  1. I’ve got to give credit to SG as tactically that was probably his strongest performance. We had a free hit tonight and we got something out of it.

If you didn’t see the game and looked at the possession and shots stats, you’d think nothing had changed. Those stats don’t really show the effort put in though.

Where SG needs to earn his corn is against the teams we should be beating, or not losing to. We don’t create enough against these teams, we can’t play these games like free hits.

Tonight’s result will mean nothing if he doesn’t win the next one.

  2. I am desperate for us to win today, but unfortunately I don’t hold much hope.

I think the current mindset of this team is fragile at best. I think there is division and in some corners and a lack of belief in the manager. If there is that high a percentage of fans that are not happy with the manager you can guarantee that some in the dressing room feel the same.

As it stands, my personal feeling is that after a great start the transfer window has been poor. We still have glaringly obvious issues unaddressed and are now in a rushed situation to try and fix them.

If Gerrard loses today I don’t know how the club can put a positive spin on it. The owners have always tried to bring the feel good factor back to club since they came in, they will be very aware the feel good has very much f**ked off recently.

With stadium expansion plans being submitted the last thing the owners want is  crap football, a manager that couldn’t beat a one legged man in arse-kicking contest, and pissed off fans.

I think today is a very big day for Mr Gerrard and he knows it.

The shift in the policy to sign more older players is hardly Lange’s choice though. Purslow has been quoted saying Gerrard asked him to ”take the age structure up a bit” (something like that).

Gerrard wanted quick fixes and older players on high wages are seen as that. Purslow gave his blessings.

My view of Lange is that he keeps out of the way as much as possible, does whatever someone tells him to do and is happy to hold down a well paying job.

In that case, we should’ve brought in a manager that fitted the club policy of buying talent with a potential to improve and in turn, sell without loss if they didn’t work out.

The irony is that the position we needed the most (CDM) is where we’ve signed the youngest player.

Tearing up the rule book to suit a relatively untested manager is commercial suicide…..and on this evidence doesn’t work.

  4. This guy has me seriously concerned. The shift in transfer policy to older players is not a good one. I think we do our scouting on FIFA 22.

Now we go after a winger when we don’t play with wingers, I kind of hoped we’d learned to actually buy players that we need by now.

It’s as silly as a bum full of Smarties.

  5. For me, this is a ridiculous signing. We sign wide players, don’t use them as wide players, freeze them out, sell them or loan them out, repeat as necessary.

If Gerrard doesn’t know the weakness in his own system which doesn’t involve wingers, he really is clueless.

The general consensus among Watford fans is that Sarr has pace to burn but hasn’t reached any kind of potential. He can join the list of players here that match the same description.

I actually liked it when we signed Gerrard, but in reality I think alot of us were blinded by his ability to attract some decent players.

In reality he can't even get a decent game out of Coutinho, so been a bit of a waste.

    This.

Sometimes a manager and club just click and I was optimistic that this would be the case. Maybe it was because I thought that he had not long retired as one of the best midfielders to play in the Prem; someone that understood what it would take to do well in this league.

As it turned out, we might as well have employed Alan Pardew

I just can’t get excited about anything with this pitiful excuse for a manager in charge… not even new signings…

Am I wrong in thinking that Sarr’s a winger? We don’t play with wingers.

  8. I’m delighted for the lad. He has worked hard for this chance and I have no doubt he will take it.

I really think the 5 subs rule will work in his favour and give him more opportunities than he would’ve got previously. I’d love to see him come on with 15 mins to go against Bournemouth and bag one.

Yeah, I should of read it back before I posted it. A fine combination of sausage fingers and iPhone predictive text 😂

If he kicks on this season and produces more like his first season then I think he’s the guy we should stick with.

Whereas if his general play is more like last season then as you say we should look for someone who can take us further up the league.

I’d be more than happy to eat my words if that happened

So now that we're all friends.... an answer to the question? 😜

£100k 18 year old? I don’t know to be honest, if I had to guess I’d start looking at Real Madrid or Barcelona
