He probably isn’t in the team because he can’t defend.

We don’t see the behind the scenes, day to day work. He looked good pre season in an attacking capacity but looked a little suspect in defence.

    sigh.

In pre-season he was pretty much playing that right wing on his own as Jota kept coming on the inside and not staying on the wing like a traditional winger so Fred has got to do a lot more in that set up than the Elmo-Trez set up.

  2. Grealish seems to be only person who wants to win, everyone else is just having a stroll in the park. Completely off the pace, no communication, no commitment, really the wrong day to not turn up. Fulham have played very well and are well deservedly in front however how fredericks is still on the pitch is beyond me.

What evidence of this do you have?

Or has assumption become fact, yet again.

Hasn't been at a post match briefing in a while, maybe my wording was wrong 'torn between 2 places' may have been better

  4. I have a feeling he'll leave at the end of the season and not for footballing reasons, his dad passed and he's mom is ill as a manager his head isn't fully in the job which is perfectly reasonable with his situation. I think he'll take note of that and step aside, not that I want him to I think he's done very well at steadying the ship and pushing us forward the worst thing we can really do is have another upheaval of manager and backroom staff that rocks the boat wether we get promoted or don't

  5. Anyone else looking at April thinking that could be a very difficult month? I'm not overly concerned with Norwich or Ipswich but Cardiff down to Derby looks tough, looks like if we we're going to falter it'll be then.

  6. Not renewing his contract makes no sense to me, even if it's just a year extension he's been great for the club he's not magically going to go rubbish at the end of the season. If we're in the prem yeah we'll need a new LB but he'll be good enough to cover for RB and LB, then if we don't get promoted he'll be good enough for the championship. Seems to be a slap in the face to a loyal player who is playing very well at the moment.

  7. Start him on the bench and bring him on for a half an hour run out, even if adomah seems a little off in recent games we can't afford to push green too quick too early. I do agree though that Burton is the opportune to bring him back into the first team.

  8. 1st half I felt ShefU were the better team, we weren't bad but they were better. A mixture of high pressure from them and some sloppyness in midfield from us we were lucky to go in at half time at 0-0 and that was mainly down to johnstone being MOTM. Second half both teams were as good each other and at the end of it a draw would probably have been deserved, but for a some slight magic from snoddy we get the win and thats what's going to get us promoted, players pulling it out the bag for games that should end in draws.

I'm not sure why people say it's not entertaining, it was a great scrappy game with players from both teams jumping into challenges, looking for the win and being very commited to their team, when I think back 2 seasons ago no onewanted to turn up for the match let alone put effort into playing.

That deal is just too good to be true for us. So it probably isn't.

I still think selling Elphick would be a bad move for the club, 90% sure terry won't be here next season and Elphick is obvious replacement. Plus 7m for the pair, Elphick on his own perhaps... unless they are chucking McCormack in as a buy one get one free deal.

Its because his nickname is count Dracula.

As for strikers I've no doubt the club are trying hard to find an ideal loan but it must be difficult to bring in proven quality on loan in Jan. I think we will end up with a youngster like the lad at Swansea.

Why is his nickname that?

  11. Unless Johnstone gets recalled to Man U or gets snapped up he is deservedly our number 1, not overly sure why thats up for debate. Snodgrass will perform well in the lower end of the PL plus with Green coming back that puts competition for left wing between Green and Adomah, plus the right wing with Snodders and Adomah but I would like to see better quality winger signed for the right wing. Hourihane and Grealish will step up to the plate for the Prem, how ever as been said Whelan and Jedi won't have the legs for it and I Lansbury and Thor don't really have the quality so will need to look at the midfield. Chester CB mainstay Terry will go no doubt, Taylor, Hutton and Elmo will be ok but could do with more quality in the fallbacks. Then definitely need a quality striker, I put my count at needing at least 4 signings if we go up then we have a chance of staying up, a complete squad overhaul will see us going back down.

Back to the thread about this window, I'm disappointed we have yet to add a striker of experience and quality on loan to see us to the end of the season. Hogan is doing well but if he gets injured bye bye 2nd place and unless Elphick is on his way out I can't see the point of the Man U kid (I forget his name)

I agree the spine needs to remain in the squad if we go up, but Terry won't stay (didn't want to play against Chelsea this year, so won't want to next either. Plus he'll be 38...). Whelan (in particular) and Jedinak dont look like they could handle the PL now - that's 3 important signings to be made if we went up.

Then when you add the players we know will probably go regardless of the division we're in (Hutton, Gabby, Onomah, Elphick, Samba, Bjarnasson, Tshibola, McCormack) then it's going to need a reasonable influx of players. Those I listed there don't all need replacing, but we'd need 4 or 5 to do so maybe?

I think Hutton, Thor (depending how he plays) and Elphick will stay end of the season, but yes we will need a influx of players.

or even a draw, either way we'd be within one result of at least levelling their points tally potentially :)

A draw indeed, bring derby in closer while keeping bristol points down. Although we still have to win which I'm confident for.

  14. I don't really understand all the Bruce hating unless it's coming from his old bluenose days, he inherits a team that he had no hand in and was chosen by a manager that lasted like 3 months (I know not accurate) so he's not going to be perfect off the bat. Then a complete overhaul of the squad this time last year with that many player changes of course it's going to take time to bed in. We get to last summer and he gets John Terry in, no one saw that coming an amazing piece of buisness. We're now in a pretty decent position, playing well we had very good spell in September/October we've only really had a blip over christmas. If you're talking you're talking about the 'atrractiveness' of the football would you rather play attrative looking football and end up mid table or lower, or playing mediocre looking football and get promoted it's quite rare to have both unless you're a top top team which we just aren't.

Wether he's good enough for the PL is different conversation entirely but I'm very confident he will get us there this season.

    Great post Marv.

I feel if we are promoted back to the PL there will be an overhaul on the entire squad.

The loans that we have signed will end, players out of contract leaving and then there is the ones that remain that also will need sold/shipped out/contracts terminated etc.

    Loans ending: Johnstone, Onomah, Snodgrass.

Out of contract: Bunn, Terry, Samba, Agbonlahor, Hutton

Players already leaving: Amavi, Gollini, Gil

Remainder that should be sold/offloaded: Richards, Elphick, De Laet, Taylor, McCormack, Tshibola, Bree, Jedinak, Whelan, Thor, Lyden, Lansbury, Hogan.

Look at loaning out: O'Hare, Davis, Green, Hepburn-Murphy, Suliman to teams in the championship.

That scenario would leave us with Steer, Chester, Elmo, Houihane, Grealish, Adomah, Kodja to build a new team on top of under the right manager.

Again this is all hypothecially speaking if we where to be promoted this season.

Turning over that many players has been what we've doing for the last few years and it has a very negative affect especially last year, if you think about it we had a massive squad overhaul in the last 3 windows (not counting the current one) and it's taken till now to really bed everyone in. We do need to get rid of people who are surplas to requirements such as Richards, McCormack, Tshibola etc. but we should really be keeping the spine of our team. Buying Johnstone is a must, if we don't go up we need to buy snoddy but if we do we should look for someone new on that right wing as he is a championship player.

  16. Amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill designed to asses the impact of a deal or no deal scenerio before a meaningful vote in parliment has been voted down. This makes no logical sense, if parliment are going to have a vote on the final deal wether to take it or leave it there should be an assesment on what would be best for the country at the time and in the future so they understand the best way to vote. But what can you expect from people that didn't do impact assments before going into negotiations.

  17. I've been playing the Dissidia beta, it's got an insane learning curve to it and it's rather chaotic. Plus the character rotation was a little annoying as I was finally getting the hang of it with Zidane then he gets swapped out. Still pre-ordered because it says Final Fantasy on the case :P

  18. If we're playing defensive football I'd prefer Jedi in there but if we're playing attacking football I'd want Thor in there over Jedi and Whelan, Thor just moves the ball forward better then them which gives grealish space to move how ever I'd prefer Landsbury over Thor. I don't think he will ever be a first team player but he can be a very good utlitly player that we should keep a hold of, it just depends wether he is happy with that role.

Why in the year 2018 is AVTV so bad? And that includes the filming and ridiculous amount of badly timed replays.

Are there any plans to improve this feature?

From what I've seen it looks like college/university level staffing, it's my industry and could easily be developed to be a lot better than current offerings.

  20. Given a chance in his natural position I believe he would be a very good player for us, but he's not going to get a real chance in our midfield set up which is a shame. Would prefer him to stay but needs to make a move that works for him as it definitely hasn't worked so far.
