Bristol City fans seem happy about the money. Such a weird stance to take, you just lost a guy who scored 20 goals for you last season. Sod the money, you've no time to reinvest.
Bonkers. Good luck to them.
Welcome Johnny!
as a city fan it seems hes wanted out for a while,
and our recruitment this year seems well planned out so it wouldn't surprise me if we've already signed his replacement.
11M I do think is over the odds for him, he is a good player and will cause defence problems, but when andre gray was sold for 9 million ish last year it puts it into perspective.
He will do a good job, his finishing can be off. But he scored 20 goals for us and used us a stepping stone (as expected) i will wish him well!

Hello all again!
at 11M I hope he does a job for you! I mentioned before in the Bristol city pre match thread my opinions on him as a player.
he will try take on players and has skill with the ball at his feet, the main problem he has is staying onside and maximising his pace!
he might be the boost you need to kick on with the season but at 11M id say quite overpriced for someone we paid 2M Max for last year!

Just wanted to post in here and say hope that the city fans made as much noise as possible on the 23rd minute, everywhere I looked seemed to be clapping and I'm glad the whole ground got involved even while losing.
Hope his family were there or at least see the video as it seems the people holding up the sign were videoing!
any chance of the link of the video and I'll try and share it with the city fans forum aswell.

Congratulations Dean, from what I heard you probably deserved it based on your(our) second half performance. We'll get you at VP !!
Cheers!
Second half seems we went out and just played. Although the referee was odd today. 2 goal kicks which should have been corners (1 each) also the joe Bryan card I thought was off as he got the ball.. I think he realised he had cards second half as half your team got one.

Hello again!
Can I just say on your first half performance you are probably playing the better football out of you and Newcastle (didn't watch Norwich away properly) also as I said earlier our 6/7 wins of the season came in the second half of the season under our new manager.
The first half our defence was shocking and unable to contain your attack. The after March interview our manager said to the players at half time he'd rather lose 5-0 than not get on the ball and pass around, seems as if his team tak made the difference.
Hope everybody who came down to Bristol enjoyed the trip apart from the score! (I'll check back on here later for replies etc)
looking forward to to the trip back to your ground in January!

Good to hear from decent fans from around the country, welcome to the site.
I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind?
How do you rate Baker?
What are Kodija's strengths and weaknesses? And do you think he'll leave this season?
Baker played well for us, although wasn't one to back out of a tackle and was always one tackle away from a red card.
Kodjia is fast and can cause problems running at people, his problem seems to be passing at the right time or shooting too late.. Although his main weakness seems to be staying onside, I'm not sure they use offside in France!
Im not sure on him leaving as he's enjoying his time from what I can see, and our main shareholder has said he will only sell him to a PL team and for over 10M. So unless an offer of that comes in we should be okay!

Cheers Dean, I have a lot of time for the west country folk, friendliest most chilled out part of the country. Those Rovers fans are very rude about you though.
Most of us are friendly!
and yeah if I were you I'd stay clear of the blue few, although they do claim to have the best fans in the world....
But I'll leave that for another time to bash them haha!
Hope everybody has a safe journey down and enjoys the game!
Ill pop back on later / after the game to see how everybody saw the game / result!
Enjoy!

Does anyone know the parking situation around Ashton Gate?
A massive pain, there's loads of housing near but depending how early you get there will depend if you can get a spot.

I hope we spank you tomorrow and in the return game at Villa Park and finish the season as Champions with Bristol City as runners up!
Hahaha I hope we win although you do have a better chance than us this season at going up! We will be very lucky to get into play offs

Haha we've got him on a season long loan.. Good luck!! (I think he will be near the Chelsea team soon)

We have a couple of injuries to players that would be expected to start (Gestede & Tshibola) but hopefully we have enough cover at the moment to see us over the line. New players Jedinak & De Laet should start for us and we are looking at one or two other players before the transfer deadline to strengthen what we all hope will be our upwards exit from this division (no disrespect to the Championship but it has been a long time since we fell so low and we want out asap).
Thanks for your input.
Haha no worries!
We struggled last year but since Lee Johnson took over I think we had Play off form. With all the signings we've made over the summer we are trying to push the top half of the table (I think most fans would be happy with 10-14th).
Although our team at the moment are in a similar situation with a few players injured so should
be a similar playing field. Also we've sold out the stadium tomorrow but at a reduced capacity for some reason (had a higher capacity for Newcastle). Hope everybody coming down has a good day and hopefully enjoy the atmosphere as sometimes it can be quiet...
Good luck!

Hi Dean, teams only score against us when our goalkeeper gifts it to them on a plate (Sheff Wed & Huddersfield) otherwise nobody has created a goal against our defence. If our goalkeeper can avoid any rushes of blood to the head then I think you will find Villa tougher opposition than anyone you have played to date. Good luck for the season (but not the game).
Yeah I've got a villa fan in work who said your keeper seems to have cost you 4 points.
Abraham for us seems to be causing teams problems since his arrival but I think it will be a close game. Newcastle has been our hardest test but 1-0 wasn't too bad of a result and could of been a draw.
Looking forward to the match and hopefully attending the game at your ground as well

Thank you for your input Dean. Although many say we should win, I do think many forget that we have not won away for a year. People are optimistic because of the team we are assembling, and rightly so. So its a waiting game to see how fast the new players gel. There are signs of that already, and hopefully it continues tomorrow.
Best of luck!
Of the 4 games we've played so far
we lost 1-0 to Newcastle (Home)
1-0 To Norwich (Away)
and beat
Wigan 2-1 (Home)
and Burton 2-1 (Away)
The 2 games we won we didn't play well
The two games we Lost we played well just were unable to put the ball into the back of the net and create decent chances.

Hello,
A Bristol City fan here just checking what everybody was saying / thinking about the game coming up.
After reading through these posts I can see most people are saying that you should win.
Although we only won 7 games at home last season most of them came later on in the season after we sacked cotterill.
Since Lee Johnson has taken over we seem to have played better and been able to grind out results, and for people wondering the teams we have put out during the EFL Cup has been pretty much a "Second Team" not saying that some of the players won't play against you. But it was mainly a game where players were rested so that we could have a fresh team against you.
Best of luck for Saturday (Although if i'm hoping for a nice 2-1 win for Bristol City)
Any questions i'll try get back on later and answer!
Cheers!

Id agree. but I still think 11M is good business from a city point of view, although if he scores the goals which get you promoted the 11m wont seem like much in the big pucture
