It's 100% a fake picture. 100%. People need to chill the **** out. It's a retouched shot of Sterling that likely took all of 10 minutes in Photoshop

Not only is the picture 100% NOT a fake who anybody with even the slightest knowledge of photo manipulation could tell you
    I'm a graphic designer

    It's fake you tart

Obviously not a very good one considering the pics were legit and you were completely and utterly wrong at every turn giving people false hope you eejit.

  2. If West Ham go through with their threats tomorrow, Carroll will be able to play the next 3 games, which are must win, and then if they lose the case eventually, he would miss 3 games that aren't pointers.

    Clever in one way.

It was a ridiculous Red. on the BBC or Sky Sports, one or the other they done a public vote and 98pc of all who voted thought it shouldn't of been a Red so I can understand why their a bit pissed off like.

  3. I never think Newcastle are under achievers, never consider them that big, hate this attendances argument they cook up to suit themselves, their sense of entitlement is shocking

Liverpool for me, 13 league titles in 25 years followed by 0 in the next 25...

What about all the other trophies besides the league title won in that 23 year period? Do they not count or something?

Underachievement/achievement is measured by trophies won and/or league position.

I'd agree LFC have massively underachieved since 2009 (although did win a trophy in 2012) given cash/size.

  4.

I still wonder if someone will come in with a big bid for Suarez in January. It will derail Liverpool and of course he isn't cup tied in Europe.

They flatly turned down £40m, who is going to pay enough to get a bite out of the owners?

His asking price is £55m but JWH/FSG have unequivocally stated he isn't for sale, even to Madrid, until next Summer and Luis says he's fine with this.

He was majorly unsettled during the Summer and lashed out but look at his form so far despite this. Even if offers are incoming from Spain in Jan I doubt it will affect his performance based on what he's been like and the type of person he is.

Arsenal know we will never sell to them under any circumstances for any amount so I doubt they'll be back in Jan as they'll just look silly again like with that £40m+1 offer.

Suarez has no set release clause that forces a sale either unless he signs a new contract before seasons end.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Spuds fan joey55 you'll never get recruited by MI5.

You are the worst spy I have ever known.

Did you not know that your name is displayed constantly in the community index & at the bottom of the thread as viewing this page?

It's not us who are under surveillance but you. :P

ps- are you being employed by the silent service? :crylaugh:

Take this message to your leader:

    " **** off Daniel Levy" ;)

Why do you care so much about Joey and his actions on this forum? He ain't doing nowt wrong and you're starting to sound a bit weird. If he wants to lurk and read this thread then what's the big deal?

  6. Nah.. can't see the Liverpool thing tbh... Not even in the Champs League...

Liverpool 2010-2020 = Villa 1990 - 2000 in my opinion... Living on past glories.

In that respect you could say in some bizarre kind of way we are ahead of them as we have already hopefully done our transition into a new streamlined club. Now we just need to build a good team & repair the clubs severely damaged reputation thus filling out Villa Park again & hopefully expansion, European football & trophies as a result.... a few years off yet mind!...

I see Liverpool as not having quite realized yet that they need to follow a similar path. They still think they are a bully when in fact nobody else is scared of them anymore...

I can see CB going to London IF he moves & even that may not be until next season... May depend on his family though..he did say he would speak with his family about it so i guess it depends if they are settled in the area or not?

Liverpool have already done what you are saying Villa have done. I have no idea how you can say Villa "are ahead of Liverpool" in any shape, way or form other than pure tribalism.

All the overpaid dross is gone. Wages are down to 60% of turnover come next release of accounts. Johnson is the only player in the first team left who is on a contract bigger than he deserves/earns. Dalglish and Comolli who were the the big problem financially and signing players and getting it wrong are gone, a brand new scouting team has been robbed from Man City and there is a Committee approach to signings now with no one person having ultimate say over who is bought.

The building of a more financially effcient team has started with two class buys in Sturridge and Coutinho who cost less than Downing combined. Liverpool will get permission to finally start expansion of Anfield by end of Summer. All the debt we have is owed to our owners (£80m when it used to be £240m) who have promised they will not take money from the club to be repaid they hope to get it back when they sell the club.

Still a lonngggg way to go for Liverpool, but lets get our facts right, everything off the field at Liverpool is better than its been for a long, long time. The challenge now is replicating the superb work that's been done by the Executives, on the football side of things, which is going to be so hard when Arsenal, City, Utd, Chelsea all have bigger revenues to spend and Spurs have built up a great side that they seem to manage to keep going strong fighting for 4th, even when losing their best players like Modric and VDV.

There's been a big gamble made on 1) Brendan Rodger's being the right man for the job and 2) Trying to copy a Spurs-like strategy of investing in top scouts to find affordable, potential world class players, before the bigger clubs get on to them, and having these players fulfil their potential with you, before being swiped by the bigger clubs. Signings such as Alonso, Mascherano, Suarez and now potentially Coutinho. If this gamble works then it will pay of massivley on and off the field, if it does not, then Liverpool may end up stuck outside the top 4 for a generation.

  7. The only club who could get near Villa's asking fee for Benteke is Liverpool. They will have at least £50-70m to spend this Summer from Suarez, Carroll, Skrtel, Coates, and possibly Reina, plus the usual £20m from FSG.

Downing/his Agent have said that Benteke is open to a move in England (don't know about abroad) to Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool, preferably Arsenal, but Spurs aren't interested as they have other targets according to their best so called ITKs, and Arsenal with their board won't go up to the £20m+ Villa are quoting clubs.

This is from the Downing camp via a close mutual friend. He was the one who told exactly what was happening, step by step, with the Downing move to LFC and got every bit right, down to an article Downing's camp had planted in a Newspaper the day before it appeared in print. Agent's talk to other Agent's. A lot. Thats how most Clubs find out if prospective targets are interested in their club or not.

Right now, because of the financial side, I'd say, (if they even want him and I don't know if they do, he's certainly not the top target though-thats Muriel at Udinese) if someone held a gun to my head, that Liverpool have the best chance purely because their the only Club I can see agreeing to pay at least £20m for him, but I just don't think theirs genuine interest from LFC. Benteke is great but he doesn't fit Rodger's much heralded system and philosophy (look at how he treated Carroll who physique wise is a similar build to Benteke. Rodger's like's fast, technical, midgets like Coutinho). Aspas has already also been bought with Munian/Muriel being the two other main Striking targets as of this minute.

I think he'd be interested in LFC but it could be a hard sell depending on Competition. it all depends how he looks at it. LFC could put a convincing argument together stating the corner being turned under Rodger's, a brand new scouting dept robbed from the then Prem Champs who have impressed already with Sturridge/Coutinho for combined £20m & plenty of cash to reinforce with. Top 4 calibre form since turn of year, better win ratio and stats when Suarez doesn't play, compared to when he does. But the opposite argument could also be put forward. Losing their best player again, coming 7th never looks good and outside top 4 four seasons running now. Jury still out on BR & whether he'll be a success. If Reina goes there could basically be a whole new Defence next season and that could cost lots of points bedding in. A strong argument can be made either way based on the argument you're trying to prove.

It'll come down to which clubs can make the best sales pitch. If Arsenal and Spurs are indeed interested and are willing to put up the fee (which I don't think they will be) he'll end up there. If they won't then the only other threat in England is Liverpool. Can't see him moving abroad again, twice in 2 seasons. Based on what he's said I can't see him staying at Villa I'm afraid. i think he would take any step up that was available and then look to keep moving up the ladder.

  8. At the end of the season, I reckon.

He's basically said in the media he'll stay one more season after this for LFC to prove CL is a realistic aim and that LFC can match his ambition before he is off-ski's.

  9. I think when you sign Joe Allen for £16m or whatever the hell it was you're in no position to talk about mediocre transfers

Joe Allen was £15m and been one of the best players so far this season. He's had a w0bbily patch but getting back to his best again now. Up till November he was carrying midfield and, after Suarez, was the next best and most important player. The fans absoltuely love him. Coz of Jordan Henderson being a failure, people (who have hardly seen Allen this season other than a few mins of highlights) seem to have already decided that so is Joe Allen, painting him with the same brush, when the truth is he couldn't be any further away from Henderson in terms of performance this season and his overall ability.

Just needs to get back to his form of weeks ago.

Hrrible feeling it will be a 1-1 draw today.

  10. If Bent came to Liverpool he'd be used as either another option to Suarez, or Suarez would drop into the hole or LW/RW. He could defo be accommodated though (seen someone say he couldn't fit in a LFC).

TBH I don't think Rodger's is interested though as he seems to have the hots for Walcott if he don't sign his contract or Sturridge as his backup.

I think Rodgers would only go for Bent if he was available on loan (if Lambert really does wnat to get him out of the club for whatever reason) with a view to a buy in the Summer if it works out, as he is on record saying he's looking for attackers available on loan.

  11. Berbatov is a fantastic striker. Any team outside the top 4 would benefit from having him. He will score quality goals wherever he is and its goals that win you games and take you places.

Dunno if he'd of got the service at Villa to score all the goals he has so far though but would be a better team with him for sure, and have more points on the board.

  12. Really liking Leverkusen and Schalke so far this season and Frankfurt have been really good to watch.

Some absolutely cracking potential young players in that league atm that are a joy to watch, mainly the the BVB boys, but been really impressed with Holtby and Draxler too at Schalke. Hunt at Werder also looks like a player who could be good for a prem team too.

My current favourite this season though who I'd love to see in my team is Diego. he's been immense so far, especially the last couple of games. He's like a much better and classier VDV. Love watching him.

In many ways the Bundersliga has been more entertaining than La Liga and the PL this season.

  13. Adebayor does this. He'll have a good season with a fantastic attitude and work rate when it counts, and then he'll get his new contract, or his oay rise or his permanent move, and then thinks he's sorted and becomes lax and his attitude wobbles.

Don eit at Arsenal, City and looking like Spurs might be next.

Somone like good 'ol lovable 'Arry can get something out of those players as he's a good Man-Manager, however AVB is a very different kettle of fish, more from the Rafa Benitez school of how to have relationships with your players, and with this approach players like Adebayor can become a distraction.

  14. They lost their 3 best players and now, with the injuries they have, their pretty shit. I'd usually be worried about going to WHL after the least few years, but now it seems anyone can get at least a point there.

They have been incredibly over hyped over the last few years though because of how much the British media bummed 'Arry.

They benefited the last few seasons from Liverpool becoming shit and Chelsea having a mare of a season last year (funnily enough half of it under AVB), and if it wasn't for these two things I don't think they'd of finished 4th, 5th, 4th the last few seasons.

The way its going this season I fancy Everton and WBA to finish above them now.

Losing those players has killed them, same as when Liverpool lost Alonso, Mascherano and Torres. If you sell them and don't replace them with good enough substitutes you're going to struggle.

  15. Sorry guys, as a neutral, I think Norwich are the stronger team right now. If someone made me put a bet on who would win in a match between the two teams and/or who will finish higher, I'd defo say Norwich.

However, you lot are at the beginning of a huge rebuilding project after all the damage McCleish did to you and its gonna take time, so I suppose this is to be expected atm. Its who will be the better in the future/long term moreso than just this season that counts (unless one of you was to be relegated).

  16. What will be 'enough' commemoration do you think?

I'm normally all for slagging LFC but in fairness this is their first home game since they got their justice. It's also quite timely as it is a more significant gesture given the opposition on the day and I think it's an ideal opportunity to remind those (many) who have forgotten that not everyone within football is a word removed. Hell there is even rumoured to be a handshake between you know who and ju know who so it'll be quite the significant day all round.

Thanks for this post, its very welcome and heartening. I cant believe with everything thats come out about Hillsborough and the cover up and people are STILL having their little cheap shots.

That was LFCs FIRST and ONLY commemoration since the TRUTH finally came out to answer the original poster.

Was that too much for your liking was it?

The tribal nature of football is disgusting far too much of the time as the crass comment BOF was responding too goes to show.

  17. I am getting pretty sick of this club now.

Their manager (seemingly a good guy) and Gerrard have both openly expressed their feelings about decisions going against them and hoping to get the rub of the green. Gerrard are now saying that their two displays against Man City and Man Utd warranted 6 points etc etc, saying their draw against Sunderland would have been a good result if they had won those matches. Excuse me? You did not win those matches, and what are you saying, even on your best day you still cannot win?

Against Man United pretty much everyone agrees the Shelvey tackle was way over the top and deserved a red card. In the best case, it was "harsh", but still it was not wrong. There is a huge difference between wrong and harsh, as within every rulebook that tacle was wrong. The Suarez-penalty? Yes, it could and should have been a penalty However, from the refs angle it looked like Evans touched the ball and Suarez did overplay. All in all, slightly wrong decision maybe, but not a disaster at all and it really is something that happens every game. The Utd-penalty? When you tackle as the last man you have to get the ball cleanly. Johnson barely touched Valencia with his hand, as well as brushing his heel, but all in all that is enough to get him out of balance right before he is going to shoot. The two situations put together was pretty harsh on Liverpool, but in NO way was any of them diabolical. If a guy is tackled right at the ankle on his way through you can say it is a disaster if a penalty is not awarded, and if a player is diving without contact you can get mad if a penalty is given at the other end. However, in this case both examples are tough and it went against Liverpool. A referee cannot hold back a penalty call because he has heard that he should have given one 10 minutes earlier.

Anyway, I love the misery for Liverpool. Always bitching about every little decision. Tell you what, would Liverpool have won if Shelvey had stayed on? Why? Most likely United would have made moves in the second half and won the game anyway. They have better players and a better manager, something Liverpool always seem to forget.

I sincerely hope Liverpool lose against Norwich tomorrow, but just wait, something will happen that they will use as an excuse. If only Suarez had hit those 9 attempts inside the goalposts instead of outside, because he is world-class you know, and if only that outside-post hit had gone in, they hit the most crossbars you know!

Every line of that is untrue and nothing more than a silly bitter rant.

If I thought for one minute you were open and objective enough to be interested in the facts i would go into detail to put you right but we both know your only interested in the anti-LFC slight.

No-one connected with LFC has said Shelvey shouldnt of went, what they have said is that Evans' tackle was equally bad and he should of went too which the gif and picture earlier in the thread show. (It doesn't matter that he touched the ball btw, any two footed lunge is a straight red the FA rules say).

Suarez hasn't dived once this season and had 3 stone wall pens not given. Even Gary Neville who hates Liverpool with a passion said the tackle where he was booked for diving was a penalty when you watched the reply and he was booked for no other reason than the fact of who he was. You can't ref like that no matter how tempting it is.

Suarez's diving is over. He may throw his arms or head up but nearly all players do that, inparticular Chav and Utd players. I'm lucky to get info from a LFC player (who used to play for Villa) and I know Suarez has been given a code of conduct for sporting play this season by Rodger's of what he can and can't do and Suarez, as well as the rest of LFC players, have been told if they blatantly dive they'll be reprimanded.

Given how much work Rodger's has put in to try and make sure there LFC playrs stay sporting you can understand why he's cheesed off after doing all this he's getting no benefit from doing so and has actually said he may as well just not bothered and let Suarez carry on.

I find it hilarious that on the main Villa forum there is a thread about LFC which is posted in more regularly than a Birmingham thread and is much higher up on the board than it, when Birmingham are meant to be your biggest rivals, and LFC are not, and never have been since I've been around, your rivals.

Liverpool are just like any other club. We do whatever we can do to give us the best chance of winning in a fair and sporting way. Some are getting us and Chelsea mixed up. They have been by FAR the worst for diving etc this season and no-ones mentioned them?

All we want is some consistency which we haven't had from the Refs lately obviously (If you watched MOTD last night you will have heard them highlight this), and the FA (Terry ban less than Suarez's when there was actually some evidence of Terry doing the crime in his case).

Villa fans would also be in uproar if you'd had the continaully abysmal ref performances we've had all this season and unless you have watched all 90 mins of all our games this season in the league and league cup I don't particularly value your opinion as you will have no idea what LFC are on about because most of the bad decisions are never on the highlights shows (like Barnetts Red card tackle that he only got a yellow for yesterday) and don't get mentioned in the media until Rodgers went out of his way to try and bring attention to it.

Its refreshing to see a few good obejctive posters in this thread though that are willing to put ill feelings to one side and debate the points as they appear (like the people who said about Agger being reqlly hurt and down for while which couldn't be helped when someone suggested it was done on purpose. He couldn't walk at the time and it was suspected he had a torn ACL, luckily for us it wasn't but we all thought he was out for the season!), rather than take it as LFC always being in the wrong and blaming them because of hatred so thanks to them.

  18. Its not quite that though is it. They enquired about Dempseys availability with the club, a perfectly normal nd legitimate thing to do. They then didn't follow that original enquiry up with an offer, for whatever reason, they are within their rights to do that as well. I'm fairly sure that sort of thing happens every day in every transfer window. Jol has no right to be upset, he's trying to deflect away from his actual problem and that is Dempsey wants to leave that badly that he's refusing to play, the Liverpool element of that is rather marginal. There have probably been numerous other enquiries from other clubs too, they don't appear to have followed up their original enquiries either

I think you are forgetting that they announced it on the Fenway Sports website. This isn't a perfectly normal and legitimate thing to do. So the Liverpool part isn't marginal at all. Jol has every right to be upset with Liverpool.

The said website is completely independent of LFC. It is called NESN for "New England Sports Network" which covers the sports teams of the area of New England.

The company tht owns the wensite is owned by FSG but thats the only link. They have no say what gets put on there or control and it is runs completely independently from LFC and FSG.

They have started covering LFC in bits since FSG, the Red Sox owners bought us because of our links now to Boston and New England.

The reporters and writers on there are people who are not experienced or professional journalists with training etc. They previously had a LFC contributor on that website who was just a fan who managed to get chatty with Tom Werner but it turned out he was a racist with links to the BNP/EDL. When this came out they got rid of him obviously but it shows how unprofessionally the NESN (not FSG) website is ran that this could happen.

One contributor on there who isn't even paid genuinely thought we'd signed him because of tweets he'd read on Twitter and in his naivety believed them so included one line in presention on the US Tour at the very end that said something like "and new signing Clint Dempsey", nothing massive, the article and video wasn't even about Dempsey, that was tagged on at the end.

It was a genuine mistake from a rookie writer with no real or professional journalism training on a site which the LFC content is a new section and shoddily managed.

FSG or LFC don't deserve to be tarred and feathered for that it was completely out of their control.

It should also be pointed out that Arsenal have 'made an enquiry' a few times foir Dempsey and West ham actually made a bid, but no, it was all Liverpools fault alone.

The poster above is right in that Jol is using the Dempsey/LFC thing to deflect away from himself and the club. Dempsey has already intimated Jol is lying and only giving one side of the story and said the 'truth' will come out so I'll wait to hear that first.

Football clubs always make an enquiry first before bidding. That is normal procedure to find out if a) the player is even for sale, B) the ball park value of said player to see if it is affordable to the prospective club.

Liverpool didn't end up putting a bid in because Dempsey was 3/4th priority signing and after we bought the more important players, we have no money left to buy Dempsey. If we can sell Adam/Spearing/Carroll/Cole which we are trying to do, then this may change.

  19. Andy Carroll didn't travel back with the team today after the game and went straight off in a car alone with someone in a suit. Some rumours it was off for talks about a move and one of the teams it could of been with is Villa.

He definitely did go off as people got pics of him leaving in car with said people. No-one knows for certain where he went though but Villa did come up.

I think he'd do really for you on loan for a year.

  20. The FA requires a lot less proof to be found guilty and is decided not by "beyond all reasonable doubt" but the much less strict "balance of probabilities" so the criminal case outcome has no impact on the FA ruling. The FA are only looking to see if Terry broke one of their rules and not the law.

Using the Suarez precedant Terry is screwed as all the FA require is enough evidence to suggest that he said "F**king Black word removed" in reference to Ferdinand and tone, context doesn't come into it. If on the "balance of probabilities" the FA panel believe he said what he said he will be banned for 8 games.

Giving this, with the existence of video evidence in this case, unlike with Suarez where he was found guilty, showing him saying said words I'd be shocked if he wasn't found guilty.

However, we all know the FA are useless and the fact he is good old Sir John of Terry and still an important international player and former Captain, I wouldn't be shocked if they found a 'solution' to this problem as Terry, imo based on what I've read and heard, will threaten to quit National football and Hodgson really doesn't him to.

The funniest thing in this is that the Chelsea fans are demanding the FA go over Hodgsons head and reinstate Terry as the England Captain, even if the FA do him as he was found innocent in a court of law.

I don't think many of them lot have read the full judgement here the Judge basically decimates Terry as an individual and says his stroy is basically bollocks but had to find him innocent on a technicality even though it sounds like the Judge believed he was saying it as an insult towards Ferdinand.

  21. I'm sure they owe Newcastle far more. In fact Liverpool should just give him back and say forget the xx m we owe you, take him back

According to one of my Liverpool supporting mates they have paid Newcastle £22m. However, Liverpool are apparently claiming that they want the £22m back for Carroll to flog him to the Geordies. He then said that this would also cancel down the remaining £13m Liverpool owe them, which just doesn't make sense financially. No way would Newcastle give Liverpool £35m back for Carroll.

I would say £20m tops. Offer £12-15m depending on the balance from the Downing sale and tell them to take it bugger off.

Thats incorrect. We have paid the entire £35m to newcastle. Nearly all of it was paid up front in one installment as was all of the Torres fee.

We owe you around £8m for Downing and the person who got all the Downing stuff spot in frightening detail plus other LFC stuff since, has told me that Villa would be an attractive option for LFC due to the money owed on Downing.

He said wiping the debt plus a fee of £7-10m would probably be accepted. Carroll is on a basic weekly wage of £80,000 but is willing to take a SMALL decrease in this, but he wasn't clear if this for all clubs who guarantee him as a starter or just Newcastle.

Newcastle still favourites for obvious reasons but my best, educated guess is that we would prefer Villa for reasons outlined above.

I trust this guy 100% and although he only tell us a small amount of info compared to those on Twitter, when he does he is almost certainly spot on.

Mind, I am not saying Carroll will join Villa, or even that Villa are favourites, just simply that we would be attracted to a deal with Villa because of the Downing fee outstanding and that we though definitely still owe you money for this.

He hadn't heard about us having an upcoming deadline of payment of the outstanding Downing fee.

Also, we and Newcastle are MILES off agreeing a fee, and they are never going to offer the £17m (not £20m media bullshit. Yanks aren't bothered about taking big loses on players, only wages) I don't think, its just Carroll could say "Newcastle or no-one".
