the rooney has to play up front stuff has started again

 

if rooney wants to play as a number 9 then he has to have the discipline to stay up front, he simply doesnt, never has, he wants the ball too much and drops deep / pulls wide to get it

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it creates a nightmare for the central defenders on whether to follow him. If England can have people running beyond from the midfield such as Sterling then we could look dangerous.

I remember the days of FM10 (or it might have been an earlier one) when Delph would bang in 10-20 goals per season from 'the edge of the box' corner tactic. This was in season 2019/20 or something though after he'd fulfilled his wonderkid tag.

I always saw him as just a really arrogant guy (well, that's kinda true). It's not always a bad thing though for someone at the helm. Given time I believe he will give Villa an identity again like we had under O'Neill. Just stay up this season and we can really kick on. Hope it's for the long term even if things haven't started out in an ideal fashion. At least he has charisma, something which we were severely lacking....

I've been a long term 'lurker'   but I feel I finally have enough time to contribute. I consider myself a positive supporter of the club (clapper) but will happily voice and discuss concerns, not vitriol, if needed.

Born and bred in Birmingham but now live up t'north in Yorkshire. Not a season ticket holder and only manage to get to half a dozen or so games a season due to work commitments.
