'we have clauses in the contract with manager. anytime the club is not within the first 6 positions of the league, we can sack him'

I got to say I laughed there lol..... So watch out the new manager, if you lose the first match, you are sacked!!!!

Good job he bought us and not Wolves or someone. We will at least be top 6 all summer!

  2. Does anyone else remember when we used to think of puns relating to Garde's surname?

    They were good times.

I guess we've fallen on Garde times.

I hope to Garde we get a manager in soon.

Cod knows there's a time and a plaice... too early or too late?

If it was up to me, I'd go for Alexandre Pato, who spent last season on loan at Sao Paulo, from Corinthians. He scored 13 and got 4 assists in 31 games. He also wants to return to Europe.

I'd be going for River Plates left-sided centre back Eder Balanta or, Juventus Martin Caceres.

I'd also be busting a gut to sign Twente Ensheda's attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech who scored 17, with 17 assists last season and has 3 goals and 1 assist in 3 games this season.

is Pato's agent paying lots of people on here, as this suggestion comes up every 5 pages or so and it's very boring

If he is, can I register that I am prepared to regularly post links to Pato for cash!

  4. Nzogbia someone like Wigan on loan picking up a % of his wages has got to be better for all concerned?

For all concerned it has to make sense that Nzogbia goes to a club like, i dont know say Wigan,  even on loan with them paying some of his wages

If we can get rid of Nzogbia even some of his wages with him playing at a lower league club like Wigan for 12 months that makes sense surely?

Perhaps he could go to Wigan on loan?

  5. I've done the calculations using Twitter, Metro and the Daily Mail and concluded that we've put an offer in for everyone.

    Exciting times.

Edit: Just took a call from Tim. He's offered £2m for my services up front.

Been saying it for a few weeks on here now but I still think we should be looking at Ashley Williams. We could probably get him for about £10m which I know seems a lot for someone that turns 31 this month but he is proven, solid, experienced, knows the prem and is a leader (captain of Wales and Swansea). He should have 2 good seasons in him which would be enough time for Clark and Okore to learn a lot and develop under his guidance. We paid £10.5m for Curtis Davies 7 years ago so is £10m or even £12m a lot in todays market?

Also like Shawcross and Nkoulou. A combination of two from those three would fill me with a lot more confidence. We need a better keeper IMO as well. Someone who is more vocal and can organise/command his defence to stop a lot of these errors. We get ripped open at the back far too often as the defence is not organised. The lads need a good pair of eyes behind them that can see the whole picture and alert them when they are out of position. Not sure who that would be but it is definately an area we can improve on.

FWIW I do like Guzan but we can/should do better.

    GOOD NEWS FOR SWANSEA!

Swansea captain Ashley Williams, who has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace this summer, has been speaking to Sky Sports News HQ at the Premier League launch and he’s had this to say about his future…

“I’ll be staying – the gaffer has come out and said that,” Williams said.

“I’m used to dealing with speculation – it’s just part of the job and I take it as a compliment. But I’m totally committed to Swansea and I think everybody knows that.”

    Doh!

    Off to Man City then!

  7. Lescott and 3M for Clark,  would that be a bad deal?

For me, would depend who the young potential CB we brought in was. Clark seriously improved last season, and I think it's hard to call whether he will continue to do so into a top 10 club defender or not. I would certainly think we could find someone who the odds on this happening were better, probably French and called Jordan!

  8. I have feeling we might sign a keep too, Begovic was one of the first player we were linked too / bid for, seems strange that we haven't been linked to any other keepers since, but I sense a decent money bid for Begovic clearly had some careful consideration and thought behind it

    We bought Bunn since then

  9.

    You mean bought it.

What are you paying your players with?  Chocolate smiles and hopes and dreams?  Funnily enough we had a conversation about 5 years ago on here where you told me that Lerner was a proper owner who was properly investing the Academy where we were an Arab plaything who was going to get bored and walk away.  You were excited to be rich and hoping for lots of investment. Now we have a £300m Academy and you have an owner trying to sell up.

Ah so you agree you won the league because you spent more than anyone else. Good.

And we were never 'rich' even when Lerner was spending money.

Congratulations, your owner is richer than ours that is about what football boils down to these days. We all remember the joke of a club you were a few years ago.

I also remember that Villa were in the lower divisions whilst we were competing with Clough for trophies on the final day. Luckily I never managed to refer to them as a "joke of a club" but this is obviously part of your class that we can't buy.

Did you spend your time seeking out fans of other clubs to rub their noses in it back then as well?

Leave him alone, he's probably knackered now! Took him ages over on wikipedia doing his history research over what happened in the before times at Man CIty. I don't take any comments by any big 4 gloryhunting fan seriously at all.

  10.

Reminds me of when we appointed Gregory. Lets hope he makes the same impact.

    This.

Tim Sherwood is the closest thing to John Gregory since he left. I personally loved our time under Gregory. The football was hit and miss, but he spoke his mind, got the job done, and the team was moderately successful. We certainly weren't the joke that we are now and have been since Gregory left (other than the MON years).

For all those that are saying that they don't like Sherwood's personality, I think we need someone with arrogance (like Gregory had), who is prepared to fall out with "big name" players if needs be.

I'm genuinely excited about this, and think this could be the beginning of something a bit special over the next few years.

Come on Tim prove everyone wrong. String a few results together with some goals, and everyone will be behind you very quickly.

And another this! Welcome Tim and Good Luck!

  11. Lambert to Guardiola would be an organic progession. Ronaldo and messi would be more of a shock to the system but as you say would probably keep us in the division.

Trouble would be if we signed those two, other players would want matching wages and we'd have an upset dressing room. This never happened when we were signing players like Bowery.

  12. I think Mourinho would be wasted as a DOF needs to be in the dressing room with players. Would give everyone a massive lift but like Simeone and Guardiola it's unlikey, even more unlikey in fact.

I'm not sure I would take Branson without Mourinho though, they have a special relationship.

  13.

Well if Simeone's on the shortlist, why wouldn't Guardiola be?

We could get Guardiola with Simeone as assistant, then bring in someone like Mourinho to look after the u21s. That would work

My dream would be Lambert back as DOF with Guardiola as head coach. I know that's not going to happen, with Lambert just being sacked though and him probably wanting to have another crack at being Manager somewhere else. And as others have pointed out I'm sure Pep will stay at Bayern as well.

I heard a rumour of Jude Branson as manager with Mourinho as DOF, bit left field but one for the future.
