I would be happy with De Boer. He has been hard done by at Palace. Could be a good chance to get the right man for the long term.
He'll take a break now with that huge payout he'll get. It'll be difficult for him to find a premier league job now though.

Anyone for Chris Wilder doing an excellent job with Sheffield United, maintained a good home record playing some great exciting attacking football. Also did a reasonable good job before then with Northampton Town gaining promotion from league two to league one.

With all due respect what as Sherwood won as a player compared to Terry? Terry has worked under top coaches while at Chelsea and probably learn't a few tricks, I mean there's Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourhino, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez, Antonio Conte... The best manager Sherwood worked for was Kenny Dalglish.

Think it might work, maybe get Drogba down here as coach too

If he gets the best out of Hogan then worrying about Gabby would be pointless. If he could get Hogan, Hourihane, Lansbury, Codger, Green, Davis etc. up to speed then he'd be well on the way to averaging 2 points a game in this league surely?
We shouldn't care about Gabby should have gone years time to move on. We need to look to future and we should be looking at building up likes of Davis, Green and Grealish.

Think I'd rather stick with Bruce than end up with Moyes. Another scary name to mention is McClaren, frightening he has not been mentioned yet.

He's only just starting to take his coachign badges isn't he?
Not sure, I would have thought someone like Terry would have already would have took that into account and done it years ago.

My money is on John Terry like or not, probably one of the main reasons why he joined probably knew Bruce was under a lot of pressure coming into the new season and thought at least if he's around the club he might stand a good chance in getting the job.

Why do you think the playoffs are out of reach? Statistically, they are well within.
Well I'm not saying its impossible but more unlikely. We certainly need a good run between now and Christmas.

Even though this is a tight league, I think that poor start as done us for the play offs. I think a top half finish is achievable but the highest I can see us finishing is 8th.

Don't think it would harm us one bit in giving either a trial or short term contract to a one or two of these guys:
Midfield: Essien, Reo-Coker, Osman, Sissoko
Right Back: Hibbert
If Barton is released from Rangers shortly, I'd have him until January/end of the season.
Barton's character wouldn't help resolve issues hence why he's getting kicked out of Rangers.

As mentioned in another thread
Matty James from Leicester to help solve that midfield role. On loan shouldn't cost us too much
Jacques Maghoma from the scum, good winger with a good bit of pace and stamina. Be a bit pricey due to huge fee the scum will put on him, knowing we're after him.
Kazenga LuaLua from Brighton a decent winger. Brighton won't let him go cheap
Scott Parker from Fulham, a good solid midfielder with bags of experience. Due to his age he may not cost to much
Knockaert from Brighton, seen and heard good things about him fantastic winger. Brighton won't let go cheap.

For me the only way we can work round this is to go for a 5-3-2 formation, with our current problems we have I think this is the only few systems I think we can use. I'm afraid on the only way we can go forward is sitting back, letting them have possession and looking to try and catch them on the counter.
GK: Gollini
CB: Elphick
CB: Baker
CB: Chester
RWB: Bacuna
LWB: Grealish (this is going raise a few questions, but now and again he can pull off the odd good tackle and the only one I can think off who has pace on the left side to catch teams on the counter)
CDM: Tshibola
RCM: Gardner (is he injured I'm on not sure)
LCM: Jedinak
RS: Gestede or Ayew (though Ayew as the pace for this system)
LS: McCormack
Not sure if the loan window is open or do they still run it but how about Matty James from Leicester, can't get a game there at all. He was excellent at this level.

I think last time I tried to go in a couple of years ago they said it was members only.
-
Not sure i'm using the right thread, I was thinking of going in the Swan and Mitre tomorrow do you have to be members to go in there?
-
I would lie to say I'm happy with this appointment but I do think it's a much safer appointment than giving the job to Steve Clarke.

Dyche is still yet to rule himself out.

It's funny how Betfair have dropped the odds on Louis Van Gaal lol 7/2 they claim. Not even mentioned on the other bookies.

Problem the Villa have is that if they approach a club for their manager they've got to really offer them the job there and then, cause otherwise it leaves that manager in a awkward position with that club especially if he kicked up fuss to speak to us. A bit like Lambert at Norwich. Say for example Villa may want to see if Dyche would have any interest in the job and if so what would he bring and is it what Villa need?, Villa maybe still want to weigh there options with Bruce.

Why? Why would you put yourself in that position? This is Steve Bruce we are talking about, no need to be giving out ridiculous deals. Give that fat head a rolling contract and tell him to take it or leave it,
Well to tell the truth I'd sack him the day after he gets us promoted, get somebody in to take us to the next level in the premier league. I wouldn't trust Bruce in being the man to keep us in the premier league.

Bruce on a 2 year deal, wth a break clause for both parties in the summer.
Give him a specific mandate - year one get us promoted, year two - keep us up.
Shake hands, thanks very much and then get the much fabled 'legacy' guy in who is going to make us play like the Brummie Barca.
Right here, right now, he's the best short term bet aside from Allardyce IMO.
and as for 'boring', well if he adds a 5th promotion to his CV, it will be the most exciting season we've had in half a decade or more - even if we win 1-0 every week. Winning is exciting.
We should do a deal with Bruce where we should offer a two year contract, however if we're higher than 15th in the premier league by the time his contract expires there should be a clause which says he's entitled to a two year extension. Also if things don't work out it means we can get rid without having to pay a penny.

Tony is trying his best, he's very keen that's for sure. I just feel sometimes a bit of naivety comes out of him. Least we know what's going on around the club with Tony round.
