  1. Take away Saurez and the quality of the team goes down by 1/3 IMO.  They were lucky to hold on to him.

You've read the stats then when he missed those 57+ games for us?

    We'll finish 6th if we're lucky.

  2.

It's hardly Man City/Chelsea levels of spending though, it's on a par with the likes of Spurs and Arsenal who they are competing with for top 4.

Whilst the first part is true the second part is wildly inaccurate and shows how the media have ignored the spending of Liverpool.

Net spend last 3 seasons combined

    Liverpool: £91.6m

    Spurs £8.6m

    Arsenal: -17.6m

Safe to say their lack of performance across the last 2 seasons really is a large failure!

    Spurs last trophy?

    Arsenals last trophy?

    Ah it's only money.  :)

  3.

Think the Irish fans were too hard on him. He was actually a very good Ireland manager and got them to Euro 2012.

His tenure can be broken into 2 parts. The first part he did very well. His remit was to qualify us for Euro 2012 and he did that. It's at that point that he should have gone. Everyone knew it except the FAI. His best players either retired after Euro2012 or they were over the hill. However, in John Delaney's wisdom, Trap was given a new contract and he persisted with the old and had to be coerced into bringing in the new. He did it reluctantly and he made them play like dinosaurs. That's the 2nd part. In doing so, he has not only wasted our world cup qualifying campaign but he has set the development of the next generation of Irish players back 2 years. The damage he has done over the past year has created a resentment towards him that is unfortunate given the way he could have walked away a year ago. His team selections, his substitutions and his tactics have absolutely baffled everyone. He only started GOING TO ACTUAL PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES a year ago when he was shamed into doing so by the media. This for a man earning €2m a year in wages?!?!?! His heart wasn't in it and as my mate said yesterday - "We basically paid him £8m to learn the English language.".

Couldn't have put it better myself BOF.

I'd love Martin O'Neill to get the job by the way.  I think he'd be perfect for it.

  4. Watching Ireland these is literally like watching the grass grow.  Maybe it's for the best we don't qualify so we don't have to travel 5700 miles to make an absolute show of ourselves.  There's players in the League Of Ireland for Pats and Dundalk that I'd have in before some of the dross in our starting 11.

  5. All the best to Stan Petrov, a very humble and decent fella who doesn't deserve this pain and suffering, especially at such a young age, no one does.

I think his presence will give Villa a big lift against Chelsea.

    Safety assured.

  6. A very good defender slightly over-rated by the Liverpool-centric pundit wankfest that; in fairness; wasn't his fault. No doubt LFC keep him on in some role or other. He was a lot better than 'decent' and I think non-Liverpool fans' opinions of him will be overly-critical simply because he is Liverpool and he himself is not easily likeable. Has been on the wane for a long time now and is probably bowing out at the right time.

Back in the early years BOF he used to drive me mad, that was only because he was a) very young and b.) played out of position (RB).  When he moved to the centre he became a totally different player and in my opinion, one of the best CB's in the league (why else would I put him in my FF team all those years).  I'm genuinely gutted because he's actually a very nice fella and he's also got at least another season left in him.  He's held in high regard at Liverpool because of his commitment, his fist pumps at Goodison and (mainly) extra time in Istanbul.  He's not every non-LFC's fan cup of tea but I think he deserves every accolade he gets because he never shirked his responsibilty on the pitch.  You can't ask for more than that.

Neville and Carra nailed on for a pundit partnership next season :)

  7. Anyone upgrade to 4.1.1 on their HTC One X (Vodafone) recently? I think it's made my phone worse! Cr@ppy keyboard, reset itself several times and the overall feel of it is just different, bad different. I thought updates were meant to enhance or improve your device?

  8. It seems Raheem Sterling is going to give our Gabby a run for his money. He is still only 17 and he has a third kid with a third different mother on the way. The first two were born only ten days apart from each other when he was just 15 years old!

Is this true Rev? I only heard the same yesterday.

Being Liverpool, tonight on channel 5. The soap opera has made it to TV.

  9. Lets not forget if only the fans with tickets had turned up - it wouldn't have happened.

Granted there were errors on the day - but now it seems that were are getting close to blaming the police for the whole thing.

Another post made without reading any of the evidence

The fans were never to blame, the original Taylor report said so - fact

There is NO EVIDENCE of large numbers of ticketless fans - its in the Taylor report - again FACT

The police were to blame - again, that is who the original Taylor report also blamed

But lets take your ridiculous notion one stage further. If only the fans who had tickets turned up, they would have had to arrive 2 hours before kick off to guarantee getting in on time.

There were 10,100 tickets available for the Leppings Lane terrace, the were only 7 working turnstiles, turnstiles let through 750 people an hour. It would take 2 hours to get everyone through. Also if you actually know how the road layout was at the time, the LL end is in a dead end once you've gone into it (with no police control) you're **** in a crush.

People who can't be arsed to actually read what happened and just spout ill-informed shite really do make a mockery of themselves.

Dress it up how you like - the scousers have had 23 years to prepare there case - Had the police continually sought evidence over these 23 years - they may have been able to counter this weeks findings.

Its up to you what you believe - but just because something is in an official report - doesn't make it a stonewall fact IMO.

Whats happening now is a whitewash in favour of the scousers. I suspect the mistake they will make is to go for prosecutions. If they do they may find the 'accused' are just as capable of gathering evidence.

    OH. MY. JESUS.

  10. That's my understanding, that the Government were lied to by the Police force but then I imagion they were all too willing to take that ball and run with it.

Exactly what i mean. Hooligans, football, drink. Ah yeah, file your reports lads and we'll move on.

  11. Hillsborough didnt even have a valid safety certificate. The FA never issued one yet they chose that particular ground as the venue for an FA Cup semi-final.

41 people died inside when the 42 ambulances outside could have saved their lives if they were let in.

The more I read about this the more disturbing it becomes.

A police force and government that's meant to protect you, that you're meant to put all your trust in, goes and does this. How many other things have they covered up?
