  1. i'm surprised not to see the prince george, thornton heath mentioned anywhere. that was full of villa when we played there in the fa cup a few years back. only a short walk from the away end.

think i'm getting a tube down to victoria from kings cross/st.pancras, then the train from victoria to thornton heath. although if the plan is to drink around norwood i'll go london bridge, then norwood junction instead.

ticket info for spurs. good to see the club subsidise tickets by a fiver. hopefully more of that next season and less of this free coach bollocks. but that's for another thread...

should be a good day out in north london!

is there a link for common knowledge?!

Thanks for your considered input. Why did the OP post it if it is "common knowledge"?

The OP read it somewhere. I'm not aware of it so it isn't common knowledge. I'm not going to change the date advertised on the forum because someone said it's so and I don't want to spend time looking it up when the poster could have c&p the link.

the fa cup quarter finals are played over the weekend of 8/9 march 2014 and with man city still in the competition it had been mooted for weeks that this fixture would be moved to midweek. i find it baffling to read that an administrator of an aston villa forum had no knowledge of this.

nobody's asking you to change the date as yet. if you care to read the OP, he's said the date is TBC. hence no link yet for the rearranged fixture. when the date of the match changes, you'll get your link, and you can update the forum as necessary.

for now, the post is helpful in informing those supporters who have seemingly been living underground for the past six weeks, that the fixture will indeed be moved from the original date of saturday 8th march.

i trust the above is sufficiently considered and educational enough for you..

  4. Can someone clear up,

I listened to the 2nd half on the radio (having watched the 1st half on a stream) and it sounded like we missed a few chances at the end.

Watched MOTD and besides Albrighton's relatively long range effort and Benteke's goaline-cleared chance I saw no evidence of the "sitters" Radio WM banged on about.

Were the radio commentators over exaggerating? Or did MOTD just not bother to show such presumably key highlights? It sounded like Albrighton should have been slated for his misser according to the radio :S but it didn't seem that bad on MOTD...hardly a 'sitter'. Loved the MOTD "Villa got lucky with the offside" comment, literally minutes after Suarez's equivalent was declared as a "good decision".

    Anyway...my match rating and review...rating: excitement = 8, tactics = 7, opposition = 4,relief 10^9999, MOTM Gabby.

MOTD chose not to show about a third of our chances. their 'analysis' for the offside was hilarious, too. hamann: "he's onside". cue a graphic being put up that clearly shows their man was offside. typical MOTD.

  5.

There are a lot of Villa fans on the South Coast as well so that should hopefully sell more tickets for this one, easy drive to So'ton from the Midlands and direct trains too.

are we well supported down that part of the country then?

    very well supported.

loads of fans in dorset/somerset/cornwall/devon, and the likes.

pompey and southampton away have always sold very well so i'd imagine the 2200 will shift with ease.

  6.

according to west midlands police we are only having the initial allocation and are not taking the second allocation which seems mad as its sold out with 3 weeks until game

That's a joke, albeit not surprising, our ticket office are useless.

Why exactly are they useless, Wedge? I'm genuinely interested (not arguing one way or the other, though I've always found them to be good).

Anyway, none of that makes our ticket office "useless". What do you see, that does?

I thought it was a widely accepted fact that they're useless. But as you've asked...

Constant errors in allocation (different allocations listed on the etickets site and the O/S), criteria, price of tickets (listing Young Adult prices for Liverpool & Sunderland when in fact there weren't any YA prices, and listing a £15 YA price for West Brom when in fact it was £25), cut-and-paste jobs from previous away games resulting in above errors in allocations, ticket prices and criteria, listing upper and lower tier prices for QPR away when we only had the upper tier and the difference in price was actually for wings & central. Programmes show away games as being on sale when in fact they've been sold out for weeks, they've recently listed an under 23 price for hull away, then removed it, then brought it back again, and have had criteria for the Spurs cup game set at Thursday 8th September. 8th September is a Sunday. Not to mention that away information is hidden away on the website under home match headings. Despite complaints last season from fans and assurances they'd improve it all, the same mistakes are still occurring. An absolute shambles.

nice to see the ticket price is £10 lower than the last two seasons. if the 1400 go quickly we'll get the full allocation of 2400.

  8. We will not be safe before the game!! and even in the unlikely event that WE are. Wigan won't be! so the game will be just as important.

The OB are currently advising Wigan. They are taking into account our behaviour at previous away games. However its unlikely we will receive any more tickets as we already have a large amount (Wigan will be the third largest amount of tickets for away game this season) and because of the consequences of the match.

I dont know why people keep saying we can have the whole stand, and you can have at least 5k. That means absoloutley nothing. We have had full allocation, and anything else is a unlikely bonus.

When Wolves played there final game there (was it last season?) they were only £3k. Spurs this season are only allowed £4k and that is just because the match hasn't got as much riding on it.

Like i keep saying, i wouldn't count on extra because its 95% that we wont get them. If you desperatly want to go to the game then you should try and source a ticket elsewhere.

My source is the OB directly.

nothing to do with a limit in allocation, just really shit away support. already relegated, they took just 2200.

  9. The official transport to Stoke only took ~45 minutes and it seems to be well organised so me and my brother are hopping on that. Cheaper than train and/or petrol as well.

you'll learn! well organised it isn't. left late for the league cup game at norwich, bizarrely still had a stop on the way despite the fact we were running well behind, and arrived just ten minutes before kick off. i've had to use them on a few occasions now and every time they've been an absolute joke.

  10. yeah i might go down as well despite not having a ticket. try and sneak in at the end to see our last minute winner!!

the drayton park across from the away end is the normal away pub. it's on the corner of martineau road and drayton park road by the big ARSENAL letters.
