  1. This couldn't have come at a worse time. Getting married on Monday, last day at work today so frantically pulling together everything...now i'm sat on here for the day!

Great appointment if it comes off. Best we could conceivably get and the right move for him as well.

  2. This thread has gone the way of the Marc Albrighton and Barry Bannan ones before it.

He's made 1 Excellent Performance and had 2 Good Performances in 2 Years. As Gareth says it's encouraging but comparing him to Samir Nasri or saying he's potentially worth £25m is a bit rich. Remember he is abright spark in a very dull team, Samir Nasri is in a team full of stars.

Playing well and we should keep him but other that very much let's wait and see if he c an string 10-15 performances together.

  3. The problem with Delph is that he doesn't have something that stands out for me.

    Albrighton has his crossing.

Bannan has his creativity and passing.

Gardner has proved at lower level that he can consistently get goals.

Herd has the engine and the physicality to play the defensive role.

Delph on the other hand is just inconsistent with every part of his game apart from his tackling which is far too rash.

Some games he has a great touch, others the ball just bounces away.

Sometimes he has excellent footwork, but then at the same time he can easily fall over the ball or give it away.

At Leeds he proved he can score goals, we haven't seen it.

We has displayed an excellent passing range but hasn't done it enough, and on occasion gives the simplest pass away.

I certainly agree he's in the wrong position, he isn't imposing enough to play the role he's playing but I'm also unsure if he's good enough to play elsewhere.

This is how I see Delph and as Ponky said he looked great when he first signed pinging balls around and we haven't seen that plus Bannan is better than him at doing it.

Each game barring perhaps Fulham and Blackburn the ball is bouncing off him and he looks a yellow card waiting to happen.

  4. We must go for them, surprised so many have moved Herd to right back as he's been excellent in CM.

It will more than likely be:

Given, Hutton, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Herd, Petrov, Jenas, Bannan/Heskey/N'Zogbia, Agbonlahor, Bent

I do hope Clark plays instead of Collins as he needs a kick up, only bonus here is Swansea are not that cut throat but they'll get chances!

  5. I think Clark should get a chance when he is fit, until then we are stuck with Collins but he is too rash in everything he does.

Also how did Collins get 2 Bonus Points in Fantasy League this week, easily our 3rd weakest player on show.

  6. We had the same conversations when he played against Fulham and United last year.

Realistically he's had one good 20-25 minutes spell and took a very cool penalty. If he's does this over 20-25 games, then we'll have a player. If he has a season similiar to last he'll be a Steven Davis.

  7. Can't be true, there are better players out there for United.

Back to yesterday's performance. I'd say it was encouraging. First half I'd go as far to say he was our worse player up until he had the free kick. Was taking too much time on the ball and getting dispossessed.

Second half, great link up play with Ireland, Gabby and Warnock plus a superb penalty. Deserves to keep his spot and if we start to use Ireland and Bannan well we might just be better to watch!

  8. Yesterday's most worrying part was when he was one on one with L.Young (i think), and last year he ripped past him and scored at Villa Park. At Loftus Road he looked up, turned around and bumbled out to the side waiting for support. Not quite the player we bought.

Hopefully a game against his old club will motivate him. If not performance pull him out of the firing line as against City him giving the ball away will only add to the scoreline.

  9. Hes bloody slow aswell.

One of footballs biggest myths. I would say in our squad only Gabby, Bent and N'zogbia would comfortably beat him in a foot race

    along with he is fat

    another myth

I think Dunne just suffers from this opinion because he has an odd body shape that makes him look immovable and fat. Our best defender by a good margin.

  10. Anyone know if Samba and/or Nelsen are likely to be out for this one as they missed the Wolves game on Saturday? Would be much better for us if they are out.

Samba and Givet are supposedly back but I think Nelsen is still out. Think we would have walked it with last week’s defence.

With that in mind, I think Heskey will play and wouldn’t be surprised to see the same team after Mcleish praised both him and Gabby. Although I would prefer to see either Ireland or Albrighton in for Gabby.

  11. He played some nice passes and looked very composed but had Delph and Gardner’s role been reversed in the game, I’m sure we would be talking about Delph in this way. The game was dead and there was a lot of tired bodies and a lot more time.

Be nice to see more of him as regardless of that he does look like a prospect. In terms of starting in the centre, I think Bannan probably deserves it more on the last performance.

  12. I'd like to see a midfield three of Makoun, Bannan and Ireland, to see how that would work out. Bannan very much in a Charlie Adam sort of role. Best time to see if that is too lightweight, as they'll be more physical than most sides in the Prem.

I think we've got to play Albrighton as well to get some confidence into him.

  13. I'll be gutted if we miss out on this one. This is so straight forward it's untrue. We know how much they want, we've got the money, the player wants to come, We have a gaping left hand side hole.

I understand negotiating but honestly does any not think it would be more beneficial to have the signing on the plane than play hard ball over £1m?

  14. Didn't Burnley play him there for his loan spell?

To be fair the only game I was impressed by him last season was when he came on the wing against Blackburn and set Heskey up looked much more dangerous and gave the LB a right going over.

I think Weimann is the one to be pushed centrally out of the two.

  15. I know a slight side point but I just don’t know where Darren Bent would go, he’s 27 for one and would offer little to no resale value plus be a big fee you’d expect minimum £20m.

Utd (got better), City (will buy superstars), Arsenal (not young enough), Liverpool (bought Carroll, Suarez – want resale), Chelsea (will buy superstars) are unlikely touch him. Tottenham won’t until Redknapp goes by which time he is 28 pushing 29.

He wouldn’t go to Newcastle, Sunderland – Everton can’t afford him. Pretty much realistically leaves Fulham, QPR and Blackburn in this country.

So he’ll be looking abroad and that really only leaves Turkey or Germany as you can’t see any of Serie A or La Liga clubs shelling out.

I think this season is all on Stephen Ireland and Marc Albrighton. As if/when Downing goes, Eck will sort the defence and If those two play well we’ll finish 7th as Bent will score.
