  1. And anyway, we won and people are criticising him more than praising  :crylaugh:

Sums up some of the fans on here nicely, we won with Westwood providing the assist for the winner yet most of the stuff said about Westy is critcism. Fortunately Sherwood makes the decisions, some of the things he says in interviews about Westwood, very intelligent player, knows when to speed and slow the passing down, dictate the tempo, these are often completely missed by fans.

  2. I think it's a sign of how good Westy is when he has what would appear to be a very average display on the day but still earned the corner and provided the assist to the goal. It was 100% a drilled in corner not 'floated'. Heck, BBC is reporting our victory as 'Villa strike late to beat Bournemouth' now I wouldn't say 71st as late I'd say 80th minute onwards is. So I wouldn't pay too much attention to how journalists report certain things.

I'm personally just happy Sherwood sees something in Westwood that a lot of fans don't. Sad to see so much negativity and hate towards Westwood.

  3.

Shawcross and Johnson, yes I agree. Richards however, if the wage was right, would be an excellent signing imo.

He's managed 6 starts and 3 sub appearances for Fiorentina this year. No thanks.

And Sinclair and Cleverly were setting off fireworks prior to coming? Point is, he is proven, young considering his experience and can do a job.

  4. He's just scarily good right now but the really encouraging thing for me is the vociferous nature of his celebrations (and not just when he scores but for any goal) and the amount of effort he's putting in across all aspects of his game.

I won't believe it fully myself until I see him still in a villa shirt post-September 1st but right now he doesn't look to me like a player who doesn't think he'll still be here next season.

He says, with all fingers and toes crossed ......

I might be being naive but I think he'll stay and the only reason he hasn't committed his future to us yet is because we're not safe and the focus should be on the relegation battle. If I were him I wouldn't be signing to stay on for another year or whatever the plan is incase we do go down.

  5. Watched him for the U21's. He's the captain and quite frankly looks head and shoulders above the rest. Played against Newcastle earlier this week and looked more comfortable than Senderos lol

  6. The reason Westwood did so well against Liverpool is he was given a simple, well defined role: Defensive midfielder. He protected the back 4 and gave them an easy out ball.

Under Lambert, it seems he tried to (or was asked to) play exactly the same way as Delph and Cleverly did in midfield. He's not suited to that.

I don't think Westwood was asked to go forward like Delph and Cleverly. I thought the problem with the midfield under Lambert was that he wanted no one to go forward or even put the ball in the box lol.

  7.

Is it just me or has Cleverley formed a bit of a bond with Gabby? Every time i see players leaving the pitch chatting or having a laugh, a lot of time its Gabby and Cleverley together.

You know, in the same way Benteke and Nzogbia always seem together.

I'm hoping Cleverley feels at home here like Sinclair does, think he could be a great asset to us.

depends who else is interesetd in him, if the rumours are true about Arsenal, Roma and Valencia being interested then I think the champions league lure will be too great sadly

I'd be very surprised based on these few performances that the likes of Arsenal, Roma and Valencia are interested. If so he is the luckiest footballer alive.

  8. He's okay. Seen a fair bit of him due to being from Wolverhampton and a lot of my mates being supporters. Think they've done well to hold on to him when they went down to League 1 but honestly I don't know if he would bring 'much'

  9. What Tim Sherwood has finally proved is that second best does not have to be accepted at this club.

I don't want to get ahead of myself....but Managers do make a difference and we have accepted second best in managers for too long.

We all know money is important, but not to the same degree as some fans claim, there are plenty of other things of importance.

I know Mark who writes some good stuff on here has always claimed these players were better than we were getting from them....We still have a bit to prove and of course new signings are necessary as well as keeping our better players....but the signs are very good.

Congrats to Tom Fox for having the Nous and balls to sign Tim.

The thing I like about Sherwood, even though he is bound to get the tactics wrong in matches from time to time he'll make sure our team give it their all. He won't accept anything but 100% effort and commitment. That is all us, as fans have always asked for. We understand we won't be winning the league or anything but we KNOW that these players are better than relegation contenders and we damn sure want to see them make a go of every game. We certainly have done that since Sherwood has been in charge. Even when we've lost, the last few minute goals at least we were trying to win it.

  10. Let's face it Sherwood loves himself and I don't think he would be loving somebody else getting any credit for anything what happens after he took over.

Where are you getting this tripe from? I'm done with this garbage thread.

  11. Cissokho is a great athlete but I think his actual footballing skills aren't the best... It is frustrating watching him play in that position but I can't argue with people saying he is more solid that Richardson.

Honestly I think that position needs addressing big time come this summer.
