I think a lot of people forget that Delph lost form or was shattered at times last year and could easily get injured again.
Would you rather have Chris Herd as backup?

1. Not good enough for Man United does not equal not good enough for Aston Villa - I can't see Di Maria's private jet on the horizon in Birmingham. Do we want our money back for Cissokho because Liverpool fans mocked him?
2. Better players will always be sold for smaller fees than 8m because of the wages they are offered and the current credibility those buying clubs have - sadly, Villa are not there at the minute.
3. Tom Cleverley was made a scapegoat at United and nowhere near the disaster it was claimed.
4. Cleverley has talent, unquestionable work ethic, great attitude and can pass the ball well. He'll improve us.
5. Who do you trust more - the bandwagon of petitioners who looked for an easy target when United and England were rubbish - or people like Martinez, Hodgson, Giggs (find the interview) and Moyes? Just because two of those names are also currently not flavour of the month doesn't mean they don't know quite a lot about football.
Give the guy a bloody chance and you might be surprised.

Ok fair enough. Looked a bit of a d£&k there I'll admit. Would love Ki here - just heard from a friend who is at BH that it isn't happening. Hope I'm wrong.

This ain't happening, is it?
No, it's not. Said that a few pages back...

Best way to see how Lambert 'would' perform with bigger funds and less wage restrictions is to consider who he has spent 'decent' funds on. Those two are Benteke and Vlaar.
You do the maths.

The Ki rumour is, I've been told, just that. Prepare for disappointment.
-
Have it on good authority within club that this is nonsense and pure rumour that got out of hand.

Not happening.

Bendtner, Senderos and Joe Cole. Going to be a long summer.
Better than Baker, Bowery and Helenius though

I think our best team is currently:
----------------------------Guzan-----------------------------
----Lowton--------Vlaar--------Okore-----Bennett-----
-------------------Westwood---Delph---------------------
------------------------Cole/Grealish----------------------
-----Bacuna/Zog-------Weimann-------Agbolahor---
With Benteke to come in obviously when fit. Personally I find Kozak a bit of a lump and lacking mobility but hope he proves me wrong.
We need full backs, a quality midfielder and a striker.

Quite simply, until Paul Lambert is given a wage and transfer budget in line with other mid table teams, there is no reason to judge him as poor.
I'll concede that the football is often terrible but he's trying desperately to keep us up with Championship wages and players because that's all we can afford.

I asked a mate of mine, who is a Fulham season ticket holder, what he thought about him. Here is his reply:
Absolute garbage. In a bad team, he was one of our worst. Constantly caught out of position. And, without fail, one embarrassingly calamitous moment per game, guaranteed.
Yet for Switzerland, apparently Hitzfeld said he'd 'never' been disappointed with him. Pretty much sums up the fact that who you play for makes a real difference.

Oh for goodness sake people, have a reality check. We're in total limbo from owner to manager to contracted players; we also don't have any spending power in the circumstances.
To sign any experienced Premier league player under 30 who plays in a position in which we need cover is a good thing. Yes, he's prone to errors. Yes, he's not 'world class'. Yes, he's not an ambitious or exciting signing.
But until a takeover we've got to accept that 'exciting' signings are not going to happen - and in the meantime a bit more pragmatism might save our collective sanity.

Don't know if you are being ironic, that's how poorly I rate Senderos.Good signing. Experienced, tall, good cover. For those making stupid comments about Clark being better, do you really Clark will ever be good enough for Arsenal, Milan etc?
As for Arsenal and Milan, Senderos was never good enough for them either. In their roster, yes, but was always ridiculed at Arsenal (by the entite nation) and at AC Milan he played a whopping 14 games. At Valencia? 5 games.
And yet he was part of the Arse defence that got 10 champs league clean sheets and AC Milan wanted him? Poor form recently but never as bad as some make out.

Really hoping he takes it. We lack guts and need a reality check.

Villa fans in 'lack of patience' shocker! We need the right owner for the future and it is not even June yet, so let's calm down and see what happens. Refreshing this thread every few days is not good for some people!

Be careful.Hmmm a man who built his fortune on human suffering. Yeah I'll pass.
There are people on here who really like Paul Lambert.
I thought he meant Lerner myself
-
Patience people. If there's so much speculation in one week, this is going to drive you mad. Unlike transfer deals, could go on for months and years....

Without any spending, we have:
---------------Guzan---------------
------------------------------------
-Lowton---Vlaar-Okore---Bennett
------------------------------------
---------Westwood--Delph---------
------------------------------------
--Bacuna---Weimann---Gabby----
------------------------------------
-------------Benteke---------------
Plus: Bent, NZogbia, Clark, Baker, Donacien, Hutton, Luna, Bowery, KEA, Kozak, Tonev, Helenius, J Grealish, C Robinson, D Johnson,
Add in a couple of signings - e.g Bertrand, Lescott, Hoolahan etc. Is it really that bad?
-
Having an excellent hk7s so far, including a long range strike...
-
Gotta be Mendi with Zippy and George from Rainbow as his assisstants (though Zippy woukd have to avoid any bullying fiasco).

Guys, I know you're desparate for information. I know this is a time of uncertainty. I appreciate that it's fun to guess what might happen.
But please have a bit more brains about you - none of these people are 'ITK', just like on any other forum. It is all bullsh&t. The more the supposed 'insiders' are engaged with, the more misleading rubbish we all have to sift through.
Following itk is like being tempted to watch a tv show you know is crap, watching it and then thinking half an hour later 'yeah that was crap'. I, for one, will wait for the OS as the rest of this is pure nonsense - it's like watching an amateur dramatics performance ; some dress up better than others to be convincing for a bit, then the veil falls before long...
-
My take on this is rather more positive than some. Ultimately, despite the current uncertainty, it is good to know that Lambert and Lerner both accept that we deserve better and that things need to change. That is far better than a simple sacking of the manager, followed by realising whoever comes in is also hamstrung by restrictive finances.
This statement might mean a sale is imminent - it might not. But despite a period of limbo, better times are coming. I'm absolutely sure of it.
