  1. I think Paul has had enough of a chance to implement his tactics, style of play, buy players, sell players and get the squad he thinks can win. Clearly, his methods are failing.

The possession stats are almost unreadable. Against Swansea, another middling team, we could barely manage 25% ball possession. How on God's green earth can we expect to win. Slowly but surely form gets worse, lower class teams are picking us apart. The writing is on the wall; another mad scramble to stay up, but without Benteke getting good ball (how can he, we never have it in our possession) it's relegation time.

Sorry Paul, you've got to go!

  2. I expect us to finish above both Fulham and Norwich - can't see either side gaining more points this season based on current form and opponents. Stoke could also be jumped. Even if we foul up with both Chelsea and Wigan I think we're safe.

    Some stats:

Villa have scored more goals in their last 10 games than Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal or Man City.

Fulham haven't won in their last 6. Liverpool and Swansea left to play.

Norwich have won just once in their last 9, and that was against Reading - as soft as it gets. Man C. and WBA left to play.

  3. I've been a Villa fan since '82. Winning the European Cup made quite an impression on me as a kid. Being from Kent I can't say I had a local team to support, do Gillingham count? I'm not sure. All the other kids supported Liverpool, Arsenal or Man U - I had to be different.

This season has been the most engaging on many levels in recent years, what with the relegation battle, new manager, the youngest team in the premiership (and maybe even in the top flight of European football?). Young players will be our only route to success in the coming seasons and I'm overjoyed that we're pursuing that philosophy. Our trouble has always been keeping that talent around - the days of us furnishing the big clubs with great players must stop!

Next year promises to be really exciting.

I look forward to discussing it all.

    Thanks

    Al
