  1. Upto 15 less games to play with our smaller squad, we can focus fully on the league and the FA & League cups. We have a much better chance of a top four finish now (however unlikely) than we did with Europa football.

sorry but we are not going to be challenging for cl this year. if we cant get past rapid vienna who seriously are nothing special what chance do we have of over-throwing one of the top four.

we are going to put all our hard effort in to qualify again for europa and we cant even get to group stage. very poor indeed.

motm was cuellar he was terrfic. heskey should never start again for us unless we have a serious injury list. i think even harewood is better than him. at least he actually has a pop and scored a few goals heskey just does nothing but fall over all the time. i wish we never signed him.

    Absolutely Spot On!

It's something like 5 wins in 25 games since Heskey joined. Funny thing is he looks ok playing for England but not for us? I've lost patience with O'Neill now - why put Gabby and NRC on the bench? Why wait until now to start signing defenders.

NO CHANCE AT ALL OF A CL SPOT FOR US!!! (we wouldn't get through the qualifiers anyway).

Liverpool result was a false dawn - we did well but 9 times out of 10 would have come away with nothing. MON needs to put on quite a run of results if he wants us to believe the season has anything to offer

    5 year plan my arse

  2. Look at the positives

    - We won the game and stages played really well

    - Carew took a while to get going but looked sharp

    - We can play 4-4-2 and win game

    - Some of the defending was really good

    - Being out of Europe might help us in the league

    - Young was back to how he played last season running at defences

    The only negatives

    - Davies Injury

    - The way we played when we went 2 up it was a times to defensive.

    - Young missed a penalty

The negatives are easily fixed there is no major problem like after the Wigan game with Warnock and Dunne our squad is good enough in terms of quality and numbers for a full tilt at the league.

A few other negatives you seem to have missed

    - We are out of Europe

    - That makes it difficult to attract decent players

    - or retain your existing ones

  3. Heskey is coming in Janaury - fact

I know anyone could come on here and say this BUT I know for a fact from someone directly involved in the deal that Heskey is coming in Janaury.

I'm not able to give any more details than that - I've seen people post similar things to this in the past and get slated for it. Obviously up to you if you believe it or not.

I find it hilarious how many ITK posts contain the line 'i can't give any more details than that'

Tricky one isn't it. I was told by someone ITK who wouldn't appreciate their details plastered over VillaTalk (and I'd never get any other inside info from them in future)

I've got the choice of either sharing what I know with other Villa fans or not.

I've posted for what it's worth but as I say believe it or not - it's up to you.

Oi Qwpzxjor1 - Is it alright to say told you so!

  4. I've been told that Heskey is coming for sure but I think MON might also sign a second striker - the papers are saying we are in for Bellamy which would make sense and be a good signing IMO. MON's worked with him before and with the right handling he can be top class.

I agree that Owen is unlikely as he would be tricky to partner and would demand a starting spot giving us selection problems. I don't think we will be in for RSC

in 4-4-2 with Carew / Heskey partnered with Gabby / Bellamy works for me.

or 4-2-3-1 with Carew / Heskey up front with Gabby / Young / Bellamy / Milner fighting it out for the three attacking MF places behind.

    Exciting times

for the record I'd prefer Owen, Defoe or Doyle before Heskey

  7. Who in lords name is the soothsayer amongst out ranks???!

I had to have a double check to see that people might actually not believe!

    and people dont!

I have no idea what so many people are moaning about, seriously...

We have played some of the most attractive, dominant football we have ever seen from

The Villa in years, that coupled with a great attitude even when losing.

Yes we can bemoan missing out on Gordon, and possibly Davies but we have signed

some good players and strengthened our quality.

Financial constraints, funds, targets, agents are always shifting, and while we need to pounce

at times we also need to keep a calm head.

Marty in my eyes is doing a brilliant job, and setting up a great base and I am not sure his

toughest task starts this season, or even the next.

We are not a London club, and our fans should stop acting like London fans, we should continue to

keep the faith in a manager who has not even been enough time to be judged.

I am glad for the negativity though, the more fans we attract, bad and good, the more attention we bring,

and hopefully the more bums we put on the seats, even if people come just to see how "badly" Marty is

    getting it.

Barry and Reo and Young and Moore and Gabby and Davies...??? for England! ;)

yes yes yes yes agreed agreed agreed

I badly want to believe but my faith is stretched to breaking point

We have got good quality but are sadly lacking in depth - it's crucial that we make 5 or 6 signings of the right quality before the deadline but by leaving things so late it concerns me that we'll be left with a limited choice and may be tempted to buy lower quality just to make the numbers up.

I'd be feeling happier if we'd not let players go without identifiying better replacements. Whoever we sign needs to be markedly better than Samuel, McCann, Hughes, Davis et al.

I still believe in MON but am desperately worried that we could find ourselves in mid-october with 11 fit players and only kids on the bench
