  1. Managed to get in but now I can't assign one of the tickets to my brother even though his booking history mirrors mine. Phone line now closed so can't get it resolved.

  2. Have to agree that it does look very nice. I just hope the neck doesn't come too low.

The embossed old style circular badge is a really nice touch

  3. Just a quick, desparate plea. If anyone out there is on the away scheme and can't go, I am desparately wanting three tickets for this game. It's where my old man is from and we have been wishing for the day Villa play in Swansea for years. Year after year we have been watching the FA Cup draw with baited breath only to be disappointed with yet another tie against Man Utd. But finally it is happening. And typically it would be the first year that we had to give up our season tickets that Swansea secure promotion.

I'm not holding out much hope but if there is anyone who might not be wanting to use up one of their away scheme returns, then please contact me as I'd love to be able to take my Dad back to his old stomping ground and watch a game against the Villa.

  4. I have appeared on morning television in both England and America. I was part of a 'what to do in the half term feature' going on a tour of the body shop factory with Carol Smilie (Sp?) on Good Morning with Anne and Nick in 1992. And I was 'taught' the harmonica by some random American harmonica player in Universal Studios Hollywood for Good Morning, America or something like that in 1996.

    A true international superstar!

I have also sold a sleeping bag to Chris Packham and the boy who played Wolf in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Oh, and sold a computer game to Yakubu.

  5. Technology in golf enables mediocre players to play much better golf. With this in mind, dominating so much and for quite a long period of time would suggest that Tiger Woods is second to none. But in all honesty, I believe that you can never truly compare players from different eras.

  6. Evening General,

This is the first time that I have posted on this site so I thought I should start, as it seems most people do, by applauding all the good work that you and the rest of the AVFC team have been doing.

Interestingly, it's the good work that you've been doing that has caused me to write this 'complaint'. I noticed today on the Official Site that the work on the new hospitality facilities for the Trinity Road Stand are well-advanced, which was good to see. However, I was somewhat concerned to read that whoever was responsible for producing the sign above the new Lounge has failed to include the most basic of punctuation. At the moment the Players' Lounge is missing its apostrophe, and therefore simply doesn't make sense - I'm sure that AVFC didn't mean the sign to simply tell us that players lounge?! Now, I'm sure that some will tell me that this is nit-picking pedantry, but in an age when educational standards are plummeting, and at a time when you and your colleagues are going to great lengths to restore an image of class and professionalism, could I ask you to put some of your undoubted influence behind a move to change it. It would be sad if our new, flagship facilities remained a testament to poor English.

    Thanks for your help!

Bloody good point you have there. I'll second that General, Sir.

  7. Man Utd all the way. Not only for the sake of domestic harmony, but because I HATE Chelsea and I don't want them joining the list of British European Cup Winners. I also can't get excited by watching them and I just do not understand how they keep winning games. Still, I wouldn't mind grinding out Christ knows how many 1-0s and being in their position.

  8. But Pompey won the games. Honestly, the sour grapes to clubs that arent Villa on this website are embarrassing to read sometimes.

Not sour grapes at all. Just an observation. I wouldn't complain if it was Villa but I would still be honest enough to admit we were not the best side and a little lucky.

    Why you're embarrassed I don't know

  9. For me, I got the most joy out of the 4th goal. It was down our end and Ash was on our side of the pitch. Just seeing him glide past those 2 players and put the ball home was fantastic. But I enjoyed each and every one of them.

  10. Boro fan here, and I've just come to say that that is one of the most ridiculous previews ever. You could at least respect the strengths there are in our team compared to Villa's.

Why should you beat us? Because we have 2 ex-Villa players who you don't like? That is absolutely disgraceful, to be honest. You seem to insist that Boateng is unsporting from one thing that happened in a game against Villa. So the other 36 games, you don't pay attention to them do you?

You say your prediction is 2-0, but you could at least say why you think that. It seems like you've gave that prediction without any thought of the opposition at all, just the fact we're lower in the table than almost everyone in the league doesn't make us pushovers.

So Spurs away would be a certain win for you if you'd played them while Jol was still in charge? And you also have gave your prediction based on your own team's ambitions, and nothing else.

And finally, we're so irrelevant? I've never been so insulted. Especially when the only reason Villa are still in the Premiership is because they got someone coming in backing them with big money, which in turn got them a much better manager than O'Leary. If it wasn't for Randy Lerner, you probably wouldn't of survived another season in this league, while we've been consistently finishing mid-table for so many years with 'Boro fans who never bother to turn up' and a Chairman who hasn't had the big bucks to spend, just the passion to see his team succeed.

I thought that Gibson bloke had invested many a pretty penny into that team. It may have been because of his 'passion to see his team succeed' but he has spent handsomely nonetheless. It could be argued that Lerner is doing exactly the same thing now.

Also, I'm not quite sure how you can argue the point about fans not turning up. Your ground is regularly seen on Tv with large empty areas and the atmosphere always seems a little flat. At least that's the way it comes across.

From a Villa point of view, our ambitions are different to yours. Yours are now about survival whereas ours are about pushing for Europe. And if we want to be achieving that, then this game against Boro is the sort of game we should be winning. That explains the prediction I think. It doesn't require any more explanation than that.

I happened to go to Old Trafford for the Boro game a few weeks ago and I thought your boys did alright until they shot themselves in the foot with the Rooney goal. I don't think that Saturday will be a walk in the park for Villa but i do think that we should and will win. But i also believe that our players will respect their opposing players with the respect they deserve and have earned.

Overall, I wouldn't get too worked up about this preview. I think it's how most top half teams will view a trip to the Riverside this season. That's not being disrespectful, it is being honest and ambitious.

  11. Chim, welcom to the thread, love the American sunsets and the football shots, just goes to prove its not the camera that matters its the user

Thanks for the feedback. But i think the subject helps! Especially in the sunsets case.

  12. A couple of photos that I have taken with a cheap(ish) digital camera. I imagine they won't be classed as good photographs but I like them nonetheless:

  13. Why has free shirt printing been taken away from season ticket holders privileges, now making a new higher price shirt even less value for money? I thought Season ticket holders were going to get lots of extras this season after everybody complained about all the budget/discounted ticketing last season yet already one privilege has already been removed?

Excellent point - having priced up the shirts I note that to get one from the club costs roughly £20 MORE than getting it with the name and number from JJB. Which regardless of the amounts going to the club is such a difference as to make it far more likely for parents to go to other outlets. Add in the P&P for those not local enough and it gets worse, I believe JJB will order a kit in for free.

Also whilst out at lunch today in Manchester I never saw 1 single Villa shirt in JJB / JD Sports or Sports Direct, plenty of other non-local Prem teams but NO Villa, surely this was / is one of the things our new links with Nike should be addressing from day one?

Same issue in South Wales and West London. Can't find one anywhere. Not wishing to moan but the price difference between our shops and and non-villa outlets is quite large. Combine this with printing costs. It costs £5 for any name and number in JJB yet costs £11.95 in our shop. Just wondering what the reasons are for this large price difference? I appreciate that these may not be as important as other issues so understand if this question gets overlooked.
