Said it before, but I would really love for us to have a technical striker, a “cultured finisher” with a variety of goals in his arsenal.

Someone who has more approaches than blasting it hard and low. Can take on the keeper, excellent in one on ones, chips, lobs, volleys, headers, curlers, pile drivers… the lot basically 🤣

Who was the last player we had like this? This seem to be a dying art form imo, it’s supposed to be the beautiful game! 😆

I'd say the last technical striker we had was Angel.. would love to have a player just like him in his prime right now.

  2. Hearing this now, and seeing how we played against Brentford makes you wonder how long it is has been in the pipeline.

The formation, playing style and personal used against Brentford is exactly how I would expect Emery to set up the team..

4-2-3-1 with a double pivot is pretty much his trademark

  3. Id like to see another midfielder to come in and replace McGinn.. but having being given the armband it looks like he is considered an automatic start :(

I've never felt Ings was good enough and Watkins now struggles for service since we stopped playing with out and out wingers.. as a La Liga fan, the De Tomas rumours are exciting, he is a great finisher, good ball control and best of all he can win a tackle better than anyone in our midfield, he can score goals by himself and would do well in our current team with a lot of play going through the middle

  4. Would love it if Ireland came good.. if he plays like he did during that season at Citeh then we have a star on our hands.

But we've been here before with numerous players, Curcic, Collymore, Milosevic even Angel to an extent, players who were better on paper than they were on the pitch

  5. General

I'm 31 and have loved Aston Villa since attending my first game at 5 year old. There have been ups and downs in that time and through everything I still loved my club and most of all I was proud of my club.

Even through the horrible O'Leary years, when I would wince at every mention of the "honest bunch of lads" I was still proud of Aston Villa. Even when we were knocked out of the league cup after a hammering by Doncaster I was proud of my club. More recently we were destroyed 6-0 by a recently promoted Newcastle and STILL I was proud of my club.

General.. after the news regarding McLeish I am no longer proud, for the first time I am ashamed of my club.

Perhaps pride isn't important from a business point of view but I tell you this, the fans are. You see that Lion on our crest, to me it stands for pride. If the board appoint McLeish, not only would you have tainted our "Proud History" but you can also wave goodbye to our "Bright Future"

  6. So Nicky Shorey isn't completely shit.

I think he's a decent player, but he's not a good enough defender when your up against it.. and unfortunately the way we've played the last 6 months we've up against it more often than not

When we are comfortable he's a good option because he offers a lot going forward
