  1. Hats off to Mr Moyes and his side - a proper football club and an example we could learn a lot from.

I was saying similar to my friend at the game today. Moyes has built a team around four or five key individuals who ensure the team stay together. He's been there a decade now and Phil Neville, Pienaar, Osmanm Fellaini, Howard, Distin etc all play the Moyes way. He's had time to do this and has had some dodgy spells, but patience in the right man has its virtue.

Today was bloody awful for Villa and like everyone else I was shellshocked at half time. I have faith in PL and believe we need to give him both the time (and the funds) to build a team in his own mould.

Few positives, I thought Baker made a few vital blocks in the second half, KEA looked tidy. Given a concern, N'Zog needs a serious confidence boost, and we missed Ireland IMHO.

  2. General Krulak Sir,

Pleasure to be in touch with you, and appreciate any insight you might be able to offer on this.

For well over a decade, Villa have been on a rotation of a new home kit per season. This is very much against the trend of many of the larger Premiership clubs - eg Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool all change every two years.

I am sure there are reasons why annual changes happen, however I have always felt that a twice yearly change will make people more likely to buy a new shirt. After only a season, I rarely want to buy a new shirt, even if it's significantly nicer than the old one, as at £40+ they are not cheap items. I will stick with the one I have until it wears out (often more than two years) and replace it only then.

I was therefore wondering whether this was anything the club had ever considered?

Thanks in advance for your time.

  3. I can totally understand why people don't like smoky atmospheres. I just think the adult way forward is choice for all.

Choice for all. I like it.

Thing is, that by default to me means that the ban makes sense. Pubs are smoke-free, yet smokers can still go outside and light up. Freedom of choice for all. Those who want to avoid smoke can, those who want to do so still can.

    Perfection.

  4. Wolves is where I was brought up and consider home, so it's got to be them. To make up for this season another local derby would be great, whether it's Wolves, West Brom or even Derby. All are closer than Sheffield, this season's closest thing to one.

Got a sneaking suspicion Southampton are going to do it though, they're the form team.

Not WBA. They are horrible in bred yam yams with no concept of how to speak properly.

Wolves for me, a proper old-style English football club with history to back them up and a decent fan base.

Interesting, you could apply the same description to the other team and it'd still be 100% accurate. :)

  5. The article states "a fifth of Londoners having had their bank details stolen" which seems to imply of London as a whole, not just those on the register. With London's population at around 7m, that seems like a truly ridiculous figure. That said, it makes sense that London has significantly more than elsewhere, the capital city generally does, especially one that is as dominant in terms of population as elsewhere.

But you don't have to be dim to have your bank account tapped into. It happened to me despite my shredding all my unwanted mail before throwing it away, despite paranoia over who gets my bank details, and despite using careful, well thought-out passwords. First sign I got was checking online banking and finding that my overdraft had been maxed out. Not an experience I recommend, but to be honest you're powerless - your details are as secure as the operative in the call centre who gets access to them daily wants them to be, whether they be at your bank (every detail under the sun), mobile phone provider (name, address, credit card and/or bank account), cable television company, etc, etc, etc. It's a long human chain, one that relies on trust and integrity, and one that is, sadly, always going to be exploited.

  6. I'd like to see them and the baggies come up, there's at least 2 London clubs going down and the Midlands is under represented in the top flight. The derby hoo doo has been put to bed now and we could do with 12 more points at the end of next season when we're trying to get into Europe. :winkold:

I've got to agree with that. I'd much rather have some more Midlands teams in the top flight, even if I don't want them to be very successful. The best way to get international attention on our region is to have some Midlands teams in the top flight. To that end, I actively hope that Albion and Wolves make it up, wouldn't mind Blues too much (as long as we beat them…) and would even welcome my current home town Stoke.

  7. I would find it difficult to do without my radio. I'm an information hound, I always like to know what is going on wherever I am, and with the radio I can listen even while I'm doing other things at the same time.

It's Five Live for sport and news, and Talk Sport whenever I fancy hearing a bit of inane football chatter - TS isn't the station it once was, but in small doses it's pretty enjoyable, especially if you pick and choose your shows well.

Radio for music though? Nah. Haven't listened to music radio for any considerable length of time since 1994. Internet radio stations offering the precise genres of music I want are just so much better, and when I'm on the road, my iPod covers that.

Podcasting is also becoming a very compelling medium, there are some excellent football ones - including a Villa one shock horror - and it's a great chance for catching up with radio shows you miss - Fighting Talk and Sportsweek in particular.

  8. Dead heat between Safari, Camino (both Mac OS X only) and Firefox for me. Use all of them equally, depending on how I feel on the day.

If you're on Windows though, Firefox is the only way to go. 'Tis great.
