  1. I've been running just over 9 months reguarly now - covering about 50km a week . Until my last 4 runs I've had no injury problems at all. However, now after around 2 miles, I get a dull pain on the outside of my left knee which gets so bad I have to stop running.

Looking at sites on the net, it looks like I have iliotibial band syndrome :( Is it worth a trip to the docs over this, and does anybody have any tips for stretching / removing the tightness? Is it safe to run through as I really don't want to stop running.

I used to have a very similar problem. It's a really uncomfortable pain? Feels like somethign just "isn't right"

I went to the docs who suggested my knee cap might be slipping so sent me for physio.

Physio just said it was somethign to do with the muscle not being stretched properly and rubbing against somethign or other.

Point is, he gave me some specific stretches to do, especially before exercise, and it pretty much cleared it up.

Morale of the story, pop into the docs and get referred to a physio. They should sort you out.

Yep that's it. Literally no pain for 2-3 miles, then it gradually builds up as a dull ache on the outside of my left knee until I can't bear it. I'll pop to the doctors. Cheers for the advice, at least knowing stretching worked for you is encouraging.

I've noticed the outer left heel of my running shoe tends to wear out quicker too, so I'm obviously running with a gammy leg which probably isn't helping.

  3. Bought myself a Nike Sportsband a few weeks back, and started getting into running again. Just ran my first 5k in ages in 25.08, and have entered a 10k on June 18th. Loving it.

  4. To be fair the choices in the list are pretty wank!

Jorgen Klinsmen - Couldn't cut it at the biggest club in Germany

Mark Hughes - would give a shot but wouldn't be happy about it

    Gareth Southgate - Wank!

Tony Mowbray - TM vs MON's record at Celtic, say no more!

Sven - Joke checkbook manager! bankrupted Lazio - the english Redknapp. Get Ridsdale on board with him an we would be set

Kevin Keegan - Stands at the touchline with stress balls in his hands, lose 3 games in a row and have a heart attack!

Martin Laursen - Legend yes, manager NO

    Ruud Gullit - Doubt it!

Ron Atkinson - Were not a home for racist pensioners!

I think it is totally disrespectful of you to call Big Ron a "racist pensioner". The guy played a lot of black players during his time at Villa and shouldn't be judged by remarks made off-air during another team's game!

Just becasue he played black players at Villa hes not racist? lol ok

Racist = called a player of black ethnicity a n1gger

    Age 71 = Pensioner

I'm sorry which part of my discription was incorrect?

The fact he's not a racist.

So calling black people n1ggers on air isn't racist?

It was an off the cuff racist remark which he now hugely regrets no doubt. That doesn't make him a full blown racist.

  6. Nope, not at all.

And yeah, I know it ain't really gone away, but it's certainly been stripped right down. I could've been very rich man if I'd have had last years work in 2006/7, but alas I'll have to make do with a paltry single figure percentage this year.

    I'm sure you'll live.
