  1. Did the club even consider requesting the full 9000?

It took them 8 days to sell 5000, they couldn't take a chance on selling another 4000 in 4 days, they'd have to pay for all the tickets they couldn't sell.

  2. Not holding out too much hope for Monday then :(

Typical that one of the only away game days I don't have to work on is the one that will sell out before I can buy a ticket. Oh well.

Theres two for sale on H&V, are you a member on there?

  3. There's nothing like flagging up issues - and this is no exception.

Supporters have written into the club over the past few months with requests for a giant supporter flag at Villa Park for every home game.

So, we've agreed to fund the production of a flag and are giving you, our supporters, the chance to choose the design.

All images pictured below have been created in consultation with small group of supporters.

Marketing Executive Dan Meredith said: "The club is very happy to get involved with this project but it is very much an initiative driven by supporters.

"We think this is a great idea and we are delighted to be funding the project on behalf of our fans.

"We look forward to finding out which design comes out on top."

    The deadline is February 1.

    #4 gets my vote :)

Number 4 , with the numbers in gold .

    Did you mean number 3?

  4. Not the trophies, just the numbers on the the trophies.

    Cheers for asking!!!

Sorry mate my mistake, i did ask about the numbers i just wrote it out wrong. I was in a bit of a rush.

  5. Rubery, Is there a way suggestions can be out forward for number 3 without the numbers on the cups?

I understand its a bit late in the day and as you say there wasnt much response last time round, but I think alot of the people voting against 3 would be in favour of it without the numbers.

    Just an idea

Spoke with Dan at the club.

Number 3 can't have the trophies taken off it as it will go against why people voted for it in the first place.

  6. Thanks B6. Have to say all three look mint like that.

Hmm is costs allow one for the Holte, one for the North and one for away games.....

    Now your talking.

Only one has been agreed. Anythinh else would have to be funded by the fans.

  7. IMO you should only show numbers if you are, or one of the best around.

In my opinion there's only United and liverpool that could take the piss.

Arsenal, Chelsea or whoever else can say what they want about their European Cupless trophy cabinet.

In any case, you're meant to be proud of what you've won and show it off as much as possible. Why be ashamed that we've won all those trophies? What's the point of ever winning anything if it's going to be looked down upon in the future?

I hope we go with #3, we're meant to be proud of our history, and Randy's doing a great job of making sure that's the case.

    Good point...thank you

  8. Four is possibly one of the worst designs for anything - I mean anything!

I went for one, out of those choices it is the best - simple flag. And like people above I'm hoping three is out of date sooner rather than later.

But come on, we're all missing an opportunity to be creative. I've had a go, reliable MSPaint! I'm expecting better from some of you lot - this took me five minutes and some of you clearly have more time to waste than me!!!!

It's all very well saying you can all do better but I asked some time ago on the original thread for help with this and only 2 people replied. It also has a LOT of red tape to get through.

  9. I'm sorry but saying the previous versions of no 4 were worse doesn't make the final version good... looks like something my 9 yr old would cobble together in photoshop...

No. 1 for me - simple and classy.

I also voted for Holte Upper... because I can't be arsed holding it and I always sit in lower

I said it was better not worse. The club wanted the real trophies not a sketched version, which is why the images don't go together.

  10. I've been the one who got this going and it's taken a lot of hard work and 3 years. All you see are 4 images. I've seen loads of variations and designs. It's all too easy to slag off 4 but it's been changed quite a bit from the original. The whole thing was done as a sketch with the Lion holding the Badge as a shield but the club had the photo's put on of the trophies and the badge put in the corner which mixed it up a bit too much. The Idea came from incorporating what we've won, The Lion, the badge and the Star. I challenge anyone to design a flag then get it past club red tape without any changes.

If the vote had gone out a month ago you would have all chosen 4...trust me.

Everyone has their opinion which the guys that drew it will obviously value!!!! and i hope the best design wins whichever one it is, just think before you rip 4 to shreds without thinking what it could have looked like.

  11. Number 1 simple and effective, 2 looks cheap, 4 looks shit and 3 is a bit wank, the type of crap liverpool would unfurl. We are Aston Villa and as such 1 is most suitable.

Are you telling me the Liverbird flag they have is Shit? Would you prefer a giant Villa shirt or just the badge... show a bit creativity.

  12. I saw 4 when it was originally done, it had the trophies done in sketch form and the Lion was holding a shield made from the Villa Badge. The club didn't want that and had the real pictures of the trophies put on and the Badge moved.

I think thats taken a lot out of it, and the fact that it's so different from the others.

  13. I play football down here on Thursdays and on entering the gym told everyone i was off to see the Villa play Birmingham on Sunday, "Birmingham City, is it a cup game"? no i replied, premiership, "are Birmingham in the premiership"? was the baffled response, er yes, well we didn't know that!

  14. Hello General,

Having read the odd comment from some posters on this site regarding our poor relations called blues and the fact that we talk about them too much and that we shouldn't hype up our games with them you may be forgiven for thinking it's just another game.

Personally i believe it's one of our biggest, we've been brought up to loath each other since we were kids and the rivalry is as big as anything in Britain and possibly Europe.

I've paid my £45 and i know that on the day I'll be feeling the pressure along with thousands of my Claret and Blue brothers and sisters around the world.

I'd like to think that everyone on this site feels the same, I'm passionate about my club and when I'm with those 2700 fans inside that Gypsy cursed rubbish dump they call saint Andrews I'll feel every tackle, kick every ball and sing till I'm horse.

My Question....if thats what it is, is to get this message to the team, the players from Brum won't need to be reminded but some of the others may need it pointing out.

    Thank you for your time

  15. Not sure if this one's been mentioned before but I watched the game at Headingley Stadium and a few other Villa fans were there, A couple of them had a great chant, ridiculous? Sure, and doesn't rhyme, but it made me laugh.

To the tune of Karma Chameleon

Gabby Gabby Gabby Gabby Gabby Agbonlahor

    He's fast as ****

    He's fast as fuuuuuuuuuuuuck

    Genius

I think rhyming it with score would be better but never mind.

Gabby Gabby Gabby Gabby Gabby Agbonlahor

    He's fast as ****

    He loves to scoooooooore

    Eh?

Im sure i heard this on Sunday!

  16. I was thinking though as the original song is ALWAYS TAKE THE WEATHER with you

maybe it would be better if the chorus was :-

Everywhere you go always take the Villa with you

Everywhere you go you always take the Villa

Everywhere you go always take the Villa with you

Everywhere you go always take the Villa, take the Villa with you!

I was going to suggest this myself, but i thing apart from that its a wonderfull effort but like most decent songs it's very difficult to get them going. Good luck
