  1. Filbert - I do agree with you to be honest. I've said ever since that was a huge, huge moment in both our seasons. That win would've been huge for us and Sherwood and this side have never recovered from the shell shock of that 20 minutes. We forget how well we played for an hour of that game. Sherwood will regret the last 20 minutes of that match for the rest of his limited career in management.

  2. I have 2 glimmers of hope... 1 is that we haven't yet been beaten out of sight and have had spells in every game where we have looked like we may just sneak something out of it.

The other is that we have not seen anything like our strongest 11 this season. From the starting 11 last night I would make a minimum of 7 changes. That gives the team a whole new look.

  3. Lambert got a longer grace period because he had a job that required it. Sherwood's brief is to build on the platform Lambert left and he's bought over 50 million quid's worth of players in one go. I certainly expect us to be able to hold a 2-0 lead away at Leicester at this point in his tenure.

The platform left by Lambert?? Are you having a laugh!?! Lambert left a sinking ship. The only good thing he did for the club was bringing in Benteke which has enabled Sherwood to embark on something of a rebuild required as a result of the wider mess Lambert left. It was never going to be an overnight fix. But compare our 2 x performances at Leicester (at the end of Lamberts tenure, and this one under Sherwood.) no comparison.

  4. Currently sat in the 'we'll be fine' camp but desperate to see some of the decentish performances we're seeing turn into points. I don't think it's beyond daft to suggest that we could (should?) have at least another 4/5/6 points on the board. If our side of the last 5 years has been good enough to survive then this one certainly is.

i think this team has the potential to put a run of games together that would see a reasonable points return over a relatively short space of time. I don't think I've felt that about a villa team for a while. Cut out daft mistakes, make the right changes at the right time and I think this team has potential to be a good PL team.

  5. Wow... Given the confidence in reporting and back page spread I'm pretty sure this has legs. Not sure what to make of it... Squad player? Would Berba sign up on those terms? But boy, can he play. Think of him threading balls through to the likes of Ayew, Sinclair and Gabby!

  6. One thing i really dont buy is this 'not motivated for the cup final' nonsense.  It is said as if fact.  If we play to 100% of our ability and they also do the same (as they did) then they batter us.  Don't mistake them and their £££££££££££££s of players turning up on cup final day for us not being motivated.  It's just rubbish.

  7. Would have been far more gutted had we lost by the odd goal or run them close. But having been thoroughly outplayed from first minute to last, have woken up this morning a bit dissppointed but pretty much over it. Big summer for Sherwood ahead. My only question is whether we could have parked the bus then hit them later on. Thing is, with arsenal in that mood don't think it would have made a difference.

  8. When the pressure has really, really been on under Tim we have turned up, big time. I think we'll do the same tomorrow.

I know people will chuck the Southampton game in as an example but I didn't and still don't consider have that to been a high stakes match - as was proved by the fact we were safe by the end of that particular afternoon.

  9. Interesting that most Arsenal fans/linked journos think that Wenger will revert to his favoured frontman in Giroud rather than Walcott, despite his goals at the weekend. Whilst Giroud is no doubt a threat, I'd feel more nervous about facing Walcott for some reason. Perhaps conceivable given that Walcott may well be out of the club in the summer.

  10. Going to catch the train instead. Is that right with Chiltern trains you have to change twice at Leamington and Banbury?? There is no direct service??

No changes required. Direct from Moor St to Wembley Stadium
How are you seeing these direct services mate? Just called them and they say you have to change at High Wycombe only rather then Banbury and Leamington like I saw before?? On site now and says change at Leamington.

What website you using? As some trains you have to change, but most are direct to Wembley or Marylebone as we are doing...Go on the trainline.com that's what we used to book ours with
On there now. Can see direct to Marylebone you mentioned from Moor Street but nothing direct to Wembley Stadium without having to change at Leamington or Marylebone? Booked it anyway with the change at Leamington. Thanks for the help.

    .

They don't confirm the full timetable till a week before (so anytime now). Basically they just add an additional stop on the trains theough to Marylebone (Wembley Stadium). Same for the return.

  11. Think the new criteria is "attended" 6 games home or away this season which is different to booking history? Wonder if games yet to be played don't count?

Interesting ....but I'm sure it will still be done on booking history as otherwise how would the club know which games people had attended

Yes, they'll assume games played so far on booking history are ones you have attended! I'm questioning whether they'll count Burnley/ Southampton - I think the wording may be deliberate, but who knows!

Good luck to those wishing to get one tomorrow.

  13. The football family tickets go to people who deserve them. Yes, very often they're farmed out from there in a way they shouldn't be. And yes, maybe an England game or two would be more appropriate.

I have far more of a gripe with the corporates.

I would imagine far less go to the football 'family' than go to sponsors, corporates etc. they catch them al under the same banner but I have no doubt who gets the most. Surely the appropriate time to recognise the football family is the community shield?

  14. For those of you looking to buy tomorrow - I'd think that if you get on early enough you'll be fine. Just looked at availability and is showing as 2 x green blocks and 8 x amber. Even if no more blocks are released I'd think that'd mean some tickets will be available.
