  1. suprise suprise that they get off the hook-i agree if it was a non london club then they'd have thrown the book at them (they probably prattled on about how many england players they have prduced etc etc)

oh and i bet mr brooking had a few words to say

kind of like the payment irregularites when spurs got off the hook while swindon got dumped on from a great height

  2. Another idea - would it be possible for Villa Park to host concerts and the like - that could make a little more use of the stadium when Villa are not playing.

they tried that one before but didn't it have to stop because of complaints from the local residents etc

you know the ones who must have missed that whacking great football stadium when they bought/moved into the properties

  3. Is it likely that we might see the kind of service that one gets at some American sports facilities where Bill the Beerman or the hot dog guy/peanut vendor work the aisles during the game and serves you while you are seated.

The only problem with this is that american sports on the whole are stop start affairs with breaks in between the action ideal for a guy to sell you food .I'm pretty sure none of us would want to miss a villa goal because the guy infront was ordering a hot dog and thus the vendor was blocking the view.

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire.... General Krulak

  4. welcome mr general sir :)

fantastic not only to see that your posting on the fans websites but that you are actually reading queries and questions and then responding-what a refreshing change all this makes to us especially-we used to get asked to move on if we loitered outside the gates to long!

your certainly going the right way about involving the fams what with the coaches to chelsea and the open training session (a fantastic idea that should be continued that brings in the young kids ie the next generation of support)

but hey thats no suprise your an american and if there's one thing you do well over there its customer service-something sadly this country has an awful lot to learn about.hopefully as you say this will filter down to such things as the half time food and drink-i am one of the people who regularly keeps the money in my back pocket that i would willingly spend inside villa park due to the massive queues and lack of timely service before the 2nd half.

anyway all the good will in the world and here's to all of us working together trying to make us mighty once again

  5. i could just imagine the outcry if doug would have suggested this!!!!

that said we need to be looking forward (like we haven't been for so long) and as has been mentioned already if the money was good enough and went into the team i don't think i would have a problem with it-i would still call it villa park and so would every other villa fan.

though i do agree with some other posters in that the sponsor would have to have a decent sounding name

  6. That might be the mob VD, but what he has done to try and discredit the Lerner bid in an attempt to make his own more attractive - rather than actually use details from his own bid to do that (and £30m is not what I mean) is pathetic. We want grass roots change at Villa, not a short term £30m thrown at the first team. We've waited 24 years to get rid of Ellis. I am prepared to let 1 more transfer window slip by if it means getting the right man in for the long term. I will not sacrifice the long term so I can have a transfer budget for the next week. And I wouldn't look too kindly on someone who I perceive to be damaging the attempts of the best bidder and who is trying to win me over with short termism. **** off Padfield.

stop sitting on the fence-you'll get splinters

that's exactly my stance of this issue-and you saved me typing it all out-cheers

  7. And now they try and use patriotism in their argument. How desperate are they

I'll tell you why he's using this though , he must of watched that stupid cow that the BBC randomly interviewed in B'ham , who said "she felt it was a shame that a B'ham club was being sold to some Americans " ,oh shut up woman this "American" plans to do more for the club than anybody in over 20 years

was that the 40/50 year oldish woman i saw on the local news the other other night too?

looked and sounded like she knew the ins and outs of the deal didn't she

    what a joke that was!!!

i love it when they go out on to the streets of birmingham during the day to gauge reaction to something like this-oh what a suprise we can't find a fan who knows anything about it so we'll just interview some random dear who happens to be doing her shopping in m and s.

  8. Guys look

We are in a win-win situation

if this guy can make a bid that is genuinely better for Villa than lerner then he should be welcomed with open arms. let him bid, lets see the details, and then we can compare with Randy. To slag the guy off before then is IMO just silliness.

i agree, at the end of the day we all want whats best for the villa and without seeing the ins and outs of each bid nobody can say which one is the best at this point

the only annoying thing about it would be doug getting yet more money off the back of the club

  9. i think we are all still optimistic of ellis departing-its just the timing that worries me

ellis gone or not doesn't change how the team perform on the pitch and even with MON producing miracles we still have a very thin squad once the transfer window closes who will struggle through to january as they are especially with injuries. (and going on past years there aren't a huge amount of decent players available in that window that clubs allow to leave)

obviously the quicker things go through the more chance we have of bringing some players in before the deadline at the end of the month

bar that the future looks bright in a shade of claret and blue :P

  10. RL jet update.

it's been busy this week. Yesterday it flew Green Bay to Cleveland, and then when I switched off around midnight it was heading to RL's home. Given that it's Friday I didn't expect to see it move but it appears that Santa Claus is coming to town. It is currently en route to another airport in the UK than Birmingham that would put him in position to meet Rothschilds

Unless there is any major sporting event, movie premiere etc in London that takes the mans fancy, it looks like today could well be the day.

All I can say is this man appears to be working damned hard to fulfil our dreams.

I'm going out on a limb here... but if Randy signs up with MON tomorrow, I'm voting "thetrees" for VillaTalk poster of the year

... but if not, you're going in "the book"

he'll need a special award for that work if its correct :D maybe the new randy doll????

wonder if bill is getting all this down for yet another 'exclusive' :winkold:

  11. if Lerner really was 15mins away from 'writing a cheque' last week then it can't take much for him to be back in the same position, can it?

i can just see him sat in the office and asking for a pen to sign the deal and doug telling the room he can't find one and funnily enough there doesn't seem to be one in the whole of birmingham

  12. Danish billionaire Mr. Maersk Mc-Kinney Moeller who owns the shipping company Maersk?

now there's a man who would be able to get his hands on a freight container quick shaprish- very suitable to hide doug away during negotiations :D

dropped at the bottom of the mid atlantic rift would be a plus also
