  1. I suspect there will be a team full of intent on Sunday, Bruce has cajoled them but not no more and tbh I think he should have said those things after the Leeds game. I think we have good players for this division, but they all need to show it now. If anyone wants to go in January, leave them out and lets have a spirit in the team. I am surprised by the continual exclusion of Tishibola, he seems to be an ideal foil for Jedinak and I hope he gets a chance on Sunday. Bacuna was doing well in midfield, but I would put him right back for the next few games. Ayew doesn't seem to want to be here, he has got talent but leave him out. I want players who are committed to the club. I hope Baker is back for Sunday as his partnership with Chester looks good.

  2. How much space was Hutton given on the right side, especially in the first half? Loads, and what did he do with it, nothing, nowt, feck all spring to mind. I think we need to get Bacuna there till January, even though I thought he was doing a decent job in the middle to be fair

  3. mmm, Richards would be in the centre there I reckon, the amount Hull are asking for that Robertson who could not get in their team could he is a laugh, would love a strong DFM and Gill and Benteke will be gone unfortunately, though after last night we may have hopes with Benteke lol. Other than that brilliant :)

  4. I cannot understand why any Villa fan would not want Richards in their team as one of their main players. He really is a top player and a massive improvement on what we have. Heard him on the radio the other week and all he wants to do now is play.

  5. I extremely doubt that. The bloke stayed at City rotting away on their bench for about 5 years just for a bit of extra money.

First of all he had not been on their bench for 5 years, secondly it is alleged Sunderland offered 25k a week more. If that is your argument, it really does not add up IMO. As for Villa, I reckon he would be a great signing

  6. Only read this page and totally agree with VillaForever1970.

It is all very well saying he is playing in a shite team and getting bored etc, but the fact is he is playing for Aston Villa Football Club and he needs to start performing for them. He can blame the likes of KEA as someone mentioned, but in the end he has been shite as well this season. I accept second season syndrome, but 110% effort is a must for me

  7. Petrov certainly didnt become captain as soon as he joined.

I would like all the team to be leaders, as in the golden era. Sir Dennis was the captain, but was not massively demonstrative. We had leaders like the two centre backs, Peter Withe especially, Des Bremner, Kenny Swain, Jimmy Rimmer and even Gordon Cowans took control. I wouldnt mind Bent as captain and lead by example so long as he had others helping him out. Know a forward generally is frowned on, but he seems to have the respect of the players and is a team player

  8. John, lets be honest, did you think when Kenny Swain when he made his debut, he would become to any normal observer the best right back in the country. Can you remember Swains debut and the position he played, my motm by the way, but that aint a good clue lol

  9. I remember being in a London group singing Tony Cascarino in the air when I heard he had signed on the way to Calais I was suitably pist on way back and think he was more unsteady than me throughout his Villa career. Thought he would be the missing link, unlike another article when I didnt think Peter Withe would be. Shows I know my football stuff

  10. John, you are so right. Jimmy Rimmer was an Arsenal reject as they wanted pat Jennings, Kenny Swain, how was he a right back. Ken McNaught to many seemed a slow oaf and he perhaps was, but turned out to be a great player for the club despite the love of my love of Chris Nicholl. Evans you have said. Bremner and Morley were certainly not known and I have said on here a few times about the first time I saw Des v Arsenal at home, he looked awful.

  11. Anyone can play for Ireland or Scotland or Wales.

Only those who are Irish, Scots or Welsh or have close family links to those countries TRS-T. :winkold: You also need to be a half decent player and that has included the likes of McGrath, Best, Law and Charles....

Totally agree John, but can I say Tony Cascarino was a fraud, on both counts :)

  12. I think 8th-10th would be excellent, just looking forward to seeing a Villa team with a few midfielders and attackers in the team rather than the system invented by you know who and nicked by Spain

  13. my understanding is that there will be a marquee signing.

I generally am all for the value for money, on the way up, hungry ambitious young players.

Ron Saunders seemed to make a decent job of it.

    Sammy Morgan?

    Welcome Matt BTW.

Turnbull, Vic Crowe bought six foot two eyes are blue, Sammy Morgans after you. Do you recall his bullying of Bob Wilson, got sent off in the first game at Highbury and the reply was four days later and in those days he was allowed to play. Poor old Bob was a quivering wreck :D

  14. I am more confident now than I have been since about 10 months before MON left when the cracks appeared to show in his relationship with the chairman. Paul Lambert seems to have the backing of both the fans and the owner, seems to be able to find players and seems to be able to put together a team playing good football. I am not expecting miracles and will be happy with better football on show and an improvement on last season. Maybe the signings have not been what some expect, but lets be realistic and at least give them a chance.

  15. Norwich will do well to stay up next year, 2nd season syndrome, a new manager, there will be a lot of changes and as we have said that team is not exactly littered with quality. I dont doubt that Hughton is a good manager but has he really be under much pressure? Had a newcastle team full of Premiership players and a soon to be £36mil striker, got sacked while doing ok, and didnt even get promoted with a strong blues team.

Strong Blues team, that is a contradiction in itself surely :) . Have to say I thought Hughton did very well to get that rabble to the play offs

  16. Macca 252 appearances over 7 years & I don't recall him putting a foot wrong (on the pitch)

The guy was mesmerising to watch

I'd put Gareth Barry as a close second

Did you see him play at home to QPR when Francis got a hat trick, Im sure even God would admit he was rubbish then if he remembered the game
