Ridiculous decision to let him go and not try to persuade him to stay. Our squad is completely depleted. We need a new manger and a host of new players. O'Neill re-built and we need to again, but have substantially less funds
-
And the exclusive will say....Martinez is a great man and manager and I wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted to leave etc. There's NO news about an approach from us
-
Anyone know if it is being streamed online anywhere?
-

Having spoken to a couple of people on the inside at Villa today, the feedback was that it was like a dark cloud had been lifted...everyone felt like they had been treading on eggshells for some time under O'Neill. All I have heard about Kevin MacDonald is positive comments and how well respected he is around the club. Perhaps the future is bright after all. Up the Villa!

.....Thats interesting,
I'm not sure what will happen, but I would suspect that, if he goes it will be of his own volition.
I suspect some folk will look at the departures
Arron Hughes
Craig Gardner
Kevin Phillips
Gary Cahill
Steven Davis
JLloyd Samuel
Gavin McCann
Thomas Sorensen
Zat Knight
Liam Ridgewell
and say we have spent c £100 million to improve our squad and yet these boys above are still performing in the prem and are not involved in any relegation teams.....??????? just being devils advocate.
ps ....yes davis is in the SPL, but still a decent standard of team.
Right then....
Arron Hughes-At Fulham not better than Luke Young or Cuellar at RB
Craig Gardner-shame he didn't get more of a chance really
Kevin Phillips-aged 138..good goalscorer but way past his best
Gary Cahill-IMO should never have gone..especially after his goal against the scum :winkold:
Steven Davis-playing SCOTTISH football
JLloyd Samuel-at Bolton..not better than Shorey/Bouma or Warnock
Gavin McCann-Bolton and struggles to play
Thomas Sorensen-We have Friedel and Guzan..maybe could have stayed but fell out with MON
Zat Knight-We have Davies/Cuellar/Dunne/Clark/Collins Villa fan but too prone to a mistake
Liam Ridgewell-seems to be doin quite well at LB for the scum
Shaun Maloney-Again, shame he didn't get more of a chance

fantastic result in the end...3 pronged attack of Milner, Downing and Young switching looked real dangerous. Downing was class played some real nice passes and had a couple of good runs and deserved the goal.
We did look a bit lightweight in the middle at times but i think Milner will come good there. Heskey looked dangerous all game(yep i mean it). Overall a very pleasing win and all 3000 of us sung our hearts out

I'm sorry that i ever doubted O'Neill's eye for a centre back. James Collins was immense again tonight as was Richard Dunne, those two look absolutely imperious at the back, they won almost every header, 50/50 challenge and their slide in tackles were always well timed.
Gabby had another belter, the lad worked hard all game and some of his runs in the second half were inspiring stuff. Milner also worked tirelessly, at one point late in the second half when we had a throw in in city's half he raced across from the left flank to the right to offer an option.
If we had 11 players who put as much effort in as Gabby, Milner and the centre half pairing we'd be champions league material.
I really think that when Downing comes into the team and Delph gets a little more premiership experience that we could have one of the best teams in the league.
Great performance lads!
top post...well said!!

4-5-1 is our best formation....if we do fall behind which is fairly unlikely as we proved last season playin this formation (and we managed 2 grind out results before 442 and slip sliding) then we have IMO very good option 2 mix it up with heskey, delph, downing to come and of course big john carew..amongst others!
very happy 2day i will always love the villa and the last 6/7 days in particular reminded me why
