  1. I want rid.

I've never had an ounce of affection for Liverpool (or especially) their fans, so I was mortified by the comment.

Him leading us into a relegation battle hasn't helped.

I just have this feeling he will get us relegated, shrug his shoulders, and then leave thinking 'Oh well, I gave it a go.'

I don't think he's got any passion for the club at all.

  2. General, thanks for the work in communicating with us fans once more; i've been a bit of a lurker on this thread and haven't asked anything yet, but...

I'm not sure if you can answer this, but, last year, while the negotiations were going on, it was reported in the media that there was some kind of bust up between DE and Randy, which resulted in Randy getting his jet back, and his personal spokesman saying that his interest was over. A couple of weeks later, there seemed to be an about-turn and Randy again appeared interested in buying the club, and obviously then the sale went through. The media seemed to guess at what happened, but nothing conclusive was really ever established, and I was just wondering if you were in a position, now all the dust has settled, to say what happened?

  3. Adding the above to the post of the POSSIBLE signings i created would give us a outlay of:-

    ------------ Gordon - Sorenson/Taylor -----------

    Lahm ------ Metersacker ------ Laursen ---- Bouma

    Delaney ---- Mellberg ------------ Cahill ---- Armand

    A. Young ---- Petrov ------ Sneijder ----- Berger

    Gardner --- R. Coker? ------ Barry ------- Nasri

    ------------------------ Maloney --------------------

    ------------- Carew ----------- Agbonlahor -------

    ------ Defoe / L. Moore? -------- Fred -----------

Perfectly capable to qualify for europe!!

....Let's hope MON can make it happen! :winkold:

Can't see Barry moving into the middle, particularly as I can't see Reo Coker playing simply a holding role.

  4. With regards to the West Brom issue, they staying down and all the links to their players throughout the season, I do think MON has shortlisted three or four of their players (McShane, Davies, Koumas and Kamara), but only as 3rd or even 4th or 5th priority.

Obviously MON has drawn up a list of positions he wants filled and probably got 3, 4 or maybe even 5 names for each position. IMO all the WBA players are lower priorities should it prove difficult to bring in the main targets.

For fun I've made a list of the positions it seems MON is looking at and what players I believe he has on his shortlist (1st priorities named 1st and so on):

    GK: Boruc, Gordon, ?

RB: Richards, Jagielka, Young, de Jong, McShane

    CB: ?, ?, Davies (haven't got a clue really, but I don't think Davies is 1st choice)

LB: Antunes (cover for Bouma if we don't get Taylor?)

    RM/RW: SWP, Milner, ?

    LM/LW: Taylor, Cook

CM: Sneijder (don't think it will happen), Reo-Coker, Källström, Emana, Koumas

ST: Bellamy (yes I believe MON's fascination with Bellamy is quite big), Huntelaar, Bent, Fabiano, Kone, Kamara, Nugent, Naismith, Sharp

Out of those players I predict we'll end up with Gordon, Jagielka, Taylor, Reo-Coker and Bellamy. And probably two or three others (a CB amongst others) that my radar hasn't picked up yet. A long shot could be Norwegian CB Brede Hangeland of FC Copenhagen.

I think he's almost certain to sign a DM to replace McCann. As far as I see it, his biggest priorities are a new DM, a new striker, and a new GK.

  5. One concern I would have about signing him is not that he wouldn;t be able to handle himself in the ENglish Prem as he puts himself about a fair bit, but whether he would WANT to handle himself, or just swan around a bit as, in his eyes, hes not at a massive club. Some could argue we're similar to Ajax - but they're HIS club.

Ajax are one of the biggest clubs in europe. :? But we do have the premier league which is a big attraction.

Also haven't Bayern missed out on the Champions League which will dent their chances.?

Ajax are a big club and do have a rich history but they also play in a poor league and have always been a selling club. We are a bigger club in that respect.

I'd agree with you to some extent re Ajax being a selling club, but the thing that really gives them that reputation as I see it was the breakup of their best ever squad in the aftermath of the Bosman ruling, something largely beyond their control. That doesnt make them any less of a massive club really.

  6. Like Micheal Essien, Christiano Ronaldo, Ubafemi Martins.

Are they Michael, Cristiano and Obafemi's brothers?

I think a number of players are overhyped because they are foreign. Michael Essien, Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooy were always too good for us. As a general rule, I think we should stick with what we know. I'd much rather Darren Bent than Saviola. That's not to say that if there are gems or bargains to be found abroad, we oughtn't to go for them - we should, of course - but I just feel we ought to remember that sometimes John Smith can be just as good as Juan Federico de Ninho.

John Smith just costs 3m more.

  7. I just don't think you should completely write off his bid just for saying ''We are not American, and want to fly the flag."

I dont think he is trying to be xenophobic just that this is an English club competing in an English sport and that could give them an advantage one he would like to remind the fans of. As I've said I'm not saying I want Padfeild to win, but I don't see why people are so whole-heartly behind one bid as a pose to another when not much is known about one if not either.

Because, as I've said before and will continue to say..... It isn't just about one comment from Padfield or AV06. I've said my various reasons are in this thread and others.

Its a combination of things that have made me very wary.

To put it simply - I do not want someone in control of AVFC who are happy to resort to some of the comments and tactics we've seen over the past couple of days.

I'm standing right beside you on this one Runetune. 8)

    Shoulder to shoulder :P

Notice, :P I didn't stay standing right 'behind' you.

Looks like your moral high ground on Padfield's xenophobia just collapsed, mind..

:? Just trying to lighten the mood icklevillan. If I've offended, Im genuinely sorry.

Would have thought someone from California would have known better. Never been to Venice Beach, clearly ;):P

  10. I wouldn't get to excited guys, if it doesn't happen it will just be a whole load of disappointment like the other times

    Change the record ffs.

To be honest, this thread is 338 pages long. Is there ANYTHING that hasn't been said a million times before by now?

  11. It was GT's quote, not Neville's.

Aye I know. My post was badly put.

I was trying to say that the motives are basically the same - they would (if we take them charitably) want to make a success out of the club, and make money, too. So why are the motives different?

MN doesn't have much money, Lerner has shed loads.

Lerner owns a US sporting club, Neville has no experience at all of owning a professional club.

Lerner's said nothing, Neville's said plenty, but done what exactly?

If Neville has anything to do with this I'd be worried. Tubthumping nationalism isn't the best criterion for making a decision. Ask the FA what they think in four years time.

  12. Problem is why is the price still £5.00 if a takeover at £5.60 is imminent. Market forces should dictate a price far closer to the £5.60 mark.

There is no supply. Who is going to sell at £5 when they know with certainty they will get £5.60 if they want in the next month. You would need to bid over £5.60 to tempt someone, wouldn't you, and why would you do that when you know they're only worth £5.60?

The lowest anyone's willing to sell is 5.05 actually. You'd be able to pick up some shares for that, and if you're certain it wont fall back - then the easy money is yours.

  13. I don't think this is the done deal people think just yet.

There's very very very low liquidity in this stock, thats usually a sign that people are uncertain. It means that those holding the stock don't want to sell just in case, but no-one wants to pump their money in as they're not sure its going to happen. If the market's as uncertain as it is (6 trades in all of yesterday), its going to take more than a few Bill Howell reports to convince me this is happening.
