  1. Welcome General to Aston Villa

    I can't believe what's happened to our club over the last few weeks. We've gone from despair to joy in just a short time and I hope that you and Mr Lerner have plenty of joyous times here with us at the Villa.

    It'll take time to come but as the Cup matches are showing the supporters now believe something positive is occuring at our club with tickets selling out in in a couple of days, brilliant!

    Let the good times roll!

    Up the Villa!

  2. What do we call our new found destroyer? Ozzy/Izzy are obvious, Richard suggested Shazza in ode to 'TINA' Gardner (and Sharon Osbourne of course). Isaiah is a bit of a mouthful when drunk and that 'silent' a is gonna be a major bugbare of mine.

    Or how about 'Iron Man Isaiah', like the Sabbath classic? Any other wierd and wonderful suggestions? I'll be using Ozzy till you lot tell me otherwise :D

    (P.S. Poll please Mods :winkold: )

    Some lads behind me last night started singing "Ozzy! Ozzy! Ozzy! Oi! Oi! Oi!". It was very funny at the time cuz it didn't quite catch on!

    :lol:

  3. So with £100m in the warchest.........

    :?

    ........who do you want, who do you think we should get and so on.

    Personally, I'd like;

    Right back and left back

    Two wingers

    Anyone else except Baros

    ..........For the love of God, why?

    Why is he to be the next scapegoat?

    What has he done wrong, other than score goals that helped us stay up last season? :bang::bang:

    I agree, what's wrong with him? Scored v the teams that mattered last season, Sunderland, Pompey, Olybion and Scum Heath and kept us up!

  4. I don't think we should have a star on the jersey.

    It's 25 years ago and the club isn't amongst the top clubs anymore. Imagine

    Nottingham Forest doing the same, it wouldn't be right. And on the other side;

    wouldn't other fans and clubs just laugh at us?

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Notts Forest have 2 stars on one of the sleeves.

    I'm answering my own question but Forest have 2 stars on one of the sleeves of their Home shirt.

  6. Sunderland sold to Niall Quinn for £9m.

    How come Doug wants £64m for the Villa?

    Doug owns a lot of property and has sold some for £7m, £2m less than Sunderland were sold for, how can the 2 clubs values be compared?

  7. Niall Quinn could be Sunderland's new owner by Fri with the takeover going through quickly. Bob Murray quit and sold up which Doug will not do and has no intention of doing so.

    I think it was just a ploy to get the share price to rise which has back fired.

    Still, with all that's happening up at Sunderland it just makes it more infuriating with what's happening at Villa.

    Doug is obviously senile as he can't see that he's the problem whereas Bob Murray cut and ran because the fans had had enough of him.

  8. Death is not the end.

    Unfortunately, Dougs legacy might haunt us for years yet. We need him to sell.

    As a compromise, can we put him in a box now then wait for him to go ?

    Does anyone think that when he does go his legacy will be like when Robert Maxwell died and left a complete mess behind?

  9. Did anyone see the story in one of the tabloids today that Birmingham are going to be put up for sale as Sullivan and Golds want out? Not sure what to make of that one - bet if they do put it up for sale, it goes through before anything at Villa.

    Hopefully villa will be sold before they put it up for sale. Then Ellis can use his new found wealth to buy blues. Now that would be funny.

    He was on their board in the 80s after we **** him off. But for him to go back there would be a scream!! :crylaugh:

  10. Bid for Villa at a vital stage Jan 15 2006

    By Graham Hill

    THE proposed takeover of Aston Villa was at a crucial stage last night with the Irish consortium hoping to buy out Doug Ellis putting the finishing touches to their bid.

    But it has again been emphasised that the Comer Brothers, who have been preparing a £64 million buyout, have NOT pulled out of the deal, contrary to midweek reports.

    Indeed, the pair have been holding top-level meetings over the past few days to discuss the finer points of the deal.

    And it now seems that the next 72 hours will be vital to the eventual outcome of the plan which has been in the public domain since October.

    Things are expected to come to a head one way or the other within the week.

    But sources close to the deal have been quick to pick holes in a number of stories suggesting that the Comers have abandoned their involvement in the takeover.

    Suggestions that Villa have had to fork out £150,000 just to make sure financial deadlines were met have been rubbished, with the figure more like £1,000 - a drop in the ocean considering the sums that have been discussed.

    This is draggin on and on and on and on..........

    First they say 48 hours, now another 72 hours. We should know this week. No doubt with the week up it will be another 2 weeks and the january window will be closed.

    When's the old git's birthday? That's when he'll sell up. I'm still confident the deal will go through otherwise I'll go **** mental, it's beyond comprehension now why he won't sell.

    :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

    I've got the bunting and the booze ready!!!

    :clap::cheers:

  11. Unless of course you believe the fanciful Trust can somehow perusade Ellis just to simply hand over his shares

    This is getting silly now, I mean Ellis can't go on much longer he's gonna have to go sometime isn't he? So perhaps this consortium is the best way forward because no one else is showing any interest. Surely they'll have the clubs best interests at heart?

    JUST **** OFF ELLIS!!! ARRRRGGGGHHH! :bang:

  12. This is just rehashed from old news and made up bollocks.

    Its true that no-one knows whats happening, but I would utterly amazed if the Comers didn't have the money to buy us, which is the basis of this new shit story. Why would they not make it clear that they have the funds? Absolute bollocks imo.

    I keep hearing it's at "Due diligence" stage, it must be close now?
