  1. For me, the midfield would be Sanchez and Gueye, with the 3rd one being between Westwood/Veretout/Grealish.

Traore up front with Gestede/new signing down the middle, and Gil/Ayew/Sinclair on the left.

    Yep.

    I want

    Gana Carlitos

    Grealish Veretout Adama

    Ayew/Gestede

  2. Disappointed with the result and hit or miss by some key players...

Guzan - some good stops, but distribution was awful.

Bacuna - talented but dumb. Makes awful decisions would rather he not play. Gives away corners and free kicks for fun.

    Clark - ok. Handled things.

Richards - solid, like his leadership.

Amavi - a couple of nice runs, but total mentor error led to their winner. He looked shaken by it but i hope it doesnt lead to him getting shy, we need his aggression.

Westwood - needs to sit and observe gana and sanchez fight in midfield, simply no bite to his game these days and no leadership. If he is going to start and continue being a passenger in the middle of the park he needs to deliver on deadballs but his service was dreadful. One good ball to gabby...

Sanchez - no idea why he came off. Broke up play well and changed field well.

Gana - solid. Like the guy, feel bad for him compensating for ashley being lazy.

grealish - talented but selfish. Look up son, you have teammates.

Gabby - if only you could finish...thought he should have come out for adama.

Gestede - starved, won what he could up top. Decent holding up the ball.

Adama - holy crap. Keep going son!

  3. Ironically lacking confidence...which is the last thing I expected to see from an Ayew! Plays with such flourish for Ghana (i think sometimes frustrating folks because he can be careless), to me today he seemed almost shy, unwilling to use his physicality and athleticism to take on defenders and challenge the opposition.

    Time, i hope, will help.

  4. Huge Battlestar fan. This is great. Apollo!

Real talk though: he's built like a bull, has remarkable control and seems to finish well. Why would Barca let him go at 19?

  5. Damn! Got excited with talk of Balanta for a moment there didnt know you guys had started it - with our run of transfers this summer you almost start to believe anything is possible. He's had nagging injuries this past year that have kept him in and out of side at River, but is real class. Former #10 that River converted to CB in the reserves, so he has great touch for a defender and can flex to play as a left back or 5.

Not sure about the dual ownership mentioned. Eder came up the River reserves and i am pretty sure he was a free agent at some point and chose to resign at River. If the club own 80% of his rights, i thought he owned the other 20% personally as part of the deal.

  6. I think picking the starting 11 is going to be a really hard call. With just 8 days to go till the Bournemouth game can Sherwood put out a team featuring 5-7 new players as many suggest, who will have played very little together?

Can't be any worse than last season (as a whole).

I am not questioning the quality of the new players and am quite excited by some of them. My point is whether they can function as a team after so little time together. I don't know of any PL team that has ever started with 5-7 new players from the off - do you?

    Last years Southampton squad?

  7. ----------------Guzan

    Amavi Richards Clark Bacuna

    ---------------Sanchez

    Grealish Veretout Gueye Ayew

    --------------Adebayor

Subs: Gestede, Gil, Westwood, Bunn, Hutton, Gabby

  8. You can never bet on all your transfers landing properly from day one, but thats a really interesting lineup and i am so excited to see how it works.

Nice to have options too. Ayew can play wide or upfront. Gil can play in hole or wide. Etc.

  9. Bienvenue....

What? Is that real? If so Sherwood is REALLY working fast this window. The Jordan strategy is brilliant, sign the first one and then the media will be confused and leave subsequent Jordan sgnings quiet until confusedly announcing done deals.

  10. If you take him at his word, it seems that Jordan has been very encouraged by meeting with Sherwood and his reputation. I wonder if McKay has been using the 'this guy discovered and mentored Kane' angle in his discussions with this round of players that have been delivered from France.

If so, that would be quite encouraging...so long as Tim is able to coax the best out of Jordan^2 and Idrissa. Might also help us swing the scale in case we are in a tight bid race for a Praet or Austin (though I haven't seen enough of Austin to be able to say I want him or not...)
