Just watching the OGS doccie now. Seems like a lovely chap, but very self-assured and ambitious too.
Shame it seems to have been made by MUTV
He comes across as a determined and ambitious young man. It's taking a chance to employ such an inexperienced manager but I think it would be worth a go. He could do it. He states very clearly his philosophy of football (after 13 minutes or so) and it would be attractive.
OK, Ole I'll give you the job.

I believe I give carefully considered opinions. I don't rush in, nor make OTT statements.
McLeish has to go asap. This is relegation football. No confidence, shape or consistency.
Oh, blooming dear.

Hope Gary gets a shout for U21 friendly game next Monday.
The FA site says he has been called up for the game.

Villa can confirm that Alan Hutton and Jermaine Jenas are currently undergoing medicals.
If the deals are completed, right-back Hutton would join permanently while the move for midfielder Jenas would be a season-long loan.
We will update supporters again as soon as we have further news.

Sadly I don't think Albrighton is going to make it as a top player. He has so much to learn, of course, especially re defending, but he has no real 'trick' either and often makes wrong choices.
I hope I'm wrong though.

Looks like a team to try and shut up shop rather than take the game to Fulham...Gut-less line up.
A team with three strikers and very attacking midfielder?
What a stupid post.
... or tongue in cheek

Wakefield, West Yorkshire, is definitely Villa country.
Let's see .. there's me, my wife, my two sons, my two daughters, a few converts at the schools I have taught at ..
No, Leeds fans any more - they're too embarrassed to admit anything.
There may be an odd Man Utd fan or Liverpool.
But no, Wakefield belongs to Villa.

We've a good player but I really think people are underestimating Downing. He's worth every penny of the £20m in this market. We do have a better deal than Liverpool.I agree. Downing has real quality - a class act and class acts cost real money. I'm very sorry he's going.

MM on H&V says that he thinks Bent is about to "have a meltdown"......not sure over what or why, but I don't like the sound of that at all...
I think he means a 'meltdown' as when Bent was signed - very optimistic

It MUST be Gary McAllister after today's result.
I'm going to start a campaign for Gazza.

Who's captain?
OS says Petrov

Thought he did pretty well last night, in his first game back after a career threatening injury.
A welcome return. Didn't help him having to play next to Boss Hogg though. That guy's clearly out of his depth.
I think Hogg is beginning to find his feet at last and could do well.
He breaks up play well and plays the simple pass - every team needs one.

I thought Lichaj did well yesterday but he shows inexperience as you would expect.
We can't have too much inexperience at the same time.

Interesting and very positive article about Gerard at http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2010/09/why_houllier_deserves_respect.html

Etymology
The origin of the name of the product, "duck tape" or "duct tape," is the subject of some disagreement.
One view is that it was called "duck tape" by WWII soldiers either because it resembled strips of cotton duck (canvas) or because the waterproof quality of the tape contributed to the name, by analogy to the water-shedding quality of a duck's plumage. Under this view, soldiers returning home from the war found uses for duck tape around the house where ductwork needed sealing. Other proponents of this view point to older references to non-adhesive cotton duck tape used in Venetian blinds, suggesting that the name was carried over to the adhesive product. The Oxford English Dictionary says that perhaps "duct tape" was originally "duck tape". This view is summarized most notably in a New York Times article by etymologist William Safire in March 2003. Safire cites use of the term "cotton duck tape" in a 1945 advertisement for surplus government property.[18] The Brooklyn Daily Eagle uses the term "duck" in 1902 quotation for "100,000 yards of cotton duck tape" being used to protect the cables of the Brooklyn Bridge.[19] Thus a fabric duck tape was available to which an adhesive could have been added.
