    That scouse result has helped us. Geordies have worst defence now so if we finish level on points and level on goal difference. We will be above them as they have conceded more than us. Come on villa. Bash the mackems. Bash the canaries. Then it's hey ho hey ho up the table we go

    [Piss poor investment. I would like to disagree. Mr Lerner gave GH 30 odd mill for bent and makoun. He then gave mr ginger baldy around 15 mill. We all know what he gave to the defector. So saying piss poor investment is piss poor literally. Mr Lerner has improved the club. One silly mistake shouldn't make him a tight fisted arsehole.

    You are correct in saying he gave GH the best part of 30 mill but that was mainly made up of the 20 odd mill profit we made on transfers the previous summer.

    As for the 15 mill McLeish got to spend we sold Downing, Ashley Young and Luke Young for around 38 mill so he made a profit on transfers of approx 23 million pound.

    As for O’Neill he had a net spend of around 70 - 80mill over 4 seasons so 17.5 – 20 mill a season. With that we went form finishing 16th and battling relegation to season on season improvement, a club that challenged for top 4 for a couple of seasons, finished top 6 three seasons on the spin for the first time in over 50 years and reached our first cup final in a decade. During those three top 6 finishes we had the 8th, 6th and 6th highest wage bill in the league. The fact that Lerner couldn’t get our income up to a level to sustain having the sixth highest wage bill is worrying because it is highly unlikely we will again become a consistent top 6 side if we are not in a position to have a wage bill that reflects that. Of course that is not to say we couldn’t as Newcastle showed last season have the odd very good season. It is maintaining it that will again be an issue.

    Agreed but even with all that investment what came out of it. Did we win anything? Maybe Mr Lerner sees that cutting back and changing attitudes may win us something. The defector sacrificed Europe for champs league and we all know how that went.

    I feel that after the yank trip. Lambo will get a few more in and once the deadwood are shipped out will get more investment to build a better more successful club than the defector could have ever dreamed of.

    12 days into the transfer window and 2 signings, if Mon was still in charge our first signing would be a month away, why is everyone so miserable all the time?

    I'm not miserable, I'm more excited about villa now than I have been in two years. I can't wait for the season to start and to see what life under Lambert will be like.

    I'm not saying it will happen but if it does I do strongly believe that little investment this year is unacceptable. We earn more money than the majority of teams. We've been told our kit deal and sponsorship deal are good. The premier league payouts have increased and I would assume season ticket sales have also increased since the appointment of lambert.

    We've had two years of piss poor investment combined with terrible managerial appointments. We've had two seasons of worrying about relegation and the clubs reputation has taken a big hit. I'm not expecting a spending spree of £60 million or more but I do believe this is the summer that Randy needs to start properly investing again.

    It's amazing what some people will accept just because it's not Doug making the decisions. I guess this point of view makes me a sadsack that nobody gives a toss about. :cry:

    Respect what he has done to the club. Respect what he is doing to the club by bringing in a good hungry manager that has more sense than the defector and will not want instant glory but will build the club.

    WHy won't it happen after Tuesday if nothing is said? I think (IMHO) that the announcement was going to be made AFTER the final game on Friday as soon as the break came. I would say if no announcement by next Monday. But I have a feeling it is going to happen.

    Have written it again as my reply was messy but..

    Things are either beyond the point of no return or closing in on it. If things are to go back the other way then we shall have no more contact, where-as if they are broken to the extreme, there is no point now in staying past tomorrow, even if he did say he would, that was before this all turned ugly.

    And in my eyes, Villa now have to let Molde know if we wish to continue with OGS as a candidate and will do so tomorrow, things will happen now.
