  1. 'James Nursey ‏@JamesNursey

Checked on Lambert compensation row latest between PL, #NCFC & #AVFC . Told still in hands of lawyers. Potential saga methinks'

If he had a straightforward clause in his contract saying he could speak to any premier clubs then why would this be dragging on with solicitors and talks of a tribunal.

Re Culverhouse/Karsa, they are on a rolling 12 month contract with presumeably no clause to speak to anyone else, so if someone else wants them they are going to have to pay 12 months compensation otherwise I suspect they will stay on our employment, presume we are diggng our heels in until the Lambert compensation/clause issue is sorted which could drag on for months.

Or it could be that Culverhouse having played for us, having family ties in Norfolk wants to stay here and be part of CH's coaching team, who knows, none of us we're only guessing.

  2. Their contracts won't run out, as they're on 1 year rolling deals.

So what they run on an on for ever?

Rolling contracts are either permanent 365 days contracts for which you've always got 12 months remaining .

That right and until the clubs agree compensation for the two of them I cant see them going anywhere.

  3. Didn't know what thread to put this in as the relevant one is closed.

I know Gary Karsa's nephew and briefly spoke to him yesterday. He told me he's definately coming to Villa.

    No idea about Culverhouse.

Thats interesting as we havent heard anything out end, did he say when?

Presume they wont join you until compensation is agreed for the two of them as they are on a 12 months rolling contract?

When they left ColU to join Lambert at Norwich Karsa & Culverhouse resigned but they dont appear to have done that yet??

  4. Confirmed that Culverhouse and Karsa are staying now.

McNally on twitter, Culverhouse and Karsa: “they are very much part of the team”. The club had been encouraging Lambert to expand the coaching staff.

Hughton knows Cully quite well from his Spurs days so that was always an option.

But guess that might change if you cough up the cash for the 3 of them, lol

  5. Could it be that Alan Thompson is going to be Lambert's assistant, didnt he used to play for you?

Alan Thompson quits his first-team coaching role at Celtic

Celtic first team coach Alan Thompson has parted company with the club, BBC Scotland has learned.

Thompson was appointed by Neil Lennon in June 2010 alongside assistant manager Johann Mjallby following the sacking of Tony Mowbray.

The Englishman previously won four Scottish Premier League titles as a player with Celtic between 2000-07.

He was also was capped once for England and featured in Celtic's run to the Uefa Cup final against Porto in 2003

  6. Holt only signed a new 3 year deal last July and scored 17 goals last season, so we're in a position to put whatever price on his head we want.

West Ham have apparently bid £4.5 m for him yesterday, think if they push that up to £6m we might consider it, not a bad deal for someone who cost us £400k, 3 years ago and is 32 early next year.

And suppose the player doesn't want to go to Wet Spam but prefers a bigger club?

Well yu are welcome to him for about £6m though the rumour is that Lambert wont be able to approach any of our players for 12 months( same as swansea have with Rodgers)

  7. I think the legal teams are going through this, the point is AVFC approached Norwich for permission, they refused but PL has a clause in his contract to say he can talk to another club, this is why he resigned. Then he started speaking to AVFC, as he's on a rolling contract they can't do a lot in my opinion.

So you've seen his contract have you or are you believing the Sun ? I think you'll find that he didn't have a clause saying he could talk to other clubs, hence why hes now on gardening leave until you guys come up with compensation that is acceptable to us.

So you've seen his contract have you?

No but our CEO said yesterday in an interview that we're still trying to agree compensation and if he had a clause saying he could talk to other clubs, then we wouldnt have been able to refuse him permission to talk to you would we ??

  9. What I like about Lambert is that his sphere of influence will be greater than just coaching the first team.

I'd be surprised if Lambert didn't bring Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa with him, I'm not sure what Karsa's role was at Carrow Rd, but Culverhouse carried out the coaching of the players and during matches if he suggested a susbtitution to Lambert then he'd go with it, he has a big influence. Lambert just gets on with managing!

I am sure there roles were posted by a norwich fan earlier in the thread.

    to Summarise what i remember:

Lambert identifies players, and is the main motivator

Culverhouse handles a lot of the training, and tactics and by some accounts has a lot of say in the team selection.

Karsa is the person who hangs it all together, he is the total opposite of lambert, gets everyone on side, both players and fans and is a really funny guy someone everyone wants to be around.

So they are a team, without one the whole package suffers

I'm sure someone will be along to correct anything that isn't right!

Thats about right, Culverhouse took the training and was responsible for brining 2/3 key players in recently, he was the link between Lambert and the players.

Culverhouse used to play for us and so have links in Norfolk, rumours are that he may be offered the job here so you might have to do without him.

  11. Heard we are not in for Lambert, let me stress this is a rumour.
As is ever the case in these situations there are rumours and counter rumours about everything. I heard we were in for him actually and were talking to Norwich this afternoon but as I say it is all rumour and counter rumour

    Rumours are bastards!!!

Just to add another one to the pot from a Norwich forum:

    http://services.pinkun.com/forums/pinkun/cs/forums/1/2722785/ShowPost.aspx#2722785

I wouldnt take any notice of that poster on the pinkun lol

  12. Norwich are a club that probably only have a £500k to £1 million transfer budget which is why 90% of his transfers have been loans..

Thats rubbish, hes spent over £10m on players since last July

    Howson £2m

    Morison £1.5m

    E Bennett £1.5M

    Ayala 800k

    Ryan Bennett £3m

    Pilkington £2.5m

As for 90% of his transfers being loans we have just 1 Naughton from Spurs.

He's been given the same budget for this summer.

  13. It'd be nice if the message above included "I'll post a link to my preview when it's posted and of course link back to villatalk.com"

I didn't post the link because I know from experience how annoying it is when someone new registers then plasters their website addy in their first post, plus most footy forums ban other footy website links anyway.

Thanks to Chappy for taking the time to reply, once I've finished the preview and its up I will come back with a link so he can read it.

Enjoy the game and safe trip.

    CA

  14. Wondered if two nice kind people would answer the following questions for me, which will form part of a preview that I'm writing for the game.

Have a safe trip to Norwich for those of you who are travelling and enjoy the game. CA

    Questions

    1) Firstly what’s your name, age and how long have you been supporting Villa?

    2) Who do you think will be your most influential player on Sunday and why?

    3) What do you think of what you have seen of Norwich so far this season?

    4) Which of our players do you rate and why?

    5) Where did you honestly think back in August, that Villa and Norwich would finish this season

    6) Will you be travelling to Carrow Road on Saturday, have you been before and what do you think of our stadium.

    7) What’s your prediction for the game?

    8) Do you think Alex McLeish will be sacked after the weekend and who would be in your top 3 to take over?

    Thanks for your help. :)
