  1. I'm merely looking at our current playing staff - they wrongly don't adapt to change and would rather stop trying than giving a new system a go.

Some would undoubtedly fall out with Pearson with his brusque manner.

Maybe a manager falling out with some of the current playing staff will be a good thing. If that means we can get rid of the mentally weak players it could be good for us longer term

  2. Not having a go at anyone here, (and I'm not sure whether Pearson would be right for us) but is there any proof that Pearson causes problems in his own dressing room? I know he is a prick to media, opposition, fans etc but surely he must be ok with his own players as his record seems ok. When he gets a team to win Championship and also avoid relegation when things looking bleak, not many fractured teams could do that....

  3. If we sell Gabby. Who's gonna buy him on his wage?? If a team does decide to take him on, I would assume they will offer a much smaller wage deal and ask us to pay difference which will either cancel out the minimal transfer fee or at least reduce any money we get for him.

  4. He's putting in an effort and playing very well...so far. May it continue. Happy to have him back. I never thought I'd say this, but I think he strengthens our back four. I liked the way he made some good tackles and seemed to make a few good forward runs with the ball.

  5. What do people think of Mile Jedinak? Worth a bid in summer?

He is a solid player. good defensively, great captain. Would make our midfield look much better. Him and Delph would work well with an attacking mid in front.

  6. I was happy to give him every opportunity to make a success of the job originally. After 1st year, I thought we were heading in the right direction. Some of our general play at the end of the year was good to watch and  the players seemed to be improving.

This year I have been extremely dissapointed. Not just with the results but with our general play. Our skill levels do not seem to improve, our tactics are quite honestly  - boring. I can maybe only honestly say i have enjoyed watching us play about 3 games this year. I accept that things have probably not gone the way Lambert envisaged, with injuries to key players, but a good manager also needs to plan for this ie have a plan B and C.

I am not saying Lambert should be sacked now, as I think it would not help our run in, with relegation on the horizon, but regardless of how we fare at the end of the season, I think serious thought needs to be made regarding whether he is the right manager to take us further.

  7. Jury out for me. Need to see him play a few full 90 minutes to gage whether he will be useful for us. So far, he seems to either be trying to hard, or he's just a selfish player. Goes for the 30 yard shot when team mates may be in better position to take pass. I'm hoping it's just a desire to make an impact feeling he has to score a goal to prove himself.

  8. I thought Bacuna had a great game. Looks as though he is quite comfortable playing any role on the right. Long may it continue. Lowton is quite a talent and I hope the two players can push each other. I think Bacuna closed down his opposition well and, in turn, it helped the defenders on the inside of him.

  9. From what I've seen,IMHO, the reason we have lost games at the death this season is because the lads just seem to stop in their tracks and think (defend, defend, defend). They stop playing they were, they stop pushing up in defence and get deeper and deeper and invite the opposition to put as many shot in as they can. More times than not you will let in goals. It is so frustrating. It may not neccessarily be PL's fault, as the players deal with pressure in different ways, but it happens all too often.

  10. I'm surprised no one has commented on Zogbia's performance. I'd be interested to know what everyone else thinks.

It sounded like a lot of the fans were getting on his back and rightly so. I thought he had a shocker. I don't enjoy ripping into players but it looked like he didn't want to be there and was looking for any excuse to be subbed. Every little knock he recieved he seemed to go down and look to the bench...hoping they would sub him. The amount of times he lost posession or made a bad pass made my blood boil. I got so frustrated. These are just my thoughts. I may be wrong.

  11. Villa 5-1 to be relegated before the game, 8-1 afterwards. A good weekend so far but the Chelsea game worries me greatly.

chelseas remaining games are all must wins for them if they want to be guaranteed champions league football next year

Unless they win the champs final, then they don't have to worry.;)

  12. Three games to go, and as I write this, I am struggling to describe what I am feeling. There are so many thoughts and emotions in my head. What are these you may ask? Well, here goes.

    Disillusionment, trepidation, anger, sadness, confusion.

I feel for all the fans, the gamut of emotions ranges from one extreme to the other. I believe (IMO) that we may not know our status until late in the last game. I for one, dread the thought of being relegated. Although we are a big club, I beleive it will not be an easy task to rebound and get promoted immediately. Before that could happen, there would need to be sweeping changes to the management and running of the club. This would involve, player changes, coaching staff changes, high-end management changes.

If we were to stay up, then for us to retain that status and be the successful club we deserve to be, would require the same changes.

I'm all for cultivating our youth system and bringing the young lads through. But they can't do it alone. There will need to be a wise head in charge of recruitment that can assemble a higher quality, motivated, value for money and wage effective team. Have we got someone at the club who can do this now? I'm not so sure.

So regardless of whether we are relegated or not, there is alot of hard work that is going to be needed to get this mighty club back up where we belong. And no doubt, alot of ups and downs for us fans as well. I'm preparing myself for whatever comes my way as my passion for the club will never die.

Best of wishes in the coming weeks to all the fans. Stay strong. UTV

  13. He is young with little Prem experience. He needs time to learn and adapt to the game. It is different to playing in reserves. Unfortunately there are going to be ups and downs when young players are blooded into teams. It is not ideal that we are relying on him at this time of the season, but I for one haved faith that he will turn into a good player for the club (if we remain in the prem league that is...)

  14. I've been nervous ever since about our 6th game. We had a easy start to the season in terms of who we had to play against and we just had not amassed enough points IMO. At the time I thought it would come back to bite us and here we are now looking over our shoulder. A few more upsets by the teams below us and I'll be nervously looking over my shoulder. Alot of people are saying relegation is unlikely to happen, but what is killing me is "likely" = there is still a chance we could go down.

  15. Form not good enough, but so is a lot of our other players. Not suited to formations McLeish plays. He's either alone by himself up front getting no service, or he's shifted out on the left which I hate as I believe he is definitely not a winger. And when he is shifted out on left it is usually when the team is defending....which is alot
