  1. i know for definite that andras is still here, i spoke to him on facebook, hes nursing an injury atm but hoping to push back this year. and they are both still on the os so i imagine they got another year due to the injuries. also how do i get a work permit for the canadian lad in the youths to sign a new contract? ive never got my head round this personally, i mean how did we get lichaj a work permit?

  2. few things that bug me. one is all our youngsters who played in the champ last season are either league 2 or league 1 standard in this game! for instance weimann has gone on loan to bournemouth. also agbonlahor has a year missing out of his history stats. last thing ive noticed so far is that jason lampkin and andras stieber should be in the reserves but they are in the free transfers. Just want to add aswell, is it actually possible to sign Nelson from the u18s on a perm? if so how would i do this?

  3. I understand negotiating but honestly does any not think it would be more beneficial to have the signing on the plane than play hard ball over £1m?

    me.

i would rather we play hardball and save £1,000,000, which could be used on other players.

I'd like to know what sort of player is available at £1 million that could improve even our matchday squad of 18.

Wasn't 1 mill the transfer fee for Shaun Maloney? I know he lasted all of a year, but was a capable player when he got on the pitch, and a player of his ilk would certainly be welcome around Villa Park.

im with this! although he was in the last 6 months of his contract

  4. he said he was injured at the moment and he was looking forward to playing. also spoke of his brothers move up to the bundesliga.... zoltan would be some good back up on the left right now!

  5. "Shearer, 40, was the bookies' 1-8 favourite to take over. But his decision leaves the way open for Hornets chief Mackay to land the job."

Remember, just because the bookies and press say so, doesn't mean it's going to happen. Villa have ONLY released a statement regarding Martinez and McCleish as it became public. No-one knows who else has been interviewed behind closed doors. That's all it is, an interview. This does not guarentee AM the job.

Fingers crossed we have a better candidate lined up but I won't believe it until I see it on the OS.

i really hope this is true :)

i cba with arguing about whats going on anymore

i jus think the club need to realise what image is being portrayed to us fans as we are the laughing stock of the prem atm thanks to the press

Stop picking fights with everyone and acting like a word removed. Grow up FFS.

kid, i got abuse from all angles im jus standing up for what i think is best for my club and if people want to try take the piss out of me il give it back.

im not scared of getting banned on here if jus a couple of people realise that if we had a better chairman invest 200 million then we would be in a much stronger position than we are now..

the truth is we held on by the skin of our teeth last season after spending 200 million and only being forced to sell two important players..

look how many important players tottenham had to sell in the same time yet they got a squad that is vastly superior to ours and with wages a lot less than ours...

  9. whats his record like when hes had a bit of money to spend? not sure how much he spent at other clubs he been at.

Only Chelsea and Man City have had a higher net spend in the previous two years than McLeish at the Blues, so I'd say its pretty dire.

    This!

  12. Chaz, even your username is wrong.

    Villain not Villan!

    Sorry Wiggy but your wrong!!

    Villain = criminal / baddie

Villan = follower of the worlds greatest football team.

My guess is you're under 40 years of age.

thankyou! i will always be a villan.... blues manager or no blues manager...

l jus follow tamworth and burton a bit more next year until the blue nose is sacked.... haha

  13. hahaha

first of all i would like to thank you for putting a smile on my face for the first time today!

    My pleasure.

secondly, prepared and be prepared have a very similar meaning, if i was to say prepared and not prepared were the same i would understand your objection....

The Aston Villa motto "Prepared" is a positive statement of current status and outlook. The motto of the international Boy Scout Movement, "Be Prepared", can be seen as either a statement of aspiration or desired status. They are very different. They're also different on a much more fundamental level. One says "Be Prepared", the other says "Prepared".

as to my point about the board not being prepared.... last year they dicked about for months before making an appointment of a washed up manager with major heart problems that also couldnt start the job until weeks after he was announced as manager...

In fact, it was 30 days after O'Neill resigned that Houllier was appointed. Not even an entire month. Also, during this incredibly long tortuous 4 weeks and 2 days, Houllier underwent medical tests which showed him to be in sufficiently good health to take the job. In fact, I would argue that the process of insisting Houllier had these tests showed a good level of preparedness on the part of AVFC.

they say that they want a manager who shares there ambition yet only days after ged was appointed he referred to us as a 7th to 12th placed team after wed just finished 6th 3 years running. i personally think that these comments along with many others made were fuel for the fire that raged behind the scenes last year

And the way in which this shows a supposed lack of preparedness is?

and now, the manor in which we have held interviews, one at a time, scattered about is just unprofessional.

Holding interviews one at a time is unprofessional? Would you prefer that they gather all prospective candidates in a room together and set them Big Brother style tasks?

the board wasnt prepared for MON taking us to court, they wernt prepared for geds heart problems recurring, they wernt prepared to pay off houlliers remaining 2 and half year contract

I think you're confusing preparedness with an ability to see into the future on this point.

being prepared means being PREPARED for whatever could happen!

**** it, im gonna quote a dictionary for you here as your obviously not the smart arse i once viewed you as....

    pre·pared

    [pri-paird] Show IPA

    –adjective

    1.

properly expectant, organized, or equipped; ready: prepared for a hurricane

It is quite obvious that if the board were prepared they would have a clause in Geds contract saying that if he were to fall ill again his contract could be ended without paying him Millions in compo! Also, giving him a 3 and half years was a bit optimistic to say the least.....
