  1. Sky Sports understands Aston Villa have made a bid for Middlesbrough's Joe Bennett.

The 22-year-old is a graduate of Boro's famed academy and has made over 90 appearances for the club since his debut in 2009.

He has emerged as the club's first choice left back and is part of the England Under-21 set-up.

A number of clubs have been tracking his progress in recent months and now after failing to prise Aaron Cresswell away from Ipswich Town, Villa boss Paul Lambert has turned his attention to Bennett.

Bennett has not played this season due to injury but he is on the brink of returning and was set to be involved again this week.

However, Villa have now made a bid and are hopeful of completing a deal with Boro - who have been using summer signing George Friend at left-back during their opening matches of the season.

  2. The fact that in the past weeks people have turned their nose up on Defoe and now berbatov just shows how much people are naive to the state of our squad.

Lazy or not, Dimitar Berbatov would be the only (potential) world class player we have had since Dwight Yorke. A serious class above to anything we have currently got.

Agreed but I'd say Martin Laursen was a world class player too.

  3. Been told that lambert still has interest in ayala at norwich, but wants to see him come through preseason and the first few games of the season before making a formal bid. The lad had a terrible injury last season

MYSTERYMAN - david murphy at blues?

Anyone for ivan klasnic? would be worth a year deal

The same Ayala that has just gone on loan to Forest?

  4. Daily express (probably on banned list but as we've got twitter comments I hope we'll be fine) claims that we want Bertrand and Scott Sinclair also that we spent £6m on lowton and kea

Looks nailed on for Sinclair. His Wikipedia page currently states the following:

"Looks set to secure a 5 year deal with Aston Villa as they and the player are in talks"

Wittingham must be just about to sign for us really soon now as well, cause his Wikipedia page said something similar a few weeks ago :)

I would bet good money that it's @mini_beest editing these Wiki entries.

    Post of the summer!

  5. ITK legend strikes again:

    Dave Beeston‏@mini_beest

I'm in the understanding Brahimi is wanted by Villa BUT I also know that other clubs are after him too & wants to talk to them...But tbh I'd expect Brahimi to be a Villa player v soon.

That's that then. In the bag :)

The ever reliable mini beest. According to him we were signing David Villa in January! No joke.

Not at all surprised by that. Loves jumping on any rumour going and making himself look like he's in the middle of the story. Priceless at times.

Some of the stuff he comes out with is comical. Definitely one for the NOT ITK list!

  7. We need to scout the continent for players instead of just buying British like we have been doing for the past few years.

It doesn't matter where they come from chap as long as they are good

It does when you're on a limited budget. British players tend to be much more expensive.

Paul Lambert managed to bring in Anthony Pilkington, Elliott Bennett and Kyle Naughton (loan) for next to nothing. They all look good in the premier league.

Also he is a European cup winner with Dortmund where he is still a club legend. More continental experience than the lauded ogs!!

I honestly think he is potentially one of the best managers in England.

If we get him the board deserve a huge amount of credit. They will have pulled off a major coup.

Totally agree. I think he's a top quality manager.

  8. Supposed ITK's have lost the little credibility they had this summer

Not Fourth Official. If there is one Twitter ITK that is genuine, it is them.

Ah the guy that said OGS was our new manager. Done and dusted. Then he deleted the tweet.

How were they supposed to know that OGS would change his mind?

Trust me, Fourth Official is 100% reliable. I've been following them for over a year and they consistently get stuff spot on.
