  1. We didn't bid enough? Well there's a surprise.

    Still "We tried"......

oh dear, i assume you must be a brilliant businessman.

Something I have in common with our owner. Difference is the little money I have I didn't get off daddy.

If you want to keep falling for the spin and PR then go for it. It's quite clear that the club called in their mates in the press to help them out after Saturday. And these 'two quality signings'? A rejected bid for someone in the Belgium league and another player from the lower leagues which would still bring our spending to lower than last season.

You never accept the first bid thats just basic, we would probably have never expected the first bid to be accepted. Stop **** moaning.

    OMG...

we had 6 bids rejected for Nzogbia last summer, we had 3 bids for Bent rejected and lately we had 2 bids for Lowton rejected!!!!

it's what business is all about! have you never gone to a car boot and haggle the price??

  2. Isn't it more clearence - the two f.as confirming he isn't going to be in Greece as a registered player and in the prem - as opposed to actual work permit?

i think it was confirmed that the hold up was because Olympiakos had registered Makoun as a perm player and not on loan deeming his Visa to work for Aston Villa void! because of this we have had to re-apply... I'm sure Mat Kendrick said something along those lines on his chat a few days ago. the hold up is because we are now awaiting for Olypiakos to confirm to work permit department that he was only on loan and not perm! things should all then be sorted!

hope this is the case anyhow

  3. I notice JulieB has made herself scarce too after the Whittingham fiasco

Or perhaps she just got tired of explaining to people who were too thick to understand:

She was relaying information fromas Twitter.

Do you get that, at all? Now maybe?

If you look at previous speculation posts which were deleted she claimed to have spoken to someone close to whittingham saying he had cut his holiday short to sign then as she was gradually found out she changed her sources to people on twitter which just proves she is NITK

I’m sure JulieB knows a lot more than people make out se does! r.e Whitts she even had the photo of her mate with him on his stag night...

I actually find her tweets and posts on VT very good!

It’s the same regards any info people get, some things materialise and something it doesn’t! Same as everyday life..

    Come back Julie..

    :D

  4. I think this page has run its course now!

While it's open there is still going to be Norwich fans on here giving their 2 pence worth and then some irate villa fans having a go back!

It’s over now!!!! We have Lambert, Culverhouse and Karsa and all is good at the Villa!

Lock the page mods...let’s all move on – BRING ON THE NEW SEASON!!

PAUL LAMBERTS CLARET N BLUE ARMY!! UTV

  5. Before you make stupid comments like that Smetrov, the personal reasons before were well publicised. He returned to Cameroon due to his family being involved in a car crash.
So does anyone know what the personal reasons are this time?

could be that the Greek league didn't finish until 1 weeks after our league or 2 weeks if in playoffs?

  6. more backroom staff added...

    Aston Villa FC ‏@AVFCOfficial

Roddy MacDonald has returned to Villa from Celtic, assuming his role as head of sport and exercise medicine with immediate effect. #AVFC

he is a straight replacement for Dr Ian McGuinness

he was also our fitness coach under Martin O'Neil (yes the man who made us fit till 90min when we scored most of our winning goals!

  7. According to Mat Kendrick in today’s mail

The club has said no substance to this Brahimi rumour!!

    added..

    Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick

For all those asking, I'm told there's no truth in rumours that Rennes attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi is joining Villa. #avfc

  8. Well that's proof enough for me!

    HAHA

McNally has just tweeted compensation was agreed with Villa over Cully and Karsa. There smoke some of that.

    david mcnally‏@davidmcnally62

In response to a number of questions from supporters, I can confirm that compensation was agreed between the two clubs for Ian and Gary.

Tim Allman has just asked McNally what position on Lambert was - we'll see what he responds with.

    Tim Allman‏@kentoncanary@davidmcnally62

Please could you clarify the position with regard to compensation for Paul Lambert? Thanks, Tim

    Hey Wiz,

It was confirmed that Lambert was only on 750k per year at Norwich via Mat Kendrick (Birmingham mail press reporter) so if he was on that what would you think Culverhouse and Karsa would be on??

Maybe Culverhouse 300 to 400k per year and karsa 200 to 300k per year??

Then if compensation was agreed it wouldn't be for the full yearly amount...maybe £600k compo maximum would have been agreed! If that...

Then you have just paid up to £500k for Dave Watson

Then Hughton and his back room staff was reported as £2m

So i make that a negative £1.9m and with that you have lost your best manager ever and also his reliable (brains) assistant Culverhouse and then a great player communicator in Karsa

Yes Hughton is a good choice for a manager and I’m sure a lot of Villa fans if being honest would have accepted him at Villa! However you judge the 2 and we've got the best deal overall. In so many more ways...

I hope Norwich do have a good season though even though i have £20.00 at 6/4 odds on that Norwich will get relegated this year!

    But seriously good luck!

  9. I doubt he'll do anything with his chance.

He couldn't perform last Pre season and was given a chance against a lower league team and was awful.

I think the young kids will show lambert more and will keep makoun on the bench, then fans on here can blame every defeat on this.

some players suit different managers tactics, Nzog is anothe rone...maybe the passing style Lambert likes to play will suit his game a lot more and Makoun could be a great player at villa...but who knows?

    fingers crossed for him though!

  10. some info...

i've been asking loads of questions on twitter regards Makoun over and over and finaly had a response back from James Nursey...

"i am still in the same job but been busy with Golf, Cricket and then Wimbledon this week, last i heard Makoun WILL be given a chance by PL"

    then next one...

"in fact it was PF who told me that Makoun has extended leave due to personal reasons but is due back a week later poss Thursday

hope this helps guys....Also Mat Kendrick has said he thinks he is due back this week

  11. from matkendrick regards to Makoun..

    Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick

@Sriv_22 Try to find out more next week, don't think he's back at training yet

hopr this is the case and he's back next week

  12. From the Official Club Site

Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa have joined Paul Lambert at Bodymoor Heath in their respective roles as assistant manager and head of football operations as the Villa first team players report back for pre-season training.

Culverhouse and Karsa have worked with Lambert for the past six years in spells at Wycombe, Colchester and Norwich and officially take up their roles in the new Villa manager's backroom team as of today.

"It's great for them to be here at the club and I'm delighted they have joined me," Lambert said.

"They have been with me for the past six years which is a long time and we've built up an understanding and a trust. I trust them and they have been great for me.

"We have always bounced well off each other and we're all looking forward to the job at hand here at Villa."

Culverhouse played at right back for Tottenham, Norwich, Swindon, Kingstonian and Brighton, spending 10 years at Carrow Road and playing 369 games for the Canaries.

He began his coaching career with Brighton in early 2000, serving first as reserve team manager before moving to Barnet where he first worked alongside Karsa as youth team manager in the summer of 2000.

Following Barnet's relegation he joined Leyton Orient as a youth coach and was promoted to assistant manager.

He then moved to Wycombe Wanderers as youth team coach in 2005.

He began working with Lambert at Wycombe in 2006, becoming assistant manager at Adams Park in 2007 and retaining that role under Lambert's management of Colchester and Norwich.

Karsa took up his first coaching job at Enfield in 1998 where he was appointed football and community officer.

He moved to a similar role with Barnet where he worked with Culverhouse before joining Charlton Athletic as head of academy recruitment.

He was reunited with Culverhouse at Leyton Orient before he joined Wycombe Wanderers in 2006 in a youth role.

He has continued to work with Lambert and Culverhouse as football operations manager at Colchester and Norwich.

  13. the press talking about Makoun leaving are just presuming due to the arrival of El Ahmadi....James Nursey said after he spoke to lambert that he is very much in his thoughts and wants to give him a chance this season!

  14. And he's the penalty save king!

in my eyes Lambert will say have a go if your good your No.1 not your back-up to Given!

we should of bought a back up for Guzan last summer not a new no.1, not saying i dislike Shay as he was one of the main reasons why we stayed in the premiership last year but who's to say Guzan wouldn't of either if given the chance?

  15. I swear INCOGNITO is actually Paul Faulkner. Just giving out little snippets of info early to keep everyone excited.

I was thinking either Faulkner or someone in his office.

His choice of words as well are more sophisticated than the other so called ITKs, who have terrible grammar and spelling.

I honestly think it is Faulkner however i was told same info as Julie B that it is one of Faulkner’s understudies!

may be bullshite but makes a lot of sense due to the knowledge he has!

  16. i sent an email to them asking why and had this response...
