  1. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/07062012/63/lambert-thinking-holt-bid.html

New Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has already identified several new faces he would like to bring to Villa Park, but is adamant that Norwich striker Grant Holt is not one of them.

Striker Holt was an integral part of Lambert's hugely successful three-year spell at Carrow Road, but the 31-year-old has been left disappointed by the club's refusal to offer him a new three-year contract and had a transfer request turned down last month.

But, while Lambert was fulsome in his praise for the centre-forward, he insisted he has not thought about signing Holt, and said: "I haven't even thought about that at all. Grant Holt was brilliant for me. In the three years I was there (at Norwich) he was a huge part of what happened at the club. He is a terrific guy and I have a lot of time for him."

He went on: "He was brilliant for me as a footballer and a captain but things move on and I need to know about Aston Villa Football Club before I do anything else.

"I will look at things here first and foremost. We will try to bring some guys in but I swear to God I haven't thought about that.

"I am really excited to be here but I haven't thought about anything like that.

Doesn't totally rule out a bid for Holt, but from what he says here it seems unlikely

  2. He's been tweeting ......... and I've been corrected he did fall out with Lambert so unlikely to be coming to join him at VP.

    grant holt ‏@holty30

I have loved my 3 years at the club and it sadness me to right this but want use to here it from me first. #lovedmytime

    grant holt ‏@holty30

Just to stop the rumour mill again. I have expressed to the board and the CEO that I want to leave the football club. Due to disagreements

So where does it specifically say he's fallen out with PL???

And can I add he tweeted yesterday that he hadn't fallen out with the gaffer

  4. He won't be coaching the strikers that's for certain.

Might do well playing prop forward or Rugby League.

Oh! I forgot! He was playing that at Villa Park!

    :lol::lol::lol:

I hear Blackpool may make an offer soon? No! Not Ian Holloway, but the bloke running the Donkeys along the Golden Mile!!:lol::lol:

I heard Mark Delaney was offering to run him in the half mile?

Yeh! It was the day Delaney's Donkey run the half mile race!:lol:

Good Bye Emile, unlike your misses I certainly won't be missing you like e(mile!!):lol::lol:

Apart from that, Good Luck, lot's of hard feelings, unless ofcourse you happen to end up back at sha. (Fingers (Hooves) crossed  )

Oh & finally, farmer Giles says he's absolutely devestated as he will no longer be supplying you £60 grand's bale of hay per week anymore! :lol:

pps - Armstrong, the first man on the moon kindly asks if you would sign the ball he found inside a crater during the lunar landing. He claims it's definitely one of yours as it's original flight path has been tracked back to your right hoof!!:lol:

    "Heskey's gone m'lud, Heskey's gone! Oh lord Heskey's gone!" :):)

Would it be wrong of me to give the opinion that for this post alone, posting privileges should be removed.

  5. If we're gonna vote on team selections, then wouldn't we have to take a vote on transfers. Who we sell and who we buy, and what backroom staff to bring in, and would we take a vote on whether to appeal red cards.

  6. It feels like Villa are like a 50 year old balding fat ugly git who has no luck with the ladies.

All of a sudden some young attractive foreign bird is making eyes at him and all the single (and not so single) ladies are starting to sit up and take notice - maybe that fat, ugly bastard has

something going for him after all...

    what an excellent analogy

  7. Sure i heard we were in for that Commoli fella that left Liverpool not sure if the rumours are true , but the word was Commoli was coming in along with AVB , think it was reports in Portugal or something like that . Anyone else heard anything about this ?

I'm pretty sure Comolli was seen at the Spurs game. And that fuelled a bit of speculation.

  8. Wigan had a better squad than us and only just escaped relegation because Martinez gambled the house on 3-4-3 and it paid off.

Why he is such an attractive prospect for many is just plain wierd.

I have to completely disagree with this. There are 2 maybe 3 Wigan players that would make it into our first choice XI. And in all likeliness will finish above us this season.

  9. Has a good work ethic and always gave 100%. Everything else about his game was shit though. shall not be too sad to see him go, but what worries me is who McLeish will bring in as a replacement
