  1. I don't really care who is manager as long as there known for playing attractive football and can get the best out of the players. I don't think you can deny Martinez fits that bill, what he has done with wigan the last three seasons if nothing short of brilliant, arguably the worst squad in the prem and to keep them up,

I just want to go to villa park and fell we played well and kept me on edge of me seat, I don't mind a loss as long as I fell we worked hard and had a go, I NEVER want to see us go to a team and try shut up shop defend for 90 minutes, if we lose but put up a fight I'm happy,

  2. I don't really get the point of that comment though. It's a thread about McLeish, good or bad. If you don't want to read it then don't read it.

Personally I find this thread quite therapuetic at the weekends as it allows me to vent my frustration in a controlled and dignified fashion. Without this thread there would be nowhere for me to unleash...apart from "specialist" websites that the wife would not approve of.

Haha I posted similar this a few months back, but I said the misses is sick and tired of get bet up every Saturday evening,

  4. All these that are against protesting need to step back and think for a minute, if at you're work the bosses decided to give you pay cut, do you sit back and do nothing, no you strike, I pay £40 a week to go watch the villa, I do dnt go to watch unattractive, defensive, crap football, being managed by a championship quality manager, I want to be entertained, on the edge of me seat, not going to villa park thinking the worst, then coming out even more pissed off than I went in, why the hell should I not show my anger at this situation, being robbed every Saturday, its not the money its seiing the club I love going down the pan,

And as for getting behind ur team these are professional footballers, this all wanted to do with me life was play football, putting that shirt on and running on that pitch should be enough and if that doesn't do it the 30 grand a week there on should.

Me self I don't protest or lay banners, but the lads who do do what you see nessercery,

Cost I don't have the willpower, I'm defeated lol

  5. An interview the weekend Eck said there's only a hand full of managers around that could have dne a better job than he has at Villa wot planet does this Prat live on, we lost Ashley young and downing and gained zog and ste Ireland, who is arguably better than downing, I'm tell in u know that Martinez could have dne a better job than him, he's had the worst squad in Prem for last couple of years and kept them up, losing zog was a big blow for them this season, god I think Mick mcarthy would have dne better.

All reports of heated exchange during half time just goes to show ecks running out of ideas, letting them get wounded up with each other, he hasn't got a clue, the can't motavate them so trying to let them manage themselves,

He has got to go!!!!! If we lose or draw to fulham Randy's got no choice but to get rid, if he does will tho it will buy eck another couple of games'

  6. I haven't felt this Down in the dumps on a Sunday morning for a long while, and it probebly wasn't for a footballing reason, I really am in fear of our premier league status, the ginger rocket polisher was forced into play the sort of team we want playing, and first half we played really quite well, but once again we sit back and invite them to attack us. The radio was saying a manger can only 20% of the work then the other 80% down to the players on the pitch, but that bullshit, as a manger if you see you're team sitting back and haven't requested them to you tell the center half's to step up quicker and not sit back, defend from the front chase down, he seems to think u can sit back for 45 mins and not conced. Player fitness, Ireland n zogif u ent playing games you ent match fit, keeps blaming tiredness, game time =fitness then play ur best team and stick with it, I can't say anymore I'm winding me self up

  7. I just watched the after match interview and it was disturbing stuff...

What I also dont understand is how he keeps blaming individual mistakes?! Surely if we defend all game and are under constant pressure the likelyhood is that mistakes will be made during that length of time... It really beggars belief If im being honest.

best form of defense is attack! that dosnt mean throw eveyone forward, controlled atacking, not leaving urself short at the back player drop back covering players going forward, ECK idea of a good at attack is getting ur center halfs and keeper to time wast in the first half, JOKE

  8. Do you think Eck would survive if we lose our next two games?? I can imagine a pretty hostile atmosphere for the Fulham game if we dont get at least 3 points in one of them...

Probably, cos' Lerner is as deluded as Mcleish.

I seriously believe we could lose 12-0 and Mcleish would still be here.

What needs to happen is at the next home game, no-one go - and I mean NO-ONE. See what Lerner thinks of that.

i would have though the drop in our averge ttendance would have done that, but it hasnt, average this season i think is 34000ish compared to last season 37500ish, as far as i can remember there hasnt been a sell out this sason

  9. On the Des Kelly thing, I saw that.

How about getting a fan from every other Premiership club and make them sit and watch-back the game today.

Then, at the end, ask how many would like to have Mcleish at their club. I would bet my balls that no-one would want him. 110% guaranteed.

lmao well done my friend, on the other had lets get a fan from every champioship side and see what they have to say, bet the majority will say we ent that desperate, lol

  10. Just went on YouTube while I was having a bath and watched the 1992/1993 season review.

For 15 minutes watching that, it reminded me why I am a Villa fan. Big Ron, Dalian & Deano, Yorkie etc... yeah, they bottled the League that year but in every game they had a go.

Then I dug out the 95/96 review when badger Little was here. Again, bottled a couple of big games - mainly vs Liverpool - but had a good go.

Then I watched the Villa 3-2 Leeds Utd FA Cup game from '99 and Villa 5-1 Birmingham from the O'Neill reign.

My conclusions - Villa are, through the years, an exciting side that will have a go. Attacking players were the life & soul of this club - Saunders, Yorke, Dublin, Merson, Houghton, Carbone, Daley, Young, Angel etc...

Then I thought about this season. What game have I enjoyed? I am struggling to think of any. Like another poster said, since then I have been bored of it. Even beating Chelsea held not as much joy as it should, as I viewed it as 'luck' and Chelsea being woeful.

While I appreciate the game has moved on and their is a larger divide in the League these days - due to money - it sickens me to think of what Mcleish has said after that today and the implications. We won't see the likes of a Carbone or a Merson again. Instead, we will have to endure turgid players, who want to 'battle' and whose main aim is to stop the other team playing. I can see him trying to sign Barry Ferguson this summer and let's be honest, while he's here, that's about the caliber of player we'll see.

I said it before, I will say it again. Get in Alan Curbishley. He won't cost anything, he'd probably take a deal till' the summer, he knows this club and he will at least set up this Villa side to have a go.

    well said!!!

  11. Its so sad to see how many steps back we have taken again this season.

For the first time in a long time (since dol) i really worry about where villas next win will come from.

AM is watching a different game to everyone else and cant see how bad we really are.

hes only got defensive eyes, if he dosnt see a player back defending hes having a bad game, ECKs next signing an atacking defensive midfilder
  12. Oh Alex why couldn't you have proven us all wrong?

he hasnt got the minerals lol

The strangest thing is for probably the first time ever about 99% of Villa fans are all saying 'we told you so'!

I don't think ever in my history of following football have I seen so many fans against an appointment of a manager to then be proven correct in thier objections.

Please correct me if I'm wrong?

It's an embarrassment. I hand on heart didn't even feel this disillusioned as a fan under deadly Doug.

this is correct, as i have always saaid the fans know what is good for the club, in our case, yea he did come from the shity but that ent the reason why 99% of fans were aganst, ive got friends who are shity fans, work mates, and i had to listen to them every monday morning at work or in the pub on a fryday night. and they all said the same thing, boaring defensive football, trying to feed of scraps. and when i watched them play i seen what they were saying. he hasnt got a clue tactialy

doug know football inside out, he loves aston villa football club, he mite not have give the money out as much as we would have likedb but made fair decisions when appointing managers, he loved the club that much he wouldnt sell to carson young before he brought the blues, he know it was the wrong decision for the club.

  13. Noticed the amount of time that we were trying to waste over goal kicks and throw ins in the first half today. Awful at home whoever we were playing. McLeish 'I'm not a negative manager'. Pull the other one.

i noticed duney kicked the ball away from given when it was our goal kick, i couldnt believe what i was seing, half hour gone in the first half and were time wasting, was this an order from mcliesh? if i was manger and seen tis i would be furious

i didnt see todays game but based on the piss poor excuses this ginger idiot manager we are lumbered with comes up with, he will no doubt say he was trying to get the players playing attacking football

i think it was summed up in his speech about the possible protests saying about the silent majority supporting him ( bullshit) but i will try and find the quote, he said something like

its my team i make it happen , or something like that. it was something which i was going to post previously, so there can be no illusions as to who sets up the team and gets them to play, he admitted it was him and him alone.

im going to find the quote, it was only the other day

    here we go

'It's a minority and something out of my control. But the one thing I can control is the team and what effort they put in to get the best out of them because I am pretty good at that.'

he lives in an absolute dream world

  14. Taken from a post on Sky Sports web site regarding the Villa v Man City game.

What game was he watching? If city had had any luck in the first half they would have been home and dry by then. I am glad I am not a Villa fan because if I was asked to watch that every week I would cry. They only woke up when they went behind

This poor bastard had to watch it in High Definition on TV!!

ECKin hell they mite be mancs, but this one ent stupid, lol hit the nail on the head
