His record isn't all that great so far!

A better player than Vlasic would be Hakim Ziyech! Who for attacking midfielder scores goals for fun and creates for fun in Holland and has been doing it for last 2 seasons for Twente and before that Heerenveen! 39 goals and 36 assists in 102 career games,

Has 15mil euro buy out as well!!

Agree entirely 4life but, I can't see Ziyech coming to the championship can you?

Vlasic is one I can see us getting and he'll only improve with experience.

He actually assists quite a few goals he doesn't get credit for because his pass is passed on, if that makes sense to you.

He's scored 4 goals in 54 games. He isn't worth anywhere near the money you've said. In future I'll google any random names you come up with. How did he do on FM any good?

His productivity is to do with the number of chances he helps create, not in his own personal tally. I thought you would have realised that, given the position he plays.

The name wasn't random, I've actually watched him play a few times.

As for the FM comment, I'm afraid you'll have to ask one of the people who play the game, as I never have played any of those computer games

Who as in age, nationality etc No chance we'd spend that much on an 18yo who all our creative options would rely on. I'll google him now and if his YouTube vids are any good I'll change my mind.

While you are at it, check out Nemanja Mihajlovic, a winger from Partizan, Marko Rog, a midfielder from Dynamo Zagreb and his team-mate Petar Stojanovic, a right-back, as well.

The who and the team name were mentioned in the thread that made you ask.

There is no who in age.

All of our creative options wouldn't lie with him, McCormack makes a fair few chances,  for one.

    Who and Why?

The who is pretty well self-explanatory.

The why is because he is a pretty productive player, who at 18, is mature enough to be made team captain. Right now we'd get him for 10-12 million euros, next year he'll cost 30 million.

On the AM I don't think we've had a single name (other than Ravel Morrison which has been debunked) linked or connected to us via the rumour mill.

Can someone make one up so we have something to talk about?

Nikola Vlasic of Hadjuk Split has to be that AM we're after.

  7. Kodjia is playing right wing for Bristol City this season.

Mattheui Dossevi of Standard Liege plays predominately as a right winger but, drops into right, left or, attacking midfield if needed. He scores a few, 5 or 6 a season from the wing but, creates twice as many.

Amavi is a much better defender than you give him credit for. His record in France is testament to this.

His defending will be all the better for having 2 solid central defenders alongside him.

I didn't see his defending ability in France, so excuse me if I only judge on the relatively little I've seen of him in England.

I wouldn't be putting too much reliance on records from France if I were you, not after last season's showing by our imports.

i never said that. but what you did say is why put amavi as a starting left back? cos he has limitations in defending. cissokho certainly isnt much better as he has as many mistakes as him.

so we play with no left back??

Cissokho does have an error in him, as does every player but, he does at least know what a left back's primary job is, while Amavi on the other hand, seems to believe that his primary job is to attack. That and that alone makes Amavi a non-starter for me. Late on in a game we were chasing, I'd use him as a sub.

With two wing-backs bombing on upfield, we'd need to play two DM's to cover their absence or, a three-man back line with a DM.

Not sure i agree with this, before his injury last year Amavi was arguably our best player (yes i know, not much competition from last years squad) however he looked very promising. Although Cissokho will be very decent in the championship, i'd like to see a lot more of what Amavi has to offer. I'll leave a video in the Amavi thread for you to take a look at ;)

I agree with you Flynnchin84, Amavi was our best, attacking, option until he got injured. The confusion comes about, I think, simply because I think a player listed as being a defensive player should have, at least some rudimentary defensive skills. Amavi's initial mindset seems to be in attack mode when it should be in defence mode. As I said, he can learn basic defending, if he wants to stay a left back or, he could move to a spot that his natural playing style is better suited to.

This some sort of sick joke?

You would rather play Cissokho at LB for the rest of the season? Or maybe we should re-sign Richardson...

Now just where did I say or, give the impression that I'd resign Richardson or, for that matter that I would be happy with Cissokho as the number one choice as left-back.

What I said is, that as a left-back, Amavi is very lacking in the defensive aspects of the job. As a young man, he probably has time to learn the defensive arts, although I'd prefer he didn't do it playing in our first team week after week.

Judging by Ayew's body language the first few games he doesn't look interested. Hopefully he sticks around but I wouldn't lose sleep if he wanted to go. Get a natural right winger out there who wants to play for us.

I agree with your assessment Warnock.

The disinterest has probably come about because he's been asked to do a job for the team and, up until now, I've seen nothing in his play, or demeanour, to suggest that he's a team player.

Bunn, Baker, Cissokho, Bacuna, Westwood, Green, Gestede

If you'd have told me that could possibly be the team the end of last season I'd have called you crazy.

Why on earth would you make Amavi your first choice left back?

I'll admit the kid looks decent going forward but, he has as much idea about defending, as I do about quantum physics.

  14. If we were really interested in Abel Hernandez, I think a deal would have been done by now.

Hull apparently have an interest in Richards, so surely if we had of made a bid of the reported £10m, they would have asked us to throw him in as a make-weight.

  15. £9 million forward isn't going to be world-class, is he?

Funnily enough, didn't Middlesboro pay that amount for Rhodes?

Mind you, I wouldn't mind us getting Rhodes. Apart from scoring a hatful of goals for Blackburn, he made most of Gestede's goals. He is quite a strong, pacy guy too, as most of his goals came from breakaways as Blackburn didn't have any effective creative midfielders at that time.

  16. Football players I have seen who I would rate as World Class.

Lev Yashin. Bobby Moore. Gordon Banks. Peter Schmeichel. Garrincha. Paulo Maldini. Billy Wright. John Charles. Danny Blanchflower. Dave Mackay. Jim Baxter. Davie Cooper. Franz Beckenbauer. George Best. Stanley Matthews. Eusebio. Pele. Tostao. C.Ronaldo. L.Messi. Zlaten Ibrahimovic Peter Swann. Claude Makelele.
