  1. Unbelievable. 221 minutes played and we already want him gone. Angel was much worse than him when he first joined and he ended up scoring 23 goals in one season. Ayew is 23, playing in a side that hasn't created many chances this season and he's also came from a League that's a lot slower than the PL. I'll judge him when he's got 25 games under his belt and even that and even that's probably too soon.

  2. Apparently Liverpool comin back in for him after we tried to sort it quickly. Being used a bit?

Only place I've seen this mentioned was in The Telegraph rumours page yesterday. The Liverpool Echo confirmed that Liverpool aren't interested in him.

  3. No group has been granted exclusivity. Two group's have put bid's in, American one being the front-runner but neither have been granted exclusivity and both have done preliminary due diligence. Can't see the takeover being completed before the end of the month at the very least.

  4. Hi General,

I know that you, Randy and Paul Faulkner all have the best interests of the club at heart. Randy has spent huge amounts of money on the club since he joined and his commitment cannot be doubted. My worry is, with the amount of money he has spent we seem to have gone nowhere and are back to square one again. If any other club had spent as much money as he had i believe they would be challenging for the Champions League. My point being, do you think that it would be of benefit to the club to appoint somebody with a bit more experience in handling situations like the current one we find ourselves in? Personally if we are in for the likes of Alex Mcleish then somebody at Villa isnt doing their job properly and all the money that Randy has spent is going to go down the drain because we are either going to stand still or go backwards with somebody like Mcleish in charge. I cling onto the hope that the club is working on somebody considerably better than Mcleish but at the moment it really doesnt look like it.

  5. No mate. I actually think hes a decent manager. Not saying that he would be my first choice, of course not. But he IS a good manager. Ask anybody within the game and they will all tell you the same thing.

The uproar is from people who cant see past the fact he was Blues manager. I can see why they might be unhappy but its childish to be honest.

IF (and thats a big if) McLeish is appointed he will get my full support.

I agree with all of this. Blues are woeful and any manager would have struggled to keep them up. He, like most managers made a few mistakes when he was at Blues but i dont think he would do a bad job at Villa. We could get a lot better and it is dissapointing but the board just dont seem to share the same ambition as the fans do.

  6. phil. is your surname Thompson?

Benitez has the most punchable face in world football and he is a scouse lover. Apart from Trevor Francis I can't think of a worse appointment. This is Aston Villa not Villapool! Will you be singing "You'll never walk alone" when he takes us up to Anfield and unveiling sentimental banners? As for MON, I'd take him back like a shot. Was gutted when he left.

Haha that did make me laugh to be fair! I'm not saying Oneill wasnt a good manager because obviously he was but he wasnt a legend. He didnt win us anything and he didnt get us in the CL. Plus the way he left us was unforgiveable and just shows how selfish he was to leave us in the shit all because he was told we had to cut the wage bill after Randy had given him big money through his reign as manager

  7. As much as i dont like the idea of Benitez being our manager i dont think it would be the end of the world. He's won trophies everywhere he's gone, even Inter. He won the Champions League with Liverpool when they were nowhere near the best team in Europe. The only worry i have is that in the past two years he seems to have lost the plot a little bit but he's only 51 and has plenty of time left to improve.

  8. As for the poster slagging off MON, what exactly do you want? Three top 6 finishes, 2 Wembley appearances, Carew, Milner, Young, the emergence of Gabby. MON was a Villa legend, on a par with GT, in that bracket of managers behind Saunders. He deserves respect

Anybody who done what O'neill done to us is not a Villa legend in any sense of the word whatsoever, ridiculous thing to say

  9. Mate, if you followed my posts at all (which to be fair you would have no need to do!) im normally one of the more upbeat posters. When people were calling for Houlliers head last season i was one of the few who wanted him to carry on and give him time.

But this managerial thing is a whole different thing altogether. This coming season is one of the biggest in many a year, what with our best players making noises about wanting out. We need good preparation for this season and the fact that nothing ever seems to happen very quickly is starting to grate on me.

You can bet your top dollar this would NEVER happen at any other so called big clubs. We ARE a big club btw.

I agree with everything you said but i genuinly believe that Randy & Co thought that there was a good chance that Houllier was going to return and therefore didnt pursue other manager's because they didnt want to undermine Houllier. Of course we all want a new manager in asap but i dont think we can start getting on the boards back for not appoiting anyone just 6 days after the former manager left.

  10. Oh Jebus Christ...

ITS THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE DECISION IS TAKING THAT MAKES IT INCOMPETENT!!!!!!!!

Its been 6 days FFS! You can say the board knew well before then that he was going when in reality they didnt because they were awaiting further medical tests. We havent got a game until mid August, We dont report back to pre-season training until 4th July and officially the transfer window doesnt open until 1st July.
