mikeyp102 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 It's a surprise there wasn't already a thread on this... Anyone just seen Christine OHURUOGU? Wow what a run, never die attitude!
ArteSuave Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 We don't really have a word for that kind of big stage performer, I think the 'Murcians call them clutch performers. She's a (female equivalent of a) stud.
markavfc40 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Remarkable how she is able to time her runs to perfection. Is more often than not a good way behind coming off the last bend and then storms through. Building a cracking collection of medals now.
hogso Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Really glad I caught the 400m final earlier, brilliant watch
tonyh29 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I suspect there will always be an element of doubt about her won't there ?
peterms Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 I suspect there will always be an element of doubt about her won't there ? Lost me there, Tony.

RunRickyRun Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 She missed 3 drug tests in a row and got banned didn't she Not in a row but 3 tests over a period of time in out of competition testing. Basically she was double booked for a session and had to change venues at the last minute. She did pass tests a few days before and a few days after.
Stevo985 Posted August 13, 2013 VT Supporter Posted August 13, 2013 Gutted I missed that. I like Christine, great runner. Haven't seen nearly enough of these championships for my liking.
Jon Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I suspect there will always be an element of doubt about her won't there ? Yes, I think so. I would say however, that there's an element of doubt about pretty much every athlete that does well.

I would say however, that there's an element of doubt about pretty much every athlete that does well. that's true sadly I just hope they never find Michael Johnson to be "dirty" as that would be the final nail for me .. I mean some of them it was always obvious and the rumours were always there even if there weren't ever caught ( won't go into names just in case ) , but he was always regarded as Mr Clean and was the greatest runner of all time imo ... though a certain Mr Bolt may have now taken that title to be fair Edited August 13, 2013 by tonyh29
ArteSuave Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I would be absolutely amazed if Johnson was 100% clean. It is in the interests of the sport that the poster boy never gets rumbled.
mikeyp102 Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Isinbayava (spg) wins again, incredible athlete (and wouldn't say no
Tegis Posted August 13, 2013 VT Supporter Posted August 13, 2013 Merritt just blew James away. Amazing run form the penis-enhancer. 5th fastest all time
packoman Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 It might be an odd event but well done Rob Heffernan for winning gold in the 50km Race Walk. 1
AVFC_Hitz Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 BBC World Athletics 2013: Isinbayeva speaks out against homosexuality World pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva has spoken out against homosexuality amid protests over new laws in her native Russia. It is now illegal to give under-18s information about homosexuality in Russia - leading to calls for a boycott of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. She criticised athletes who painted nails in support of gays and lesbians. "We are very afraid about our nation because we consider ourselves normal, standard people," said Isinbayeva.
