It's certainly well produced, but the problem I have with it is that it takes itself far too seriously. It's not fun. It should be fun. Sounds like some sort of drab church hymn. Football is fun. It's about suspending your usual rationality and placing illiterate men on a super human, godlike status because they can kick a ball around. If you start to take it seriously and put in a voice like that who sounds like he's singing about the French Revolution, it's just bringing you down to earth with a bang and makes you wonder what it's all about. It's not on the correct plain of consciousness for a football song. Glenn Hoddle is having a goal and John Carew is bigger than me and you. They're football songs. This is just very dour and inappropriate. Aside from the end.
