Just read that Jesse Lingard has failed to score a goal OR get an assist in the premier league in 11 of the past 12 months.

How much are they paying him again?

Back in the day United would bring the likes of Lingard and Rashford through to the first team then sell them to a mid-table premier league side before they'd slide down the divisions. Now they give them mega wages and make them senior members of the squad.

They look poor in midfield and up front and they have no subs bench whatsoever. Also they have a spineless mascot for a manager. I approve of their current situation.

Pogba penalty away from 6 points in the opening games. Probably had the toughest opening games on paper except maybe Spurs 😉

They had 2 shots on goal with 72 % possession.

Tells it all what type of team they are. If they are not allowed to counter attack they are clueless.

Park the bus against them and you have a decent chance nicking a result.

You could say that about 80 percent of top flight teams

Not really.

Sure most top teams are very good at counter attacking, but most top clubs have a playing style that involves breaking organized teams down.

They don't solely rely on only counter attacking in order to score goals and win games. Manchester United on the other hand based on yesterday's game doesn't have an answer to an organized side.

Wolves have problems doing the same as Chelsea, Palace too. We did on saturday. Newcastle certainly wouldnt be able to either so thats 5 without even thinking

This might be something that's lost in translation for me, but what do you mean?

He's a 'pat everyone on the back' type of manager. He's not going to make tough decisions, demand signings or go hard on his players. Good managers make an example out of troublemakers and command respect from their players. Olè isnt going to cut it.

Dropped Lukaku for Rashford and binned him off to Inter. Sanchez leaving this week as well

I think you are fooled by his physical looks and demeanour.  Every single player I've read interviews with who's had him as a coach says he is borderline apeshit when stuff goes wrong and very much a man who hates losing. Simply cause he doesn't look like old whisky nose on the side lines isn't something to judge him by. He's deceptive in more than one sense. I think he is quite ruthless to be fair, but he is very modern in his approach. I know he's done a lot of leadership speaking here in Oslo and there's a lot more to him than the impression you might have.

Not saying he'll be a great success, but I wouldn't judge a dog by it's looks (if that expression works in English 😂

The state of that squad.

Lingard, Rashford, both two decent players that are hugely overpaid and have no place as first team players in a top 4 side. Young, Phil Jones, Smalling, Martial  and Shaw somehow still there. **** hell. I'd be gutted with some of those being in our squad. They're a very very long way from competing with Man City. Imagine saying that ten years ago.

He failed at Cardiff though Kenji.

And fair enough they might have been relegated regardless of the coach but OGS got another shot with Cardiff in the Championship and he failed hard there as well.

Cardiff were already going down when he took over and he only got 7 games the following season

To be fair I think back in the day Fergie would have brought these through and made them look 10 times better than they were, use them to good effect and THEN sell them to a midtable side where they'd end up looking average.

He had a great knack of getting the most out of players. Players like John O'Shea and Wes Brown looked great, or did very well, in Man Utd teams even though they weren't great players.

Gary Neville said the same thing last week. Said there were players like himself, Wes, Nicky Butt, his brother, Darren Fletcher etc who weren't THAT good but the team needed players like that and SAF somehow got them to play at that level anyway.

He really is looking so much more remarkable now with the benefit of hindsight. One thing that sticks out now is the lineup he played away to Wolfsburg in the CL and won 3-1. Wolfsburg were probably the best team in Germany that year too. Any other manager and that team would have done well to stay up.

That team has Scholes in it. That by itself automatically makes it good.
