What do people think of this news that they'll be playing a season away from WHL while it gets rebuilt. Talk of them alternating between Wembley, MK and Brighton depending on opposition.

I really can't see them challenging the top 4 that season with 38 away games, might even be bottom half. What do Spurs fans think to this?

Unfortunate for them but I thought Premier League rules stated that they must stay in only one home stadium during the league?  They're never going to be able to share with Arsenal and Wembley is too big for them.  This is going to be epic.

I'm sure a few will be along to tell us it's all part of some master plan and a step towards their global supremacy. :)

Joking aside, it's unfortunate for them and it won't help them but in the grand scheme of things their club is still moving forward and one seasons pain for the increased revenue the new ground will give them is probably a decent trade off even if not ideal.

Sounds like 1 local business is responsible for the delay, bet they are going to be popular.

yeah they are recieving threatening calls and hate mail.

That isn't the same as saying it's not for sale.

seems you're right. Cain Hoy have shown and confirmed their interest.

Cain Hoy have confirmed their interest in buying Tottenham Hotspur and now have until October 10 to make a firm offer or pull out.

As exclusively revealed by Telegraph Sport on Thursday evening, Cain Hoy, a private investment company, have made a preliminary approach regarding a Tottenham takeover on behalf of a group of United States businessmen.

Cain Hoy have now released a statement confirming their interest and the timeframe in which they must make a firm bid.

Tottenham owner Joe Lewis is believed to value the club at just under £1billion and it remains to be seen whether Cain Hoy can negotiate a price with chairman Daniel Levy.

A Cain Hoy statement said: “Cain Hoy Enterprises, LLC ("Cain Hoy") notes the recent speculation in relation to a potential approach to Tottenham Hotspur Limited ("Tottenham Hotspur").

“Cain Hoy confirms that it is at the preliminary stages of assessing a cash offer for Tottenham Hotspur. Cain Hoy's considerations are at an early stage, and there can be no certainty that any offer will ultimately be made or at what price any offer might be made.

“In accordance with Rule 2.6(a) of the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers (the "Code"), Cain Hoy must, by not later than 5.00 p.m. on 10 October 2014, either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Tottenham Hotspur in accordance with Rule 2.7 of the Code or announce that it does not intend to make an offer, in which case the announcement will be treated as a statement to which Rule 2.8 of the Code applies. This deadline will only be extended with the consent of the Takeover Panel (the "Panel") in accordance with Rule 2.6© of the Code.

“This announcement has been made without the consent of Tottenham Hotspur. A further announcement will be made in due course.”

Cain Hoy’s interest is being led by its London-born and based head of European investment, Jonathan Goldstein, and American entrepreneur and private equity investor Henry Silverman.

Both 48-year-old Goldstein and 74-year-old Silverman are ex-employees of Guggenheim Partners. In his former role as vice chairman of asset management at Guggenheim, Silverman helped to appoint Goldstein as head of real estate and direct investment in Europe in January.

Cain Hoy Enterprises was formed with the support of – and a minority, non-controlling investment from – Guggenheim. But Guggenheim are not behind the approach to buy Tottenham and both Goldstein and Silverman are understood to have left the company.

Spurs responded with their own statement, which again stressed there were no takeover talks with any prospective buyers - although revealed meetings with Cain Hoy had taken place to discuss unrelated financial matters.

"Tottenham Hotspur Limited ("THFC") notes the continuing press reports surrounding a potential takeover and the announcement released by Cain Hoy Enterprises, LLC ("Cain Hoy"). THFC confirms it is not in takeover discussions with Cain Hoy or any other party," the club's statement read.

"As stated in yesterday's announcement regarding the new stadium project, THFC has been in discussions with multiple providers of finance so that the optimum financing package for the project can be achieved and, in the course of those considerations, has met representatives of Cain Hoy. However, there are no ongoing discussions with Cain Hoy.

"The club is focused on the new stadium development and the season ahead."

The project for Tottenham's new stadium hit problems earlier in the week when it was revealed the ground was 'highly unlikely' to be ready for Spurs to move in at the start of the 2017-18 season.

That means the club would need to find a temporary base for home matches as their own stadium was finished, with the Olympic Stadium, Wembley and stadium:mk all believed to be under consideration.

Spoke to a Spurs fan a couple of weekends ago who seem to genuinely believe that last season they were favourites for the title due to the money they had spent, the exact quote "On paper we had the best squad in the league and should ave won it". Such delusion leads to great disappointment for them and much hilarity for others. Long may it continue!

on the stadium, is it possible they could play in Olympic stadium when White Hart Lane getting rebuilt or whatever they are doing with it

I don't see West Ham being willing to share their new home with them especially after the falling out during the bid.

Doubtless you're right, but the thought of West Ham acting all prima donna-y about the ginormous gift from the taxpayer that is their new stadium turns my stomach.
