Champions League this season,

most likely full season there 2017/18.

New White Hart Lane 2018/19 (if things go as planned)

I understand why they're doing it, but it's still weird. How many teams build a new stadium and it's basically a downgrade on the one they were previously playing in? (If only for one season).

Have to say this report caught my eye. No idea how accurate the speculated figures are but just shows you how well Levy does with the wage bill there...and also how massively overpaid Lamela is!

Shows you how mad football has become when you're amazed a prominent premier league player (one of the best in his position) "only" earns 30k a week.

Christian Eriksen has rejected Tottenham’s latest offer of a new contract but remains keen to agree fresh terms.

The Dane’s deal has two more years to run and he turned down the most recent offer, though talks between the parties are expected to continue.

It is thought Eriksen was looking to be moved into the same bracket as Tottenham’s top earners given his fine performances with the club. He has scored 30 goals in three seasons and provided a regular flow of assists.

Hugo Lloris, the goalkeeper and captain, collects about £80,000 a week, with Erik Lamela earning about £70,000 a week and Mousa Dembele £65,000 a week. Harry Kane, Tottenham’s top scorer for each of the last two seasons, is on about £50,000 a week.

Tottenham have wanted to tie up a new deal for Eriksen, 24, for nearly a year. Eriksen, who joined from Ajax for about £11million in the summer of 2013, earns about £30,000 weekly and is targeting a significant rise. There remains, however, optimism on both sides that the deal will eventually be done.

Kane's scored nearly 50 goals over last two seasons and we were still paying Heskey more (60k a week) over 7 years ago now.

And Eriksen is earning less than what likes of Sidwell and NRC were getting here.

And we wonder why Spurs are permanently top 5 and we're slumming it in the championship.

Yep it is pretty incredible. Levy does run a tight ship. You'd hope with our club refusing to sell the likes of Sinclair for anything less than the price we want, we are starting to turn a corner in this regards.

Must admit I read this on the tube and had similar thoughts.

Have to remember there will always be a premium for us in that the players would have to live in/or around Birmingham.

I imagine Spurs probably use performance related bonuses or something to get players to join or stay for them salaries. e.g. Lloris and Verthongen could get double their pay and play top bracket of Champions League clubs

they were a special level of shit tonight and for me falls back on their transfer policy in summer. Wanyama, Janssen and the con-man Sissoko are not Champions League quality and they looked all over the place at times

Premier League the best league in the world :crylaugh:

Dropping to Europa will also mess them up in the league.

Was surprised the amount of pundits who thought Spurs would breeze through this group...Monaco and Leverkusen are regulars in the CL and know how it works, Spurs don't.

Playing at Wembley has also been a massive handicap for them...I presume they move back to WHL for Europa games?

Eh, it's one of those silly debates. On one hand Spurs did poorly in the CL. On the other, it shows the strength of the league that you have Spurs qualifying over the likes of Chelsea and United, and a pretty poor side like Leicester yawning their way through.

Can't imagine Lloris resisting offers from elsewhere if they play like that in the CL next season. He made 2 or 3 outstanding saves last night, all for nothing.

They're out. Good

For a team that hasn't been Champions since 1961, it makes a mockery of a Champions League tournament that they can be in that group. Tournament needs an overall. Will never happen though.

Not Spurs fault, granted, but they deserve to be out for playing hone games at Wembley

Something just isn't clicking for them this season. Bar the occasional brilliant performance (beating Stoke away 4-0 and beating City 2-0 at home), Pochettino seems to be finding it difficult to find his best XI.

Eriksen, Alli, Dier have all regressed compared to last season, whilst only Kane, Dembele and Lloris have performed to the same standards they did last season.

Sissoko has been a disaster of a signing, N'Koudou has been hardly been given a chance, Wanyama has been good in patches whilst Jansen it would seem just isn't good enough.

However, despite crashing out of the CL, they are still unbeaten in the PL which sets them in good stead for the rest of the season. Having already played Everton and Arsenal away and Liverpool and City at home.

Between now and January 3rd, they have five very winnable PL games. If they win those they should be on track for CL qualification once again.
