Things that piss you off that shouldn't

Back pain.

I think I pulled an intercostal muscle in my back on Saturday, mid back on the right hand side. Woke up this morning and I couldn’t move, even breathing deeply causes a lot of pain. I don’t want to be dramatic as there are millions of people in much worse positions but the lack of mobility is really doing my head in.

Debating whether there’s any point ringing the doctors, they only do same day appointments and you can be on hold for an hour and still not get one. That’s another thing that pees me off!

I get back pain every now and again. I did mine in a few months ago. Never been to a doctor over it, I just live with it until it heals itself, its not pleasant at all but it's usually OK again inside a week.

Wait until the pain is gone and then do something to make sure it never happens again. I used to have a lot of back pain issues after twp pretty bad car crashes. Got passed around between physios and chiros for years.

Only when I took matters into my own hands that I managed to fix it. Turns out there was nothing "structurally wrong" with my back (which is what all specialists had been telling me) well no more than everyone is a bit structurally wrong. I started training with a barbell (deadlifts, squats etc) and also took up climbing. Never had any back issues since and I work behind a screen and spend far too long in a chair each day.

A very high percentage of injuries are asking our muscles/tendons to do things they are not strong enough to do. Get them stronger, get injured less.

Yep that worked for me for a long time tbh. Just general back strengthening exercises

I just fell out of the habit of going to the gym again

Same here. It’s infuriating, isn’t it?

I have a simple solution for this, I don't listen to commercial radio

That’s my thoughts too. I started back at the gym after the last lockdown, I’m generally getting less back and shoulder aches from sitting wfh all day now. I think I pulled it trying to lift a washing machine on my own, but didn’t feel it at the time. I need to remember I’m not 25 any more! I’m not bothering with the doctor, more hassle just to be told to rest it and take painkillers. I’m sure it’ll get better.

I don’t, I can’t stand it. I’m now wondering where I’ve heard this terrible advert… must be from listening to podcasts.

My spotify account is the one linked to Alexa and google. So any music played on those devices is played from the linked Spotify account. I listen to Spotify and now it thinks I like Symphonic metal, Kpop, Crazy Frog and 80s pop. My algorithm will never recover from this.

That’s really annoying, imagine having Symphonic metal mixed in with all your favourites :)
