You think you know someone...then it turns out they watch people opening boxes on the internet.

Why can’t everyone be normal and just watch slightly weird porn.

Is unboxing porn a thing? Someone once said “if it exists, there’s porn of it”.
Back in 5...

Edit: it took less time to find that expected, yes, unboxing porn is a thing.

It would be interesting to see what part of the country registers the most hits for it.

I bet they could get it right down to one house in one street.

Sending an email to everyone at work, thinking it was a well thought out email. Only to re-read it later and realizing it reads like written by a 13 year old on a sugar high. Embarrassing doesn't quite cover it.

I never check everything seven times.

Nor me but I happened to watch that particular episode of Superstore last night in the midst of an interrupted nights sleep (in a successful - thanks shit comedy - bid to get  back to sleep)

So it was kinda fresh in the noggin

Mine was a funny acronym.

The last 2 projects my company have done we've lost £25m (16%) and £8m (42%)

Sat in a meeting on estimation strategy for a £150m project

"the information is poor and we haven't got time to do it properly, we did something similar in 2007, let's use that price and adjust it" on a piece of kit that costs £5m...suicide, its madness, this time next year I'll be in a meeting with the directors trying to explain why we're losing money again

Ze germans are lazy lazy bastards, still shocks me after being here for 2 years, obsessessed with clocking in and out and tracking their hours, getting computer systems to do their work for them and doing as little hard work as possible

That surprises me as from an outsider, it looks as though Germany is still the biggest force in Europe when it comes to industry. Not just cars but any heavy machinery, presses or equipment.

Yeah I'm construction so can't say about industry, the want for computers and assistance and then the use of processes I can understand that leaning towards high standards

But construction here compared to the UK... The UK goes too far the other way, we're almost actively trying to see if we can kill people with stress, here they have a lot more staff and do a lot less, try to be efficient but actually just end up cutting corners and producing poor work

For comparison the last project I did in the UK was a £15m project and we had a management team of 8 people, I'm now working on a £5m construction project in the UK with a a German company and we have a site management team of 14 people, for those who are in the know the £1.5m groundworks package has its own site manager, I've done £10m groundworks packages that didn't have that, £35m projects that had a smaller site village than my £5m project

The difference in culture is still mind boggling to me on a weekly basis

The sense of humour stuff is hit and miss, there's very very little craic, no football talk or Friday afternoon / Monday morning talk about your weekend, very little personal stuff and in my office absolutely no outside of the office get togethers, no football group, no beer group, been for an afterwork beer once in 2 years and that was cos a guy was leaving, there's no social secretary

Apart from the one guy I moaned about last week they're not lazy in the sense that they seemingly waste all day talking shite, they talk very little, smoke an incredible amount

UK is getting like that as well over the last few years. When I joined the company, nearly 20 years back (jeez!), it was a fantastic social scene. Obviously I was early 20s then but today, I don't see the youngsters in the office going out after work*. People leave at home-time, stick their headphones on and walk off to their bus/train stop. If you do try and organise anything you are just met with a a load of blank faces. Maybe its me and everything thinks i'm a word removed... they'd be right, but still :)
