It's sensationalist because you didn't include all of the data and facts. You just threw out claims without them being put in to an accurate context. All you did was say: one person killed someone and got 21 months and someone ' didn't declare the find properly ' and got a number of years. If your issue is that causing death by careless driving doesn't attract a sentence that is severe enough or that this particular case should have been prosecuted as more than careless driving then fine - that's for you to put forward, explain and argue for. We had my mom, step dad, brother, his wife and their 3 month old baby round for dinner last weekend. Naturally, we were all talking about the baby which is expected and fine, then my mom says to my brother, "it's only when you have your own child that it really makes you more responsible and grown up". Now, I'm sure she didnt mean anything by it but it still hurt me a little bit. I'm not even sure I can have kids, me and the missus arent actively trying but nothing has happened yet. BUT, for the last year I have been having an active role in looking after and recently raising her young lad, far more than his actual dad does. What if I cant have kids? Does this mean I can never be considered responsible and an actual grown up by my own mom despite in the future potentially having an official step child let alone raising him right now? We seem to give the most praise and admiration to the people doing the easiest bit (unprotected sex, squeeze a baby out, keep it alive). Save the praise for when that kid has reached adulthood and we can judge the outcome! I'm much more in awe of the parent who has had to deal with a teenager's mental health problem, or their child's divorce or whatever. That's the heavy end of parenting where you really prove your worth. Cleaning up a diarrhoea explosion in a nappy is nothing compared with that. I have not exactly the same, but I also got shafted by the gene pool. Half my family are about 6 5" and have immaculate skin. The other half are midgets with, well not so great skin.
