My wife is always telling me I can't walk the dog in the rain

He's a **** beagle, a hunting dog, he loves the rain

Mine is a Beagle too. He’s awesome, Really well behaved and eager to please us.

I had a beagle for 8 years,  they are ace.

I have a Border Collie now and neither breed care about the rain or they wouldn't have ever got jobs 😃 (Hunting / Sheep).

(My beagle was 15 years old in the end).

People who list their Myers-Briggs personality type (ENTP or whatever) on Twitter.

More generally, anyone who uses personality tests in a serious situation (e.g. work) as cover for their lack of basic emotional intelligence. People are not 4 letters FFS. It is one step up from astrology. Most people get different results depending on what mood they're in. It drives me effing nuts.

Spot-on. My wife once refused to take part in such testing at her workplace, with the memorable line "What are we going to get next - Russell **** ing Grant?"

She must be an ESTP, I guess.   :)

British Gas. Yeah, it was optional, but too many people are scared to refuse in case it gives them a bad reputation in the eyes of the bosses. I was the same - if I thought something was bollocks I always said so (probably to the detriment of my promotion prospects, but hey ho).

Would love a Beagle!

But how do people nowadays look after dogs? I'd feel awful having him sit at home 9 hours a day on his own while I'm at work.

Mine goes to Doggy Day care 3 times a week.  (Basically a big field with a barn and 30 dogs in 2 fields with so many people to look after / play with them.  He loves it.  Runs around for hours and hours. They pick him up and return him home later.

It depends on the dog though,  what type of house and how long you are gone each day.  I wouldn't get a beagle for example.

If you don't mind me asking, how much do you pay for that? I'd love to have a labrador, hopefully in many many years when  our cats aren't with us any more, but I would never get one to just leave them at home all day 5 days a week.

I had a friend that left their dog in a crate so it didn't claw at the doors while they were at work. As I say. Had a friend.

I was fortunate enough to live relatively close to a school, used to pay the other half's sister to come round every day when she picked her kids up to look after mine, kids played with the dog she cleaned the house, something like £15 a week, her kids absolutely loved it

agree with the sentiment, 9 hours a day by themselves is no good for the dog

I got all excited for a minute as I've wanted a dog for ages and it had never occurred to me to get a dog-sitter every day. A quick google suggested it'd cost me around £700 a month in dog-sitting.

I guess I'll wait until I win the lottery then.

I think I'd compromise and just get someone to come and take them for a long walk at lunch time.

Just get a cat  , it might not hump your leg as often as a dog but it will be far more awesome , go around to your neighbours garden to do its business  and doesn't need £700 a month or day care

Its approx 15-20 quid(Approx as I use Euros)  a day for 3 hours play time and travel there and back.  It's worth it 2 days a week currently and the interaction with all the other dogs does them no harm at all socialising wise.  There are so many girls / Helpers per amount of dogs and they split them up into groups.  They get to know each other really well after a while,  its well good.  A dog down the road (3 doors down) goes on Fridays so that's nice for them.

They have a pool and all sorts in the summer.  He sits by the window waiting for the girl to come and get him on Tues /  Fri.  He knows the days so he is up for it tomorrow.

My wife only works 2 days a week and I think he likes the quiet time. It doesn’t seem to impact him negatively at all. He has a very special bond with my 9 year old son with is great to see.

We had a Bassett hound for 12 years before him and tbh she was a bloody nightmare. I think she hated us.
I’d highly recommend a Beagle to anybody.

I concur. As someone who came in to IT from a different career i notice this so much. They typically lack in social skills and are quite often aloof to the point of being autistic (not belittling autism by the way).

They get incredulous if you don't understand what they're saying to you but remember this - loads of them spend too much time playing online games against 14 yr old apprentice nerds, hardly seeing the light of day thereby developing skin tone the colour of tippex.

I work in IT in an IT company.

Very annoying when people who apparently work for an IT company need to be told the same things over and over again.

But I'm not technically inclined so I don't fit the above stereotype :D

I worked 30 years in IT, but my educational background was totally in arts/social sciences. So I'd like to think I wasn't THAT guy. In fact I spent 2-3 years of that 30 doing training, and I particularly enjoyed helping and encouraging people who were initially intimidated by technology. That said, there was occasionally the odd clearing in the woods whose willful stupidity would tax the patience of a saint. But I was always patient.   :)

Really pissing me off lately. I hold a team brief every day before start of the shift. I explain to any newbies, that my Cannock accent may be a bit posh for them. So please listen carefully and if dont understand, dont just nod your head, ask me to repeat what I said before you start

They all nod their heads and then Fck off in the opposite direction
