i was thinking about this yesterday

is this basically the same tv deal system that is much criticised in spain? each prem club individually negotiates their asian market tv deal, at a guess utd's will be worth a fair few million more than ours

im not suggesting that it will create the same disparity that cripples la liga but it will at least create a disparity

The real money overseas is in the rights for live games, which the PL sells exclusively and collectively. 100% of the overseas money is split evenly: 5% to Hull, 5% to Villa, 5% to Man Utd. Liverpool, especially, have been outspoken of late in trying to get a bigger share of that.

The clubs, however, retain non-exclusive rights to sell rights to rebroadcasts of their games (with club commentary) 24 hours after the game. This is what allows MUTV etc. to show games.

Considering that our new sponsor is an Asia-focused betting site, it may well be that we're not getting a rights fee from Eurosport, but that securing a three-hour weekly program on Asian TV unlocks certain add-ons from Dafabet.
