The Premier League is morally corrupt.  Hope it backfires but it wont.

It won't.

The top 3 in 5 years time will all be oil clubs.

Disaster for Liverpool and United because it means one of them will fall out of the top 4.

The Glazers and John Henry will push for the ESL now.

The Top 4/CL has been a closed shop for a long time, the system is rigged to stop Leicester and others from breaking that mould again.

Any investment put into Newcastle will take years to see results and they will still be far off - it’s not FIFA 22

Oh well at least it will mean increased tax revenue for the country to help pay for this levelling up Tory nonsense.

Disagree, teams could definitely break the top 4.  They do need the backing behind them to stay there, though.

Who has top 4 in the last 20 years outside of the 6 ESL clubs?

Leicester once and Everton once? 2 out of 80

Can't be bothered to do a full analysis of it but if it's not a closed shop then the percentages

Just because sky tell you everyone is competing doesn't make it so, the top 4 this year could be seen before a ball was kicked

Newcastle twice as well. Spurs I dont actually include in the Sky 6.

I think Henry was spooked by the reaction of supporters to Super League. Glazers will still join if they can.

No way around the fact that this is bad news for Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham, Leicester, Arsenal and Spurs. Toon have been reliably shit for years. Their money should see them entrenched in the top 6.

problem is that inflation is not just confined to them and their bubble......it would impact on us ,when we come to buy...and every other club.

It will impact this football  industry like a "Snow Globe" been shaken, every associated industry could be affected....its like an earth quake.

Should the OP be....."lets all laugh with Newcastle( Now)"

PS there is still a good percentage of elite players, coaches, that will still go for the money alone, so Newcastle will make an impact, from that.

Which is part of the reason Real and Barca are in such a mess as they have tried to keep up with them without the oil money to fund it .Italian football is hardly in great shape finance wise either ,certainly Juv are struggling.

Newcastle need at least a £500m to consistently finish mid table. They’ve fluked enough results to stay up for the past few seasons. The idea that they will be entrenched Top 6 is off the mark at this point. It’s a massive rebuilding programme

That's my point - there are 6 (or more) clubs competing for 4 places.  If you're saying the Top 4/CL is a closed shop, then you're saying only 4 teams will qualify for the CL which is demonstrably untrue as Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal and Leicester have qualified for the CL in the last 6 seasons.

Spurs finished 4th 3 seasons ago.  Are they capable of finishing 4th again?  Yes.  Are they capable of being caught by a team who can spend to catch up to them?  Yes.

They really don't.  We've not spent anywhere near £500m and we'd very much consider ourselves to be a midtable club which is only looking up.  Newcastle are ahead of where we were when we started spending as well.

They've got the financial clout - the right purchases and they'll be a force, for sure.

(Of course top 6 isn't nailed on though, that's **** obvious)

I've mentioned it in another thread, it was Leicester once, Newcastle and Everton twice apiece in the early 2000's. That's it. Put it another way, since Abramovich took over and changed the game it's only been Leicester once and Spurs sneaking in before FFP.

The main thing they need is the manager appointment

They have to nail it

First big test of Staveley

They can potentially save themselves a few hundred million if they get the manager right

But as it is to get CL they need 11+ new players which will set them back somewhere near £500m

This is absolutely mortifying, imagine actually putting this out.

Incredible, the Saudis murder LGBT people and consider it terrorism. Shame on them. It’s easy to write that here far removed from the realities of what their owners do in Saudi.
