I know this goes against that other myth “Bruce gets all his players injured” but there you go. but he does. He said although the player wanted to play he decided it would be better to give him an extra game recovery (as he’d had 2 hamstring injuries already). We’ve all seen many, many times players come back too early and re-injure their hamstrings when they thought they were recovered.

Insisting he was right playing Jedinak at CB and Tuanzebe at RB was good stuff. Happy days.

Zatman
This must be the 20th takeover bid for Newcastle from extremely rich owners in the last 5 years or so. Funnily enough always Ashley in charge

If you've got near unlimited money you would. Utd, Arsenal, Tottenham and probably Chelsea are as weak as they've been for 5 years. They are going to be focused on avoiding riots back home, not looking to make a big financial investment into a company that can’t generate any income for the foreseeable future. Haven't got a clue myself but they could have gone from £1 trillion to £500 billion. They could have lost a lot of money and not been hurt. Some good old fashioned sportswashing is a sound investment if it only costs you £1bn in the next 10 years.

It would appear to be an odd time for it to happen given the lack of assurances on when and how football will restart. If people's sentiments are true it doesn't even appear as though football is particularly missed so it may take some time to reach the previous viewing figures and attendances again. fightoffyour Posted April 15, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted April 15, 2020 Nice to read the reassuring comments on here that this probably won't happen, and if it does then the Saudi(s) concerned might not even be that involved if just part of an investment group. Just another PR stunt from Ashley for positive spin amidst the Sports Direct and Newcastle furlough shambles?
villa4europe
My basic understanding of it is that's theres a woman called Amanda Staveley, she is the face of the bid, she owns an investment company that mainly helps middle eastern businesses buy bits of things, she helped man city's owner buy a chunk of Barclays for example, she is representing as well as having a 10% stake in the bid from the Reuben brothers (worth £18.6bn) who own a metal business (so the Mittal stuff is a good comparison) and the Saudi Arabia public investment fund which is trying to get a portfolio worth $400bn by the end of this year it sounds like they do an incredible amount of PIF construction projects in the gulf and then generally just throw their excess of cash anywhere they can, the money is there, Man City style money but it depends on what their long term aim is, if its to develop growth in the rest of their portfolio or the PIF in general, increase tourism (they helped build a shit load of hotels) and publicity for the region in general then who knows they could go nuts or like QPR or like even the Chinese investors in Man City they're just investors sticking some money in with no real connection to where its going whilst not employing someone like purslow or khaldoon al Mubarak, they could go out and get tom fox or woodward money alone wont do it in the PL anymore, you need something about you 1
