There was a moment in the game yesterday, in the final 10 or so when Palace actually tried for a bit, where they put in a decent cross and Benteke got his head on it. But that's all he did. He touched the ball with his head. He seemingly couldn't, or didn't even try, to attack the ball, to place a header on target. He just got into the air, just about, and had the ball slightly divert to sail wide. Benteke in his prime with us had plenty of days and moments where he looked like he couldn't trap a bag of cement, and couldn't control the ball to save his life. But then he'd have that moment where he lashes the ball home out of nothing or just dominated an entire defence on his own. Those days are a long time ago and he now is only the bad day player that looks like he first heard about a thing called a ball from a friend just before kick off. It’s only about 2 or 3, and they were all a long time ago. He’s made a lot of money this last 5 years without doing anything of note.
